Chapter 43- "I need you to bail me out"

"Wake up" An officer ordered.
I woke up and they handcuffed me and pushed me out of the cell.
"We're going to have a meeting about your crime, but you have breakfast now" He said.
He pushed me into the old cafeteria where prisoners talked an ate.
"I'm not hungry" I gritted.
"Well sit down, and make some friends" He said and unhandcuffed me.
"Do I get a phone call now"? I asked.
"No" He said and his speaker walkie talkie thing went off.
"Copy that" He said into it then telling me "I have a case, watch what you do Lockwood".
I scanned around the cafeteria, and hoped not to see my dad.
"Well, well, look who we have here. Fresh Bait" A prisoner came up to me and smirked clapping his hands and rubbing them together.
I ignored him.
"What's your name kid"?
"None of your f*cking business" I spat.
"Boss, we got a stubborn one" He called over.
Then a man with brown hair, a stubble beard and blue eyes just like mine came up to me.
The man clenched his jaw.
"Father" I acknowledged.
"River" He nodded "My, have you grown".
"I'm not here to sign a f*cking peace treaty! You're still a asshwole"! I snapped.
My head was killing me from the hangover, and I suddenly felt bad for tripping Tatum yesterday and she smacked her head and has a concussion.
"Listen to me! This is my place! I run this, not you! So learn your place here, fast" He gritted grabbing me by the jumpsuit shirt.
I glared at him "Keep your dirty hands off me, you bastard!" I pushed him off me.
He then threw a punch to my face.
I stumbled back and reset my jaw and clutched my fist and threw a punch to his gut and hes stumbled back a bit, then sobering up and cracking his knuckled and throwing a full-force punch at my eye and I uppercuted him and kicked him in the gut.
Cops broke us apart and handcuffed us both and pulled us out of the cafeteria and into a empty spare room.
I could tell my noes was bleeding and a black eye would form.
"What the hell was going on"?! An officer yelled.
My dad was in a red which is murder and rapist to 1st degree.
"This here officer, is my son" He explained.
The officer looked at me and raised eyebrows.
I nodded slightly.
"River how old are you"? The officer asked.
"18" I said.
He nodded "You do realized you can be trialed as an adult".
I nodded.
"So I would not recommend doing anything stupid" He said.
I rolled my eyes.

I sat in class and tapped my fingers on the desk as I watched the clock and waited for the bell to ring.
My phone started to ring.
I fumbled for my phone and put my hand over the speaker and everyone looked over at me.
"Um Ms. Walt can I please take this, it's a family emergency"? I asked.
She nodded and I got up and walked out of class.
I answered the phone once I got out of the class.
"Hello"? I asked at the unknown number.
"Tatum".
My breath hitched "River! O my God! Where are you"!?
"Uh...about that. I'm kind of in jail and I need you to bail me out" He said.
My eyes widened "What"!?
"I was drunk" He said.
"Why did you call me"?! I asked.
"Do you really want me to answer that"? He asked.
"Yeah......"
"Because I knew you'd be the one person to actually come, and other things that you don't give a sh*t about".
"River-".
"Tatum please, I beg you and please DO. NOT. TELL. ANYONE." He said.
"I-" Then the phone cut off.
"River? River?" I asked but the line went dead.
I sighed and ran a hand threw my hair.
I had to go back to class now anyways.

"He's in jail"?! Beth exclaimed.
I nodded.
"And he called you"?! Beth exclaimed again.
"The power of Love, Babe" Luke said kissing Beth's cheek.
I glared at him and kicked his leg.
Jake asked "Are you going to go bail him out"?
I said "Yeah, I just don't know where to get the money".
They all shrugged.
"Great" I said sarcastically.
I bit my lip and ran a hand threw my hair "Well I got to go home and do my homework. I'll see you guys later".
They nodded and I walked away.
I ran upstairs to my room and threw my backpack down.
I plopped down on my bed and tried to think about where to get money.
Why am I even helping him!?
Because you like him...
Shut up sub-conscience!
I pulled out my homework and started it.
I tapped my pencil against my textbook as I tried to concentrate.
I looked up and bit my lip "This is not going to go over well" I said to myself.

"Hey honey" My mom said as she entered my room "How was school"?
I shrugged "It was school".
She sighed and sat down on the edge of my bed and tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear "Still thinking about River"?
I blinked a few times and looked down at the math textbook in my lap "Uhh, yeah".
"Have you heard anything from him"? She asked.
I gulped silently and shook my head "No".
She sighed "Alright. If you do tell me, Marie is worried sick".
I nodded and she got up and walked out.
River, I'm going to kill you!

"Hey Tatum, you okay"? Mark asked me.
I nodded "Ya why wouldn't I be"?
He said "Well you're a little........jumpy".
I saw I had my leg shaking up and down and my fingers tapping repeatedly on the kitchen table.
"No, just worried about a test I have tomorrow" I lied.
He nodded slightly not believing me "Okay....."
It was 9 P.M.
I said "Well I'm going to go to bed".
"It's only 9 o'clock" Lex said.
"I just didn't get any sleep last night" I said.
"Alright...." My mom hugged me "Night sweetie".
I smiled and walked upstairs.
I shut my door and locked it.
I walked over to my closet and pulled on a pair of skinny jeans and leather jacket and Converses with a snapback on backwards.
I walked over to my bed and took a bunch of pillows and put them under my covers in a straight line, so it looked like I was sleeping.
I grabbed my skateboard and slung my backpack over my shoulder and stuffed my skateboard in it and half of it stuck out.
I walked over to my window and unlocked it, then pushing it up and climbing out onto the slippery roof since it's been raining.
I shut my window and grabbed a tree branch then swinging myself over and climbing down.
I jumped down and landed on my feet on the grass.
I looked back at the house and no one noticed I left.
I grabbed my skateboard and skated out of the driveway.
I couldn't drive because they would all here my truck start, and I'd be like "Oh I'll be right back I'm just going to bail River out of jail really quickly, see you in an hour".
I think Not.
I skated down the dark streets of Portland.
I shivered at the cold weather and the only light was coming from street lights, houses, and stores.
I came into town and walked into the bank.
I bit my lip and walked up.
"Hello" The lady said.
"I'd like to take a $1523.00 out of my bank count" I said.
The lady looked shocked "ID please".
I handed her my licenses and she nodded.
"I'll be right back......Ms. Crawford" She said and walked away.
I put my licenses away and took off my backpack.
People looked at me weirdly.
She walked back and handed me small sacks of money.
I put it in my backpack and signed some papers and walked out.
O God, I can't believe I'm doing this.
I skated down the street and crossed the street as cars were stopped at a red light.
I skated down a small alleyway and headed downtown.
It was then when I saw a car swerve and my eyes widened as it came my direction.
Then everything went black.
