Isabelle’s P.O.V.
I got back to my apartment at one in the morning and only left after I made the guys promise not to leave me behind. I had used my situation to my advantage and had given Dylan the puppy dog eyes as a plea and he’d just sighed and nodded his head, so I felt secure that they wouldn’t go without me.
The twins were the ones who were adamant that I should be left behind; apparently they hadn’t quiet taken to me yet. They kept saying that I would be of little use and would only slow everyone down, I do agree to a point, I don’t have four legs like the others, but I have vowed to show them what I’m made off. They seem to think I belong at home, probably in a kitchen, men! They had been complaining about my coming all evening and in the end Eric had to threaten them with violence before they would shut up.
I couldn’t take my eyes off Eric, he is mysterious and has a look about him that’s dangerous which is a combination that just screams hot and I’m sure I could count on one hand the girls who think otherwise. In doing so I couldn’t avoid a few awkward moments where his eyes would meet mine. We’d been stuck in the room for an hour planning when I caught myself staring at Eric, he looked up and met my eyes and a cocky grin spread across his face because he had caught me in the act, I blushed and turned away only to look into the face of a pissed of Dylan who was glaring daggers at Eric, yep awkward.
I was just leaving the pack house when Eric approached me. “Hey Isabelle.” He called after me as I reached for the door handle.
“Oh hey Eric, you can call me Bella if you like.” I say with a blush.
“Cool. But doesn’t everyone call you Izzie?”
“Yeah they do around here, but that was just so I could forget my old life, however, it’s caught up with me and I much prefer Bella to Izzie, so I’m changing back again.” I’m rambling and I catch myself to try and save myself from further embarrassment.
“Yeh I like Bella.” He states. We stand in an awkward silence for a moment before he continues. “I was just wondering how you were getting home?”
“Erm I’m walking, why?”
“Because It’s half twelve and you shouldn’t be out by yourself at this time. So I’m going to walk you.” He states with a serious face. It comes as a surprise that he would offer to do such a thing so I just nod in reply and turn to leave.
We were walking at a leisurely pace, neither one of use in a hurry, the first five minuets had been spent in awkward silence but I could feel the tension slowly being left behind.
“Thanks for standing up for me back there,” I say truly grateful.
“No problem and I meant what I said, I’ll look after you.” I didn’t doubt it. “Ignore the twins, you’ll warm to them.”
“Not likely.” I say with a laugh. We laps into another silence, however this one is more comfortable. We are slowly nearing my flat and I find myself wishing I lived further away.
“You know he’s following us right?” Eric asks in a gruff voice, it’s a genuine question.
“Yeah.” I sigh. “He’s usually around somewhere, he's probably also listening to our conversation.” Eric just leans in closer.
“Then we should probably make it interesting for him.” He whispers seductively in my ear making me shiver.
“Are you cold Bella?” He asks innocently.
“A little.” I lie and he just laughs and throws an arm over my shoulder pulling me into him.
When I get to my door I unlock it and turn around to face him and he’s a lot closer than I anticipated.
“Well thanks for walking me home.”
“You’re welcome. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow at two.” I’m glad the guys decided to set off tomorrow after noon, they needed time to get supplies ready and I’m just so tired, an early start would have killed me and just given the twins something else to complain about.
“You will. Don’t let them leave without me!” I remind him.
“I wont, you’re the only one not up yourself or high and mighty with power in this group, if I leave you behind I think I’ll end up killing myself on the way.” I laugh and punch his arm lightly.
“Hey! Some of them aren’t that bad and remember three of them I’ve known since I was a child! I’m very protective over my friends.” I growl playfully.
“Alright, alright, I give… Beta Starr.” He says sarcastically whilst holding up his hands in mock surrender.
“I am not a Beta! Goodnight Eric.” I turn to leave when he grabs my wrist, spins me around and smashes his lips on mine, it’s different to anyone I have kissed before, there is still no spark, but it’s demanding and rough and makes me feel wanted. I’m so shocked I just stand there and don't really participate and I swear I hear a low growl somewhere in the dark. “Goodnight Bella.” Eric says releasing me from his hold and like the wuss I really am I turn around and flee into the safety of my apartment.
Dylan's P.O.V.
They were stood on Isabelle’s doorstep, just talking. I stood in the shadows watching. They knew I was here and it didn’t bother them but I wasn’t going to leave until she was safely inside.
“I am not a Beta! Goodnight Eric.” She was turning to leave and that was also my cue to go to. I was just about to turn around when I see Eric lean forwards and grab Isabelle’s wrist, turn her to face him and kiss her. I can’t help the growl that tears out of my throat and disturbs the silence of the night. What in reality lasted for merely seconds seemed to never end and it froze me to the spot. I’d been watching her all night, I couldn’t help myself, in doing so I found that she couldn’t stop looking at him. What was so good about him? Considering I’m older than both of them I tried to act like an adult and ignore it, there is nothing I can do, I said no to her but someone else will say yes eventually.
He finally lets her go and I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.
“Goodnight Bella.” She has known him a night and he gets to call her Bella! The jealousy coursing through my body has never been so strong and it makes me feel sick to stomach.
After leaving Isabelle, Eric walks in my direction.
“What are you doing man?” he asks, I stay silent. “I think I have a chance with her and you’re little stalker act is going to ruin that.” I grab him by the throat and slam him into the wall, it takes him by surprise, I can tell by his facial expression.
“You kissed her.” I growl at him.
“Yeah, I did. Her lip gloss tastes good, apple I think.” He’s taunting me, he obviously doesn’t know how close to the edge I am.
“You are no longer allowed to touch her, especially for the duration of our mission.” I’m a Beta he’s a nobody if he doesn’t listen to my command and take it seriously I wont be held responsible for my actions.
“Why do you even care?” He is having trouble speaking now and I guess it’s because I have tightened my grip on his throat, he’s looking a little purple.
“She is my mine.”
“Ah, your mate. Well she doesn’t seem so interested in you… she’s too busy looking at me. I like my chances.” He growls at me. “Besides I’m only looking for a bit of fun, nothing permanent and she’s hot.” He says with an evil smile. This guy makes me sick, I punch him once in the face before throwing him to the ground and storming away, whilst he just laughs. There is nowhere to go for a run as a wolf in the centre ofCardiffso I have to find another means of calming down. I walk around the same streets for hours just thinking.
When I first walked into the Alpha’s office I was shocked to see Isabelle there and then to hear she was coming on the mission I was scared to say the least. Something could happen to her!
No! Nothing will happen to her, I’ll make sure of that.
We tried to persuade her to stay home but she’s stubborn and refuses, to be honest in a way I’m glad she’s coming, this way I get to keep an eye on her and keep her close. There will be seven males including me and one unmarked female, I hate those odds. We’ll be spending the best part of the next month together and my wolf rejoices at such at fact but if things like what happened tonight occur I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop myself killing the person who touches her, the thought makes me so angry.
I think for hours about this and come to one conclusion, that keeps coming back and taunting me; unless I claim Isabelle as mine I’m never going to be happy.
