De quaddle

The trio quickly made their way to the Mystery Shack, not bothering to loiter. Danny was slightly shaken and Dipper was none too happy about Danny's display of ghost hunting ability. The teen still held the thermos tightly in one hand, but the boy refused to speak to him, much less ask questions about the events that took place inside the Dusk 2 Dawn. Nonetheless, he assumed that the couple was long gone, though he wasn't sure about the other ghost. He wasn't even sure where the other ghost came from.

Exhilaration quickly wore off, giving way to the persistent exhaustion that rested just beyond Danny's mind. He shook his head in an attempt to stay awake and take his thoughts away from the boy behind him. He could practically feel Dipper's eyes boring into him.

Wendy, however, was much unlike the two boys. She smiled often and asked questions about the spectacle that had happened not long ago. Danny wished she would stop talking about it, for he wasn't entirely sure how to answer all the questions without giving away vital parts to his long kept secret. He didn't need to give any hints to the preteen behind him, who was already incredibly suspicious. Danny suspected that Dipper might also be a bit jealous of how Wendy acted around him, though he couldn't understand why. It was obvious Wendy cherished the Pines' friendship. Unless he wished she thought of him in a different way, that is.

Upon seeing the old wooden shack, Dipper made a dash for the creaky swinging door that looked as if it was about to fall off it's hinges. Danny's first reflect was to grab at the back of the boy's blue vest, causing him to make a choking sound before falling to the dirt. Drops of blood made trails down the Pines' cheek.

Danny stared down at him. "You aren't going anywhere until we clean up that cut."

With an incoherent grumble Dipper stood, hesitantly following Danny over to the RV. Wendy pulled her phone out of her back pocket and cast a worried glance over at the boys.

"Yo, my dad just broke like, the entire house."

Danny shifted his inquiring gaze towards Wendy. "What?"

"I have to go. Bye, guys!"

Dipper and Danny watched as the red-headed teen ran off, sliding over the front of a car and hopping gracefully into the trees. The eldest of the two opened his mouth to protest but closed it quickly and shook his head. Wendy was quite the character.

Danny ushered the younger boy inside the RV.

Upon entering, Dipper was shocked. The inside of the RV looked more like a lab, with buttons and levers protruding from the metal walls like sticks on a pine tree. A rather uncomfortable  looking seat stuck out from the walls and Dipper plopped down on it, still glancing around at the interior of the vehicle. Meanwhile, Danny pulled a first aid kit out of his suitcase; a large red box containing supplies that helped heal his most common injuries. As he opened the box, Dipper's gaze shifted to the contents inside. His eyes widened at the variety of medical equipment.

Danny, seeing his expression, looked away quickly and focused on the task at hand. "I'm really clumsy," he said coolly, which wasn't a complete lie.

Dipper snorted. "You're not the only one. By the way, you have a little something on your shirt."

The teen looked down and groaned at what he saw. Another shirt, ruined by a blood stain. He cast Dipper an angered glare while pulling out the antiseptic. "You couldn't have told me earlier," he mumbled under his breath.

Dipper tried to ignore the simple fact that Danny didn't seem worried at all, and instead he inquired, "So, what really happened in the the Dusk 2 Dawn?"

Danny wiped off the skin around the cut, which made the young boy flinch. "Just a ghost fight. They threw a lot of shelves at me, I dodged them with my super-quick ninja skills and trapped them in the Fenton Thermos. Simple as that."

"Fenton Thermos?"

Danny gestured towards the metallic thermos as he applied the antiseptic. Despite himself, Dipper pulled back in pain before sinking into the gentle feeling of cool fingers on his burning cut. "Fenton Thermos: traps ghosts so I can put them back in the Ghost Zone."

Dipper opened his mouth to ask about the Ghost Zone when a soft dinging sounded from the teen's back pocket. Looking confused, he reached down and pulled out his Fenton Phones. He must have absentmindedly grabbed them on the way out of the tent. Placing the phones on his ear, he pressed the silver button and opened his mouth to speak when a female voice cut him off.

"I tried to call you a little while ago, but you didn't answer. Where were you?"

Sam. The familiar voice put a smile on his lips. He could practically see her short black hair and lavender eyes in front of him, and his heart skipped a beat. With a quick glance at Dipper, the moment faded.

"Look, Sam, I can't really talk right now—"

"Are you fighting ghosts?" This was a male's voice, and Danny flinched at the mention of the ectoplasmic beings.

"Tucker, I—"

"—am going to find time to talk to my two best friends," Tucker wrongly finished, and Danny pictured him crossing his arms, his red beret bobbing up and down with the motion of his head.

"I'm with someone."

"Ooh, is it a girl?"

Danny scoffed. "Tucker, it's a twelve year old male kid."

"Why are you with him so early in the morning?" Sam inquired.

"I was, uh, ghost hunting."

There was a collective gasp from the other side, and Danny thought it to be so loud Dipper could hear it. The boy's head snapped up at the mention of ghost hunting, and Danny fought the urge to roll his eyes.

"Does he. . . know?"

He knew that they would ask this. When the teen had gotten his ghost powers two years ago, the two of them had been standing with him. Even when times were hard, he could count on Tucker and Sam to help him fight. They were just as much heroes as he was in Amity Park, and their concern touched him.

"No," Danny answered flatly. "He followed me, but he didn't see anything."

Dipper listened to Danny's side of the story with interest. Didn't see anything? What did that have to do with anything? Furthermore, who were these people? Dipper reached for his pen in his back pocket, as he always clicked it when he was thinking, only to find it missing. It must have fallen out while he was running.

"Guys, I'll tell you what happened tomorrow."

"But it is tomorrow!"

"Fine, I'll tell you when the sun comes up and I feel like talking." With that Danny promptly clicked the silver button and hung up, stuffing the Fenton Phones back into his pocket and focusing on the task at hand.

"Who were they?" Dipper asked. Danny hadn't even grabbed the bandages.

"Friends from home."

"Where is home?"

"Amity Park."

Dipper's nose crinkled. He had heard that town name before, and though he couldn't place a finger on it, he knew that it was important.

Danny held back a laugh and smirked when he saw Dipper's expression. "Yeah, I know. Town of Ghosts or whatever."

Dipper nodded slowly. That was definitely where he had heard the town name: on the news. It also explained why Danny's parents hunted ghosts. Things were beginning to click into place and Dipper asked his final question while Danny put the bandage over the cut, his tongue sticking out in concentration.

"And the Ghost Zone?"

"What about it?"

"You mentioned a Ghost Zone earlier. What is it?"

"Oh." Danny zipped up his large array of medical supplies and hid it underneath a pile of clothes. "Big, swirly green dimension where souls go when they die."

Dipper wanted to ask more questions: What did he know of the Ghost Zone? What kind of ghosts had he fought before? How do the ghosts get out of the Ghost Zone? When did he become so good at fixing up wounds?

Danny simply dismissed them all with a wave of his hand. "That's enough questions for one night, Dipper. You should probably get to sleep.

"What about your cut?"

Danny glanced down at his shirt. The blood had finally stopped spreading.

"I told you: no more questions."

And 250 reads guys: absolutely insane. I can't thank you enough.
