My name in Astrid Scott, I am the ninteen year old niece of the head engineer on the Entireprise. I had recieved a call from my uncle the other night to ask me if I was intersted in a job. Seeing how I had just graduated from the Star Fleet academy I was in need of a job. When I asked him what this Job was exactly, he told me that he had insisted that I be his right hand woman on the Enterprise to his captian. To my luck and surprise, captian Kirk had agreed to it, I was shocked that he would want a new graduate on his crew but none the less I was greatful for it. I had spent the last two years of my life studying and training and now I was going to be able to put my skills to use. This would be my first time out in space and I had to admit I was absolutely terrified of what could happen but I was beyond excited. Scotty picked me up on his way to where they loaded the shuttles for the ships and crew that were heading out into outerspace. My gaze remained out the window, My mind crowed with thoughts and possible scenariors that could occure on this out of this world adventure. I was normally one of the loudest people ever, talking pretty much non stop but today I just wanted to think all this through. My nerves were taking over my calm facade, Who was I to be addmitted to go on the enterprise. Not even six months ago I was just finishing up my studies in enginering at the Academy. I was a newbie, only nineteen and both nervous and insecure about my so called amazing abilities. Did I happen to mention I graduated from the academy in only two years? The car slowly pulled to a stop infront of what looked like a large warehouse, right then and there the reality of it all hit me. I couldn't believe it, it all felt surreal to me. I chewed the inside of my lip hoping it would somehow ease the butterflies that were in my stomach.
"Yer awfully quiet lass. Is somethin' wrong?" Scotty asked glancing at me, there was a worried expression on his face as he parked his car and unbuckled his seatbelt. I let out a sigh and pulled my large down stuffed jacket around me blocking out the cool air of the morning.
"I was just in thought about what is about to 'appen. I mean who am I ta be goin' on the Enterprise?" I said softly, watching my warm breath collide with the cold, wintery, Scottish atmosphere as I got out of the car. My auburn hair fell off of my shoulders as I stood up and walked beside Scotty. I glanced at the surroundings around us, trying to slow the thoughts from buzzing around in my brain.
"Aye, I was the same way when I first went inta Star Fleet. But yer a very talented young lass whos destined ta be great!" Scotty said slapping my shoulder lightly. I sent a playful glare at him, he had always been the father figure in my life, seeing how my actual father was a alcoholic and abusive. He hit not only my mother, but occasionally me as well. I remembered the many nights that I stayed over at my uncle's house, he and I were probably the closest out of my entire family. Everyone else either pushed us away or we ourselves pushed them away. We were considered the freaks of out families, the ones who were considered 'failures' but I personally didn't really care. There wasn't much I cared about but Scotty was one thing I did care about.
"Mmmhmmm" I said not really paying attention, I was very absent minded today over everything that was happening, it all felt like some sort of dream.
" 're ya even listenin' ta me Astrid?" Scotty said snapping his fingers infront of my face. Snapping out of my haze, I jerked back and looked over at him.
"Aye, sorry " I said with a heavy sigh. We continued to walk towards the building, as we entered I saw many people hustling around and the huge shuttles that they used for transportation. They handed us our uniforms and told us to go change before boarding the shuttle. I sighed as I changed into my new uniform, It was a short red dress with a golded little star fleet ensignia on the chest of it. I was supposed to meet Scotty over by the shuttles but I decided to wonder around and observe my surroundings. I put my headphones in and started to play the song 500 miles to calm down my nerves when I noticed that Scotty was waving at me. I noticed the shuttle had started boarcing and I hurried my way toward him. I sighed softly as I sat next to him, I felt the engines turn on and I started to chew on my lip again. The shuttle took off and my heart started pounding in my chest, this was it, I was no longer the brainiac, party animal , engineering prodigy from the academy. Instead I was the right hand woman of Montogmary Scott. I sighed softly feeling s strange mixture of remose and excitement . Scotty put a hand on my shoulder and I pulled out my headphones.
" 're ya okay lass?" He asked looking very concerned and worried. I smiled a weak smile then nodded my head slightly assuring him that I was doing fine.
"Aye, just wonderin' if this was a good idea" I mumbled. Scotty just laughed at me, I glared at him.\
"It's not funny" I said sticking my lower lip out in a pouting expression as my brows furrowed downward.
"Look! There's the Enterprise!!" He said pointing out the window and changing the subject. "Typical Scotty" I thought to myself as I leaned over his body to look outside the window.
"Now! that ship is a piece of work, she's very Bonnie.." Scotty said, but I zoned him out staring at the wondrous ship. Everything about that ship was absolutely wonderful, from the paint job to the shape, I could drool over this like I would a hot boy. I couldn't help but to grin like a idiot, I was going to be working on that shipr and boy was I excited.
"Lassie, I think ya zoned out a wee bit" Scotty said with a warm smile on his face. I stared in awe at the Enterprise as the shuttle flew up to it, I couldn't take my eyes off of it.
"She's such a bonnie lass" I said in total admiration of the Ship. My native Scottish accent sounding loud and proud as I spoke, Scotty started chuckling. I was pretty much like the girl version of Scotty, well minus acouple years and my ginger hair that is.
"Ya really 're my niece aren't ya?" Scotty laughed as the shuttle landed inside the cargo area. My heart pounded on my chest, feeling a wave a nervous nausea go over me.
"This would be such a wonderful experience for me." I thought to myself. The shuttle doors opened and we all walked out onto the Enterprise. I glanced around at the ship, not bothering to care if I ran into people. This was going to be my new home.
"Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed looking at the inside of the huge ship. A man walked up to us, he had dirty blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, not to mention he was kinda attractive. He shook Scotty's hand with a large smile on his face.
"Welcome back Scotty. I've missed you" he said with a smile, before pulling Scotty into a hug. Scotty hugged him back and returned his smile.
"Thanks Captain. I've missed ya as well. This 'ere is my niece Astrid" he said, his hand gesturing over to me. Jim's blue eyes looked me over then looked into my blue-green eyes, he smiled and firmly shook my hand.
"Captain Jim Kirk, It's a pleasure to meet you Miss.Scott" he said smiling. I felt a blush appear on my freckled cheeks as I smiled shyly at him. I hated how I blushed so easily, prehaps it didn't help that I had super pale skin either.
"It's a pleasure ta meet ya as well, I've 'eard a lot about ya from my Uncle." I said feeling my heart jerk about in my chest. This was my new captian, well hopefully everyone on this ship was as good looking as this man was
"Hopefully, those things were good things" he said with a wink. "Once we take off I'll introduce you to the rest of the crew. Scotty, will you check the engines before we take off?" Kirk said loking at Scotty before he went into the lift.
"Aye, Captain" Scotty said with a smile, and with that Kirk was back to the bridge.
"I'll show ya 'ow its done wee lassy" he said grinning at me. I rolled my eyes, a smirk appearing on my face, as I crossed my arms over my chest, I was not really a wee lass anymore but I guess I would always be that to him.
"Whatever ya say" I teased. We both walked around the core examining it closely, making sure everything was okay and ready to go. Scotty expained to me how the enitre systems work and what I would need to do if he was sick or something.
" Captain the lass is ready ta fly"Scotty said excitedly. Within seconds I felt the ship take off, the breath caught in my lungs realizing I was really leaving earth, I was about to go on adventures and see things that I couldn't eben imagine.
"This was it, I'm finally out and on my own" I thought with a smile. Captain Kirk walked out of one of the lifts and walked over to me, he looked hapy to see me.
"Miss. Scott, I'm ready to introduce you to the main crew, if you are ready that is " he said with a teasing smile.I grinned and nodded, feeling the nervous butterflies and nausea reappear. I was not going to throw up on my first day here.
"Aye,sir. I'm as ready as I'll ever be" I smiled nodding my head to emphazise my point. He walked over to the lifts and I followed, careful not to be too close to him. I looked around as we entered the lift, this all was a new experiance for me.
"So is this your first time in space?" he asked pressing a button that made us go up towards the bridge
"Yep I'm 'oping it doesn't scar me fer life" I laughed being completely honest. He laughed with me and glanced over at me.
"Well, at least you didn't have to sneak on a ship like I did my first time out in space." he said flashing me a flirty smile as the doors opened. "Welcome to the bridge Astrid" He said with a wink.
"Keptian on ze bridge" a Russian accent said. I looked around the bridge in complete amazement, the technology in the bridge was soo advanced and absolutely wonderful to look at. A man in a blue star fleet shirt walked up to us, he had black straight cut bangs across his forehead, straight interesting eyebrows, dark brown eyes and pointed ears.
"Hello Captain, who is this?" the man said.
"This Spock, is Scotty's niece" Jim said.
"Oi!" I said freaking out.
"Is something wrong Miss. Scott?" Spock asked tilting his head to the side.
"Yer ears...'re pointed 're ya an elf?." I said my eyes wide,and my mouth agape. Kirk started snickering beside me, Spock rose a eyebrow at me then looked at me as if I was stupid.
"I am half Vulcan so it's only logical that my ears would be pointed. Are you making fun of me Miss.Scott?" Spock said.
"OH! Nonnononono I just-" I stammered nervously, blubbering like some sort of idiot.
"It's her first time in space, and you're the first alien shes seen" Kirk said with a smug grin

"Correction, I am only half Vulcan so I am not fully alien. I am Spock. The commander of the Enterprise" he said extending his hand to shake. I grabbed his hand and shook it firmly. Kirk rolled his eyes at the Vulcan and simply just gave him a look.
