CHAPTER NINE: AN INTIMATE GESTURE
"We do not tolerate such illicit behavior in this school Mr. Lance Knight." Jeremy's penetrating sea-green eyes travel to mine, "And you should've known better, Kimberly"
I want to roll my eyes but refrain myself. He's being so irrational right now. It's not like Lance and I were found doing the nasty in the classroom full of students. It was a simple peck on the chin—which completely took me off guard might I add—yet he's acting like we murdered innocent babies a few minutes ago.
"In my defense, I only found her adorable so I kissed her." Is Lance's stupid response.
"On the freakin' chin!" I emphasize nonetheless.
Our math teacher continues to glare at us. "I don't care if it's on the chin, nose, lips or any part of her body. It was still an intimate gesture inside the classroom and that is strictly prohibited" Is he really serious right now?
My hands fly out in exasperation. "Oh, heaven's no! We made an intimate gesture! Such transgression we have committed! Whatever shall we do?" I let out a sarcastic remark.
Lance puts his hand on his chest. "I'm the one who sinned. I should solely repent."
Sir Jeremy growls in annoyance, "Are you both making fun of me?"
My lips curve in a fake smile. "Are we?"
Lance adjusts himself on the chair so he can be more comfortable. "I'm sorry but don't you think you're over reacting over a simple kiss that is not even on the lips?"
I join in. "It was a simple peck on the chin, nothing more!"
"But—" Jeremy starts but I interrupt him before he says something illogical again.
"But nothing" I pull Lance up from his seat "Let's go, Lance. We're wasting our time here." We both leave that infuriating teacher's office. I'm sure he'll text me of being immature again for walking out on him but I don't care. He's being insufferable right now and I just can't stand that kind of imprudent pride anymore.
Once we're outside his office, Lance sniggers. I give him a questioning look and he's shaking his head while smiling as if what happened completely amused him.
"What's so funny?" I ask while we saunter towards our next classroom since we both have the same class schedule today, as well as his other friends.
"Are you sure you're not dating that teacher?" He probes.
My face flushes. "I already told you, we're not dating"
He merely shrugs. "He sure is acting like a jealous boyfriend"
More like a jealous fiancé.
"So, Tyler, huh?" I tease, remembering his fake name last Saturday night.
He rolls his eyes. "Tyler is my second name. What about you, Chloe?"
"Chloe is just my safe name that I give to strangers." I simply show him a wide grin. "And I've always wanted my name to be Chloe, sadly I'm stuck with Kimberly."
"That's really sad." He chuckles.
We reach the room for our English class and as expected, girls start fangirling. One chick even flies off from her seat and jumps on Lance making them both land on the floor.
"I love you so much, Lance!" She squeals while showering kisses on every inch of his face. Lance's scared eyes find mine. "Help."
I laugh as I try to pull her off him. She keeps swatting me away but eventually stops harassing the poor guy once Lance promises a coffee date with her tomorrow. The blonde chick gives him one long kiss on the lips before standing up and going back to her chair, leaving Lance weakened on the floor.
I offer a hand and help him stand up, "You should really have a bodyguard"
"I'll tell our manager about it." He says seriously while fixing his uniform.
You shouldn't even be here, I want to add but remain silent instead.
We find his other friends with a flock of girls surrounding them. One guy, I think his name is Ken, is even making out with some Asian girl at the back of the classroom.
Lance high fives all of them as we take a seat. The other three guys woot when they noticed their friend, Ken, kissing a new girl, a red head this time.
I try not to shudder in disgust.
Of all the people who could be new students in our school, why does it have to be a freakin' boy band? Gods, why?
* * * * *
By 3 P.M. sharp, the bell rings.
Everyone excitedly swarms around us since Lance and the boys are seated near me again. My chair almost tips over when three girls try to climb on it just to be closer to them. I could've died right there if it weren't for Ella's quick hands who steadied me. Okay, maybe died is too much of a stretch. But the fact remains that these girls will do anything just to get a picture or an autograph from their beloved Boys on Fire.
It took Ella me five minutes—five most traumatizing minutes of our lives—to free ourselves from the crazy crowd and out of the classroom. One would think this isn't a private school with the way those girls are acting. I think I heard Lance shout "wait up" but I ignore him and choose to survive instead. Survive first, cute boy later.
"Shouldn't celebrities like them be home-schooled?" I ask Ella while unbolting my locker.
Ella shrugs "I guess. But I'm not complaining...sort of. I don't mind having The Boys on Fire in our school" She gushes and stares into space as if imagining a scenario with them.
"I watched their YouTube videos last night and they aren't even that good."
Ella gasps and glowers at me "How dare you! Boys on Fire is freakin' perfect!"
I simply shrug as I arrange the mess in my locker. "They're not even half as good as One Direction or Five Seconds of Summer."
She puts her hands on her waists and chastises me like a small kid. "They're not like One Direction or Five Seconds of Summer because they're the one and only Boys On Fire. And before you know it, they'll be extremely popular and I'm proud to say I'm one of their first supporters before they even hit full stardom"
I'm about to make another remark just to play with my best friend's head but heels clicking on the marbled floor interrupts us and suddenly, we feel the presence of The Leech.
Hailey walks towards us with her glittery red lips in a proud smirk.
Ugh. What does she want now?
"They're here for a girl," She says smugly.
Ella arches an eyebrow. "And how would you know that?"
She crosses her arms over her stuffy boobs. "Let's just say I have connections."
I couldn't help myself but to comment from the last time we saw each other. What can I say? She brings out the worst in me. "Connections from that History teacher you connected with?"
Ella's hands instantly shoot to grab my arm as if telling me she wants to know everything. Yet Hailey remains composed as if she was expecting that jab.
"From our Math teacher actually," She answers with her sultry voice as if hinting that there's something more from her statement. I give her a murky look and she merely simpers.
"From Sir Jeremy?" Ella inquires, completely puzzled.
Hailey wets her lips. "He's so good. No wonder Kim is dating him"
Then she walks way, her hips swaying in a conceited-like dance.
I hate her so much.
