I pulled up the zipper on my boots and stood up, slipping on my jacket. It’s been two days since both Damien and Colten left. I know I told Colten to come back in three days, but Damien left without a word...except words. I need to get away from you... Those seven words continued to repeat themselves in my head. Maybe it was telling me to forget about him, but I wasn’t about to. After strapping on my side bag filled with some snacks, I headed downstairs. I wanted to sneak out, hopefully when they noticed my absence, they’d look in my room and find my ‘reason of leaving’ note on my side table. Which of course, my reason was Damien. And finding him. I needed to. I slowly turned the corner to check the living room, which had a perfect view of the hall way to the front door. Seth and Emily were sitting across from Michael and Krista, talking and laughing. Okay, they’re all oblivious...I’ll be fine. I took a couple slow steps to the door, until the floorboard creaked. I froze in place, looking over at the group, whose eyes were now all on me. I jumped up, standing as casually as possible. “Hey guys...” “Where are you going?” Krista asked, slowly standing. “Uh...” I turned quickly, running towards the door. As I opened the door, the door knob was pulled out of my hand as it was slammed closed. Krista stood in front of me, arm extended holding the door shut. “I don’t think so. We’re on lock down.” “I need to find him, Krista.” She let her arm drop, rolling her eyes and letting out a frustrated sigh. “Fine...give me five minutes.” “Five minutes?” “I’m coming with you. You’re not going alone.” She turned, only to find that now Michael was standing there. “And who said you could go?” “You don’t own me. I’m not letting her go alone.” She pushed past him but was pulled back by his hand in hers. “And I’m not letting you go alone either.” “I’ll be with her.” “I don’t care. You’re not going.” “Michael, stop. She’s going whether I go or not, so I’m not letting her go alone.” “Fine. I’m coming with you.” “And what about Emily and Seth?” The couple were now standing at the doorway to the living room. “They can handle themselves.” Michael said, glancing over at the two. “It would be safer for them if you stayed.” “It’d be safer for you if I left.” “Michael, you. Are. Staying.” “Then you are too.” She looked down, pressing her hand to her forehead in frustration. “I go. You stay. Is that easy enough for you to understand?!” “Krista I can’t let you do that! If you get hurt again out there what am I supposed to do?! It’ll be my fault.” “I’ll be fine.” “And what if you won’t be? Then what?” “Then you’ll just have to deal with it!” She shouted, causing everyone to freeze. “I’m sorry...” She whispered, looking down. He placed his index finger under her chin, pulling her face up to his in a soft kiss. “I just want you to be safe...I...I...like you...a lot.” She smiled, “I promise, I’ll be safe.” She turned back to me, “Okay, so those five minutes passed...another five minutes?” I rolled my eyes playfully, “Hurry up okay?” She smiled, turning towards the stairs and rushing up.

I tapped my foot waiting as the couple said their goodbyes. “We’re coming back tonight, we’re not leaving for the damn decade.” The two glared at me, and I simply laughed, turning towards the woods and starting my way off. “I’m leaving!” I called back, smiling to myself. It only took a few seconds before Krista ran up next to me. “So...where are we headed?” She asked, fixing her leather jacket. “I don’t know...we’ll hit the lake, and maybe keep walking a bit more...hopefully I’ll pick up on his scent...”

After nearly an hour of walking, Krista and I came up on a small cabin. “Think he’s camping out in here?” She asked, walking towards it. “I don’t think so...come on let’s move on.” The cabin looked extremely creepy and worn down. “Nope. We’re checking it out.” She pulled me towards the door, opening it slowly. “Come on, vampires first.” She said, pushing me forward. There was a dim light coming from an opening in the wall on the left. Maybe he is here? As I stepped through the doorway, the door slammed shut behind me. I screamed, turning towards the front door and banging on it as it appeared to be held shut. “Krista! This isn’t funny open the door right now!” I shouted, banging violently on the door. I hopped back, and kicked hard on the door. It fell down, and revealed that no one was behind the door. “Krista?” I looked around and my eyes fell on a small note. I bent down, picking up the note and reading it. Thanks for the wolf. Don’t worry, we’ll put her to good use. -Ty “No!” I shouted, crumpling the paper and throwing it down. “Lilly?” I turned, finding Damien at the door. “What the hell! Why!” I stomped over to him and punched him hard in the chest, knocking him back a few steps. “Why would you do that? Why on earth would you fucking leave me like that?! You need to get away from me?! Don’t you know how a girl’s mind works?! How the hell am I supposed to react to that! Damien I love you!” I froze on my last words, not realizing how much i had said. He didn’t say anything. But he did something, he kissed me. After a long sweet kiss, he pressed our foreheads together, “I love you too...now...let’s go find Krista.” “How did you-” “I saw them through my window, I know where they went.” “Why didn’t you-” “Too many of them. We need the others.” “The others? Who?” He smiled softly, turning back to the house, “The supernaturals.”

I ran quickly along side Damien, running towards our cabin. I pushed through the front door, nearly breaking it. “Lillian! You’re back!” Michael said, looking around. “Where’s Krista?” He noticed she wasn’t there, and I didn’t know what to say. “She’s...” “Where is she.” He grabbed me by the shoulders, looking me in the eyes. “Gone...they took her.” “Who’s they?! Where did they take her?!” He shook me, tears started to fill his eyes. “I know where they took her. We need you, all of you.” Damien said, a hand on his shoulder and the last words towards Emily and Seth. “Let’s go.” Michael pushed past us, walking out the door. The couple walked up to us. “Where is she?” Emily asked. “The old factory. The one they used to make furniture at.” Michael must have heard him, because I could hear his footsteps quicken into a steady sprint. We all turned, heading off.

The building looked extremely old, like it was going to collapse at any moment. Light brown eyes began to flutter open as Krista woke up. She took a drowsy look around, and could just barely figure out where she was. Before she could piece it together, a face blocked her view, and she jolted awake. “The new one is awake, Ty.” The figure called, turning and leaving. She blinked her eyes rapidly trying to find out what was going on. “Good...” A deeper voice said, his footsteps getting louder as he came closer to her. He analyzed her, pulling her face up to face his as he brushed her hair away from her face. “Aren’t you a pretty one?” She managed to focus on his face, his dark hair and dark eyes slightly intimidating. “Who...are you?” She managed to whisper. “Oh, right. Forgive my manners, the names Tyler. I’m your new Alpha.” “Alpha?” “Well, well, you really are new. Guess that makes it easier to brainwash you, doesn’t it?” She took notice of the fact that her hands were bound behind her back, and that she was on a chair. “What do you want with me?” He chuckled, “Pretty and dumb. Even better.” She glared up at him, looking around. About seven others stood around the area, watching. “Now...do you guys think she’ll mind if I steal a kiss?” The guys of the group encouraged him, and he smiled. He leaned down, grabbing her hard by her jaw and moving in for kiss. She swung her head back hard, hitting him as hard as she could with her head. He was knocked back, and two of his pack came up and held her roughly by her head. He laughed, “Feisty too...you seem to be just perfect. I think it’s about time we had a girl in the pack.” “I don’t think so. Now, let me go and I’ll be on my way.” She said, trying her hardest to think of a way to get out. “You’ve obviously never negotiated before have you?” “If you let me out now, I won’t kill you.” He laughed again, “Oh please, like your baby teeth would actually hurt me.” She slowly grew her claws out, trying her best to cut at the rope without exposing her plan. “I could rip you to shreds without turning.” She growled, cutting at the last bit of rope. She flipped backwards, knocking him back and the two boys who held her. As she landed, she pulled the two together, knocking their heads where it knocked them out. Tyler stood up, and she moved forward, kicking the chair towards him. At this time the other five had come up, trying her best to grab on to her. Tyler grabbed the chair before it hit him and threw it, the chair shattering as it hit the floor. He walked up to her, Krista being held by three of the guys. “You bitch!” He swung his hand across the air, aiming to hit her, but was caught by something. “Michael?” Krista whispered, staring as he had caught Tyler’s hand by the wrist. “Don’t you fucking dare.” He swung with his free hand, punching Tyler straight in the jaw, knocking him down. Emily and I jumped down, landing on two of the wolves. I dug my teeth into his neck, ripping his head off. Damien and Seth took on two others as Michael beat on Tyler. Krista twisted the last of the wolves’ neck, killing him instantly. She walked over to where Michael was. She pulled him off, her eyes glowing amber now. She lifted Tyler by his shirt until he stood. “I told you...you should have let me go.” She extended her claws, shoving her fist through his chest. He began to cough up blood, falling to his knees. “Now...you die.” She said with a soft smile on her face. “Walter! You never said anything about this...” Tyler mumbled, catching Damien off guard. “Walter? Wait, Krista! Don’t!” But she already did. She brought her claws across his neck, slicing through his skin, causing him to gush out blood as he fell back. Damien ran forward, holding Tyler up. “Don’t fucking die! Did Walter put you up to this?! Answer me dammit!” He shouted, shaking the corpse in his hands. Krista smiled at his corpse, looking over at Michael. With Tyler’s final breath, her eyes began to change. “Krista?” Michael took a few steps towards her, but he took slow ones as he feared what was happening. Her eyes’ amber color began to redden into a deep scarlet. “You...you’re an...Alpha?” He whispered in shock, moving closer to her. “Alpha? ...yes...I’m the Alpha now.” A wicked smile played across her face, and she felt a surge of power rising through her.

I pushed through the front doors of the cabin, trying my best to control my breathing. After the events that had happened, everyone was on edge. Michael was throwing a thousand questions at Krista. She stopped in her tracks, pressing her head with her hands. “Michael can you please stop?! No, I don’t know what this means! No, I don’t know who they were! And yes, for the hundredth time, I’m an Alpha!” She spun around to face Michael. “Now please...I’m already stressed enough. I need a snack and a nap.” She turned to the kitchen now, speed walking towards it. “But what does that mean for us?” Krista froze, turning to face him again. “Us? Why would anything change?” “Because you’re an Alpha. Aren’t there rules or something?” “I’m an Alpha not a fugitive. I have the freedom to date who ever I want.” She walked into the kitchen, opening the fridge. “Why are you so calm about this? You almost died!” He slammed the fridge shut, causing her to roll her eyes. “So?” “So?! Do you know how much you mean to me?! If he hurt you in any way, I don’t know what I would have done.” “Michael it’s not that big of a deal...” “It’s not that big of a deal?! It is a big deal! Krista Steele, I love you dammit!” Krista froze, eyes wide. “You...you do?” She asked, looking up at him. “Yes...I...I wasn’t sure if I should say it but I do. I love you Krista.” She smiled slowly, jumping on him with a hug, wrapping her legs around his waist. He held her carefully, not wanting to drop her, with his hands on her back. They pressed their foreheads against each other, looking in each other’s eyes. “I love you too!” She exclaimed, kissing him softly.

After their romantic confession, the two headed upstairs, Emily and Seth were in the living room, and Damien and I were in our room. We were sitting on the bed, legs crossed, facing each other. “So...what do you think that guy had to do with Walter?” I asked, playing with his hands as we talked. “Well...he’s...was an Alpha...he was after Krista. Why would he want her if he’s after me?” “I don’t know...maybe...he wanted to use her to lure you in or something...” My eyes opened wide, “What if he knew that we were there? That we were going to go after her?! What if he knows where we are now?!” I jumped up off the bed, hyperventilating. “Lilly, relax please...” He stood up, coming close to me and putting his hands on my arms. “He’s going to kill us isn’t he?” I whispered. “No. He’s not. I won’t ever let him hurt any of you.” “He already has though.” I stepped back from him, getting angry at this point. “He got Krista. Twice. Bella’s gone and I’m sure it’s linking to him somehow. He almost got you and I and I just know this isn’t the end.” “Lilly calm down please...nothing is going to happen if we stay here and stay calm and-” “Damien would stop telling me to calm down?! How am I supposed to calm down when any of us could die at any damn moment?!” I shouted, interrupting him. “It’s not going to happen! I won’t let him! Lilly I can’t let him...you all mean way too much to me...especially you...” “What are we going to do then?” “Sit and wait? I don’t know...maybe I can draw him out somehow. If it’s just me he’s bound to come right?” “Are you insane?! You can’t do that alone! He’ll kill you!” I felt my eyes build with tears at the though of that. “He won’t.” “How do you know that Damien? How do you know he won’t hesitate to kill you, huh? Why are you so sure he won’t kill any of us?!” “Because I just know dammit!” He yelled, his eyes beginning to darken. I stepped back quickly, bumping into the wall. “Damien...calm down...” He breathed hard, but his breathing calmed, and his eyes returned to normal. “Lillian...I’m so sorry...” He took a step forward but for some reason, I felt myself want to move back, even though I couldn’t. Why am I scared of him? It’s not like he’s any more of a monster than I am... “I’m trying to control it that’s why I left and I just don’t want to hurt you I-” I rushed up to hug him, which silenced his sentence. “I’m sorry...” He whispered, hugging me tightly. “You’re not a monster, Dami.” I said, to which he stepped back, eyes widened. “Don’t ever call me that!” “What? Dami? But I think it’s kinda cute Dami!” I teased, giggling. He rushed up to me, pushing me against the wall playfully. “Stop it!!” “Dami! Dami! Da-” He pressed his lips on mine, silencing my tease. He kissed me softly, pressing his body against me. Maybe it was the vampirism, but my adrenaline shot up higher than I ever felt. He lifted me up, letting my legs wrap around his waist. He lifted me off the wall, walking us over to the bed as he hovered over me. Suddenly, the double window that was right above the headboard of the bed shattered, and I screamed as he covered my face with his shoulder, trying to protect me as much as he could. He moved up bit so I could see his face, “Are you okay?” “I think so...what was that?” He slowly sat up beside me, examining the damage. The glass was completely broken, as if it was never there in the first place, but the shards were all over the room. He stood up carefully, looking out the window. “Nothing. No one. What the hell?” He looked back at me, and I shrugged. “Are you okay?” Krista pushed the door down, which, considering it was broken, was leaned against the wall covering the opening. She was wearing Michael’s red button up shirt. “What the hell happened?” She asked, looking around and noticing the glass. “We don’t know, it just-” More windows shattered downstairs and Michael ran up behind Krista. “What the hell is going on?!” He shouted, but before we knew it, we heard a scream.

I ran out of the room quickly and jumped downstairs. Seth was laying in the middle of the living room, his chest stained red. “Seth!” I shouted, rushing over to him. The other three came down after me, all having a similar reaction. Emily had her hands on his chest, trying desperately to stop the bleeding as she cried. Michael came up beside Seth, tearing his shirt open to see the wound. Three gashes were cut across his chest, deep. Michael’s eyes teared up as he noticed the wounds weren’t healing. “What happened?” He asked, trying to help stop the blood. “I don’t know! We-we heard a-a crash upstairs! And when we stood up the...the window just like...exploded! And he leaned out the window and something knocked him down and he started to bleed! I don’t know what but he’s not healing and I don’t know what to do!” Emily looked over at Seth, who was coughing up blood as he tried desperately to stay alive. She pressed her forehead against his, touching his cheek softly with her bloody hand. “Please don’t leave me...” She whispered, her tears falling on his cheeks. Damien knelt beside Emily, placing a hand on her shoulder. She looked up, tears running down her cheeks. “Emily...you have to do it.” He said, her eyes widening. “Do what?!” “The bite.” “Bite? No...no I can’t I-” “You know it’s the only way he’ll live!” “Damien I can’t do that to him!” “You have to!” She looked back at Seth, crying even more as she noticed he was taking his last few breaths. She leaned over, whispering near his neck, “I’m so sorry, Seth...” She parted her lips to reveal fangs and dug her teeth into his neck. Krista came up next to Michael, placing a hand on his shoulder. He turned to face her, tears staining his face, and shoved his face into her shoulder as he cried. Emily pulled back, looking at Seth. His body had gone limp, and there was no pulse, none that I could hear. She pressed her ear against his chest and began to weep. “No...no no no! No Seth don’t you dare!” She cried, her head resting on his chest. “Oh please...don’t...” She whispered. Seth...is dead? No...who ever did this is going to pay. I darted out through the broken window, trying to find the cause of this. I looked around, finding nothing. I turned back, looking on the horrid scene. I suddenly felt a piercing pain go straight through my chest, and I looked down to see that there was a blade going straight through my chest. Frozen in pain and fear, I stood still as the figure behind me whispered, “I told you I’d see you soon...”
