Chapter 32: Foes and Allies
(ROBIN)
The sound was loud and Starfire was grinning while floating atop of me.
"Let there be war." I tried standing but I was too badly injured. I can't fight in these conditions. I know I'll end up worse or yet killed.
"ROBIN!" I saw Cyborg throw a retractable rope from his arm. I grabbed it and he sends me right to his side.
"How did you—"then there were sounds of gunshots
"No time. I'll explain later for now we have to get out of here!" Cyborg pointed at the direction of a Tamarian vessel. It was small but enough for me and Cyborg.
"Hurry!" he said as Starfire and her army followed as they tried to prevent us from leaving.
"Don't let them escape! Don't let any of them escape!" Starfire ordered and the others obeyed. It was as if she was being controlled.
"Blackfire, fire up the engine!." Cyborg said in his intercom and I looked at him shocked.
"Blackfire?! She's a—"I was stopped
"Traitor? I know. But now she's a traitor to them and now in our side. She helped me. And you can't believe what she said." I looked at Blackfire managing the controls. Limping and aching sometimes yet she tried her best.
"I want to know." I said firmly
"Yeah, I figured but first can we get out of here first." It wasn't a question it was a statement.
We hopped onto the vessel leaving Starfire's rage and chaos. For I know this War she says, is not over.
"We made it." Cyborg huffed and went to the ship controls where Blackfire was.
"Blackfire we made—"Blackfire was sprawled on the floor. Her bruises are still visible and her forehead was bleeding.
"We need medication now!" Cyborg was tending to her bleeding forehead. I gave him all the things he need and looked for some things useful in the ship
"She'll be fine. She was overworking herself." Cyborg said. We were both left in the control room while Blackfire rest in one of the ship's room.
"Why is she helping us?" I asked in a firm manner. It isn't that I hate her. I can't trust her after what she did.
"She was imprisoned in the most guarded prison in the galaxy remember?" CYborg said and took a long good sigh.
"She was used Robin. Starfire just used her. She was freed thinking there was pardon but Starfire came in and told her things. She was tempted and she said yes. But she didn't know that the "mission" was spying and deceiving us." I looked at Cyborg and he looked hateful but also felt pity for Blackfire. It wasn't her fault he said.
"Okay. I understand. But I can't trust her fully so we have to look out for her. She may still be under Starfire's command. We can't lower our guard just because we feel pity." I said and Cyborg nodded.
"Fire up the coordinates and head straight for earth. We need to prepare. We can't lose more than what we did before." I said and Cyborg followed the command. And in no time we were already landing near the titan's tower with Raven looking at us from the windows.
"What happened?" Raven asked and we retold her all that happened. I left out the part where Starfire and I talked privately.
"Yeah, I understand." Raven nodded and then someone moaned form behind us
"A-are we safe?" It was Blackfire. She was holding her bandaged head and her bandaged body. She really took a lot of hits. I don't even want to ask where or who she got those from
"YOU TRAITOR! AZURATH METRIOS SYNTHOS!" Raven casted a spell but Cyborg blocked the way before it could even hit Blackfire. Raven stopped short.
"Why are you protecting her?" Raven asked sternly.
"I know it may seem bogus that I'm protecting her but she did help us escape from Starfire's wrath. If she didn't do it we would have been sheesh-ka-bobed tamaranian style." Cyborg said
"How can you trust her?" she spit out the words. She was once controlled by Starfire without her permission and she seems more distant after that than before.
"We don't," I said. I can't trust Blackfire anymore. She's a tamaranian and whatever Starfire did something to control her, who says she's not controlling her now? We have to be prepared.
Raven backed away; she crossed her arms and sighed.
"So, what now?" Raven said
"We have to fight Starfire and find a way to break her out of a trance or whatever she's in. I know she's not herself. She seem trapped or something." I said and I recalled the time where her façade dissolved for a bit and her eyes warmed but then returned with excruciating pain and coldness.
"How do we do that?" Cyborg
"Raven, can you make a spell to enter someone's subconscious?" I asked
"Sure, but there are consequences." She said. I shivered by the way she said consequences, as if it was making or losing something for the sake of gaining this.
"We have to try. When can you be ready?" I asked.
"In a 2 days' time there will be a blue moon, not just any other blue moon. It's the time where the demon world has connection with this world. Most likely, my powers will be stronger that time." Raven said, but then Blackfire stirred and said something.
"Starfire...will...come...in...2...days..." she struggled with the words and she seem to tired but her hands gripped Robin's tight. She was scared, very scared.
"Whatever it is, we'll be ready. Raven do all the things necessary for the ritual. Cyborg call for backup make sure they are informed about the war. Send Blackfire to one of our rooms and make Beastboy guard her." Cyborg said and Beastboy, who seem to be in a dog form followed.
"Robin, who wll go to Starfore's subconscious." Raven asked.
"Me." She looked at me and her head sank.
"Is something wrong?" I asked. She seems troubled when I said I'll be the one going.
"Robin. You have undoubtly the strongest connection to Starfire compared to any of us but, it's what going to make the ritual hard." She said
"This is a ritual with the strongest of will. The moment you lose your grip to reality is the moment you hold your last. If what you said is true, that Starfire is being controlled. I can track who it is but you make the decisions on your own inside this. Lose something or gain. It is your choices. And I fear that the worse will come if you fail." She said.
I had the strongest connection to her before. I know I can bring the old Starfire back.
"I have to do this Raven." I said firmly. I looked as determined as I want
"Fine, until then prepare yourself. It may be bloodier in there than the war itself." And I Raven left me alone.
We have new foes, unexpected ones.
And allies we never would have thought.
How twisted can our story get?

Sorry for the long long wait. It was hard for me to balance my schedule nowadays and I've been finding free time from my school and studies to write this.
