A boy headed toward the war,
His blood boiling with anger
And flesh tingling with adrenaline rush.
His enthusiasm making him blind.
As he ran in the battle; he picked up his bayonet-blade,
His war-cry heard over all the BANGS and BOOMS.
His hunger for revenge so powerful,
He couldn't foresee his wrong!
His eyes wide in astonishment at the sharp pain.
The blunt bullet-head,
Like claws of a furious eagle on his skin.
As he stumbled in the bone and gristle scattered ground.
Jagged antlers piercing his heart
As he gasped for precious breathe.
Innocent blood seeping into his clothes
His innards throbbing as if eaten away by moths!
His priced zinc cartridges falling like broken stars.
The boy didn't know such would be;
The price for loving his country.
Such was the venom of a bullet,
Even, the dark talons of vengeance couldn't keep him breathing.
