Imagine...
You're curled up in your bed with Kevin while he gently strokes your hair. You chat about your college life and how cool your roommate is. You can sense how jealous Kevin is getting so you reassure him with saying that he's the best boyfriend ever. He tells a joke, and you both laugh extremely loudly, forgetting that your mom is downstairs. You hear her heavy footsteps so Kevin automatically knows to hide under the bed.
She bursts through the door, and shouts horrible things at you like 'slut 'whore' and 'skank' for being in a relationship. You start uncontrollably crying and then you hear movement under the bed and you see Kevin rise out of the corner of your eye. He talks back at your mom, protecting you, and she has no choice other than to retreat and go back downstairs. He instantly calms down when she's gone, he calms you down. You both lay there again and you pluck up the courage to say,
'I love you, Kevin.'
'I love you to, Babe.'
You could get used to that pet name...
