Feelings inside

A short story

I'd rather feel sad, lonely and unloved, than be in a relationship, and feel the exact same way.
You say you hate to see me hurt, sad and cry, but when you hurt me, did you close your eyes?
You tell me to trust you, but I'm still coughing up water from the last time you let me drown.
I wish I could give you my pain for just one moment. Not to hurt you, but so that you could finally understand how much you hurt me.
