The bell rang suddenly and I shot up in my seat. I clumsily grabbed my bag and carried it out into the hall. I sped through the halls, occationally bumping into the shoulders of strangers. I pressed my hand against the lockers.

"Hey!" I turned around to see tall blonde girl run towards me. Her skirt was a light blue and her shirt was a deep maginta. She looked like a barbie doll with her long lashes and long hair. Everything about her was long, her hair, her legs, her lashes. She was what everyone wanted to be.

I even found myself a little envious when she stood next to me. She was at least a foot taller than me. Making her probably almost six feet.

"Um, hello?" I looked up at her. Her teeth were so white as she smiled.

"Hi, I'm Tiffany. You must be Natalie! I just wanted to introduce myself. And I was wondering if you were going to the diner." She smiled.

"Oh, yeah. I totally forgot about that. Um, can I bring my brother?"

"Yeah, yeah! Go ahead. Ask for Tiffany when you get there, if you want."

"Okay, I'll make sure to do that."

"Ty, we're going to a diner thing. Okay?" I met Ty at the corner of the block the school was on. It was starting to rain. I pulled my hood up and wrapped my arm around Ty.

"What? Why? I don't want to go!" He stopped walking and jerked my arm away.

"Because a bunch of people asked me to go and I didn't want to be rude and say no. But I bet they have milkshakes, I'll buy you one. Okay?"

He loked down, thinking and patting his lips with his index finger and said, "Fine. But lets make this quick."

The truck clunked and puffed its way downtown where the diner was. It was the only diner in town and the name wasn't that creative.

Sophie's was the name.

The color themes were a light blue and white. It almost looked like the ones back in the 50's. Like the ones my mom used to like.

Unconciously I placed my hand over my heart. I looked over to see that Ty had made a face.

"It's smells funny." He said.

"I know," I sighed. " just don't go crazy when we get in there. That reminds me, I have to tell you about today. Something really weird happened-"

"Natalie! You made it!" Connor, the lemon haired boy, stood in the door way, holding it open. He had a dirty apron wrapped around his waiste.

"Hi Connor." I smiled, " This is my brother, Tyson. Ty, this is Connor."

"Hey bro, nice to meet you." Connor stuck his hand out and Ty hesitantly shook it.

"Hi." Ty said.

"So," Connor smiled. " There,s an empty booth by the window. I'lll show you to it. If you want."

" Yeah sure." We followed Connor into the the diner.  He handed us our menus and asked us what we wanted to drink.

"Water."

"Milkshake!" Ty exclaimed and looked at me. He gave me the type of face that said oh-yes-you-are-paying. I felt a smile creep onto my face, he smiled at me back.

"Okay, it'll be right out." And then Connor left.

"That guy likes you, Nat."

"What are you talking about? I just met him today."

"So?"

"So! He obviously can't like me after one day. Not even a day."

"Nat.... He likes you."

"Ty, I don't-"

"One water," Suddenly Connor appeared out of no where. " And one milkshake. Can I get you anything else?" I looked up at him, he was staring right at me. I averted my eyes. Dang, Ty probably was right, I thought. Connor could have liked me.

"We need time." Ty ordered him off.

I looked back to make sure connor was fully gone before I spoke. When he was, I sighed a heavy and long sigh.

"I think you're right Ty."

"I told you." He took a sip of the banana milkshake and smiled. "Damn, this milkshake is good."

"Tyson Jansen! Don't cuss."

"Why not? You do."

"That's different. And because I said so. God, when did you start swearing?"

"Since mom died."

I stopped. He hadn't talked about mom since her funeral and that was probably  months ago. I didn't even want to think of her. I missed her and just the thought of her hurt my heart even more. It throbbed at this point.

"I miss her too but don't swear." I ordered.

"Yeah, okay."

"Thank you." I took a sip of the water and looked around. A group of kids sat across the diner from us. They looked over at us, their eyes were almost ominous.

All the eyes were dark except one. His eyes were the crystal blue eyes I was getting to know. Connor stood above the four others, pouring them water and talking.

They were probably talking about me. I self-conciously looked down.

"So Ty, about today, that thing..." I attempted to distract myself from the eyes of the other kids. I caught myself looking over, though.

"What?"

"Some ghost said he needed to help me with something."

"That's creepy.." He sighed

From the corner of my eye I say connor walk up. I looked over and he was smiling, his nice big smile.

"So what can I get you to eat?" He took out a pocket note pad and a pen.

"I'll have a cheeseburger with everything." I softly spoke.

"And I'll have some chicken tenders." Ty ordered.

"Any sauce?"

" Nope."

"Ok. It'll be right out." He gave me one last lingering smile and left. I felt a blush coming on.

"I don't know you." I heard Ty tease. I softly laughed with nervousness.

"Hello." I looked up to see a tall boy. I couldn't say anything.

I observed him though. His eyes were a dark brown but yet it was golden in the center around his pupil and his hair was almsot as dark as his eyes.

"Hi. Who are you?"

"I'm Reeve Watchtel. How do you do?" He bowed his head, which made some of his long dark hair fall infront of his dark eyes.

"Hi I'm Natalie-"

"Natalie Jansen. I know. You're sort of new here.."

"Yeah.."

"I just wanted to introduce myself."

"Oh, well hello Reeve." I stuck my hand out for him to shake. He took it, shook it but stopped and stared at me. His eyes went wide with surprise.

Surprise from what?

He gained control over his face again and he smiled. He looked at me for a second longer and then turned on his heel and walked away.

"Well, that was weird," Ty laughed.

I stared after Reeve, wondering what in the world was wrong with him.

"I hope you liked the food."

"Oh yeah, it was great." I lied.

Everyone had left, and it was almsot dark out. Bits of rain fell from navy blue sky. Ty sat in the corner, playing on his phone while I talked to Connor.

"You know, therE's going to be a little get together at one of my freinds house this weekend. If you want to come, I could give you a ride..."  A shy smile played across his face.

"Um, yeah I don't know. I still need to unpack and stuff. But thank you." a honk from outside signaled that Betty was there. " I think I should be getting home."

"Oh ok. I'll see you tomorrow then."

"YeaH, sure."

I wrapped my jacket tighter around my body adn dashed for the truck in the thick darkness.
