In a small cottage a few hours out of the gleaming city of Adelaide, a young girl child sat under a eucalyptus tree, red dust staining her feet. Blue skies and sun scented wind blew over the land. Contentment welled up in the child as she watched a small bilby rummaging around for roots and insects.
"Aria!" A woman's voice called from the doorway of the cottage. The girl turned and waved wildly.
"It's time we sent our respects. Come inside now please." Aria stood up brushing the remnants of dirt and leaves off her clothes and skipped to the cottage where her mother and father waited for her, never knowing exactly what they had gone through to bring about this peace.
Before she went inside to pay respect to her mother's Old Mother, Aria took one last look at the land. The dry heat that sucked all the moisture out of the air, red dirt, pounded by millions of years worth of feet, animal and human. Native animals roaming free and wild, each contributing to the way of the land. Harsh yet gentle, there was something magical about this land.
This was her home.
