Our boys were just a little under a week old. Cadence James was big, born almost 7 pounds and with a personality to match. He liked to eat, and he liked to sleep. Cameron Liam was the more reserved of the two, but he definitely was observant. He was awake more often than not, his own big blue eyes taking in everything around him. He was on the smaller side, born only 5 pounds even, and not breathing after delivery.
It was a while before they had him stabilized enough, but now he was doing amazing.
The soreness after my treatment had kicked in, and I'd only been to the hospital when they were born. Jamie would often FaceTime me from the hospital to show me the boys, and he'd come home and show me videos he took of them.
God I wanted them to come home already, which they would be within the next few days.
It was just so hard being away from them. I hated that my body was doing this to my family, I should be sitting with my husband, holding our two beautiful boys with him.
But I had to be thankful with the fact that I even got to be with them at this point. I loved this life I'd created with Jamie, I loved our little family, I loved us.
