Hawkpaw sighed and walked out of the den after Oakstar. He lightened as he realized that it was his first time outside the clearing. Hawkpaw padded beside his mentor towards the entrance.
"After you." Oakstar meowed. Hawkpaw nodded as he padded outside the clearing for the first time. Hawkpaw felt a tingle rush up his paws. He felt excitement run through his body. Oakstar calmly stepped out of the brambles, waving his tail for Hawkpaw to follow. Hawkpaw struggled to get out of the camp, the brambles pricking his pelt like a ShadowClan warrior's claws. At least, that's what Hawkpaw imagined it to be like... He gasped as he looked around at his surroundings, It's so big, He thought. Trees towered above him, fracturing the light so it dappled down on to the amber and red leaves beneath his paws. The leaf-fall sun could be seen high above him, golden like a large fire ball in the sky.

Hawkpaw lay in the apprentice's den, exhausted. He had spent the day exploring the territory with his mentor. There were so many new sights, sounds and smells. Despite being small, he kept up with Oakstar well due to his long legs.
Hawkpaw looked up as Willowpaw, fluffy, pale gray apprentice, pushed her way into the den. Her sparkling emerald eyes looked at him in concern.
"Are you ok?" She meowed.
Hawkpaw nodded briefly, "I'm just tired."
Willowpaw paused, her steps faltering.
"We couldn't find you...."
Hawkpaw stood up and stepped towards her, his tail flicking grumpily.
"Well you have now. Happy?" He hissed, rudely. Willowpaw stepped back.
"If that's how you are." And she strutted out the den. Hawkpaw bowed his head, What happened? he wasn't the kind to be rude. Hawkpaw stepped towards the den entrance. He hesitated, one forepaw in the air. He needed to fix this... but what if she wouldn't listen? Hawkpaw turned and curled down in his nest, deciding he would apologize in the morning.

Hawkpaw awoke early and he gazed at his friends sleeping then noticed someone was missing... Willowpaw! Hawkpaw carefully stepped past his friends and out of the apprentice den. He scented the air, there wasn't much to sce...... WindClan! He gasped. How did they get in the camp? No time to think about that. Then running into the forest Hawkpaw felt something grab him by the scruff roughly.
"Where are you going?" A harsh voice barked through holding Hawkpaw. So this is the WindClan tom. Hawkpaw did not hear his voice as it was muffled by the mouthful of Hawkpaw's fur he had in his jaws. It hurt.
"I scented mouse....." Hawkpaw lied.
"No you didn't! You knew I was here!" The small, gray tabby warrior hissed. Hawkpaw went limb. He didn't care anymore, he didn't deserve to live. No! I will win!
Hawkpaw stayed limp, wondering if he could fool the WindClan cat. It worked. The tom lay him down. Staying limp like he was dead, Hawkpaw allowed this. Then he jumped up and ran off into the forest.
There is no help there! The gray tom thoughtv evilly, as he padded off to the right.
