Quinn's pov:

"Same as always?" Dina asked me, as she wrote down Hannah's order.
"Make sure you add in the extra cream."
Dina clicked her pen and headed back into the kitchen to prepare our milkshakes. It was me and Hannah's weekly tradition to go to Dina's Diner every sunday after youth group. It was a good way to start the week and catch up with the drama. Who's hooking up with who? Who's talking smack on who? What's the drama on twitter? It was basically our normal topics, depending on how traumatic the week had been.
"So, how's Parker?" I asked Hannah.
"Our five month anniversary was a few days ago. I mean, besides that, there's nothing really new with him. We're pretty happy and that's it."
"You both still have your v-cards?" I joked.
Hannah smacked my hand and laughed.
"The biggest virgin in our school is making fun of me for being a virgin. Pretty ironic, eh?"
"Um, excuse me, but Jason and I had done stuff when we were dating. I wasn't the biggest virgin in our school."
"Well, to answer your question, I am still a virgin, but I do plan on having my first time with him for our 6 months."
"Are you sure you wanna make that commitment?" I asked, "That's only a few weeks away. For all you know, he could have an STD."
I could tell Hannah had seemed a bit offended by my statement, but it was a valid statement. Parker wasn't a bad guy, but he wasn't a virgin either. In fact, it's a mystery how many girls he's hooked up with before he was with Hannah. Considering the fact that Hannah has been my best friend for eight years, I wanted to protect her.
"I trust Parker. I know he's fallen into mistakes at times, but he's really brought himself back up. He's never cheated on me or lied. I really feel like I want him to be my first time."
"Just make sure he's got a condom on."
Hannah smiled and nodded. I was gonna support her no matter what her decision was. Even if I didn't, it was her life and not mine.
Dina brought out our shakes.
"Thanks Di," Hannah and I said in unison.
"If you need anything else, just holler back."
I took a sip of my shake, realizing it was made just the way I liked it. Hannah continued talking over-passionately about Parker. How he took her to a fancy Italian restaurant. The poem he wrote for her, which I actually think kind of sucked although I kept that to myself. How he brought her to the college basketball game. Same old, same old. However, being her best friend, I was supportive and pretended like it was new information.
The sound of my phone interrupted Hannah in the middle of her sentence. I picked it up to see that it was, surprisingly, Leo.
@ayoitsleo98: long time, no see (:
@quinniem: well a difference of four days must seem like a while since we've talked!
Hannah noticed that I'd looked down at my phone.
"Who's that?"
"Um, his name's Leo. Just some boy that I met online."
She rolled her eyes.
"Oh so you're gonna talk to boys online, but you won't date Jason Sorenson?"
"Since when did Jason Sorenson become a part of this conversation?"
"I'm just saying-"
I cut Hannah off so I could finish my message to Leo.
@quinniem - do you mind if I message you later?
@ayoitsleo98 - sure don't forget (:
I put my phone back in my pocket.
"Alright, continue."
"As I was saying," Hannah started, "You were dating Jason Sorenson. Jason Sorenson. Just think about it. He's gorgeous. Half of the school's population wants to date him. He's the school's quarterback and throws the best parties. There's nothing to not love about Jason Sorenson and it's still a Fletcher High School mystery on why you broke up with him."
"There's nothing wrong with him. I'm just not ready to be in a relationship."
I wasn't about to make some huge speech about Jason. It wasn't worth the time. I felt as if everyone expected this huge story about him cheating on me or some dramatic scenario. Really, that wasn't the case. I just wasn't striving for a relationship. It was too much stress and required time that I didn't have.
"Yet you're talking to a boy online."
"I didn't say I had an interest in the boy. I barely know him."
It took Hannah a little while, but before I knew it, she said what I wanted to hear.
"Well, you've been supportive towards me and Parker. So as your best friend, I should do the same towards you and your decisions."
"Thanks Hannah."
"You know he's still interested in you though, right?"
"Well, that's his issue. Not mine."
"But seriously, you really wouldn't ever take him back?"
"Maybe sometime in the far future, but the chances are slim. I just don't understand why it concerns you so much."
"Because I'm like you're sister, Quinn. If I think a guy if good for you, I'm gonna be honest with you about it."
"He's not a bad guy. The only thing is that his confidence level is beyond my limits. He walks around school like he owns the place."
It wasn't a lie when someone said Jason was conceited. Everything he did was attention seeking. The way he talked. The way he performed every activity he did. He thought every girl wanted him. Even though it's true that every girl wants him, it doesn't justify his pride. I couldn't blame him for why he was the way he was. He grew up in Manhattan until he was twelve. His parents were rich lawyers who lived in a beautiful house. Along with huge house, that's where the best parties were thrown. He had the good grades, a good football position, and the looks. His blue eyes and caramel hair made every girl swoon.
Right as I finished that thought, Jason and a few of his football buddies walked on in. Just my luck. Of course, I was the first thing that Jason saw when he walked in. He didn't give me a look of lust or desire, but a look of confidence. The same cocky look rested in his eyes.
He walked over to me and lowkey flexed his biceps.
"What's new, Q?" He smirked.
Hannah smirked at me as well, hoping I would hit it off with him.
"Nothing much. Just the usual."
"So I was thinking," Jason started, "Connor and I are throwing a party for halloween if you ladies are interested in coming. My parents are gonna be gone and I could definitely use someone to hook up with."
"Nice try, Sorenson. I don't think your ex would like to have a one-night stand with you."
Jason squeezed himself into the booth next to me. Hannah stepped aside to let us have our space.
"Picture this, Q. It's Halloween. You have two options. You can stay home and go trick-or-treating with your baby nieces or you could hook up with someone like me and have an actual good night. Which do you think is going to build up your high school years?"
I stayed silent.
"Exactly." Jason said.
"One night. That's it. But if you do anything stupid or try to mess with me, I'm leaving." I said.
"Sounds like a plan."
Jason winked at me. But I pushed him aside to get out of the booth. Or at least I tried to push him aside. He refused so I had to practically climb over him to get out. I felt his hand slap my butt as I got up. I ignored it. The more attention I gave, the more motivation he received.
"C'mon Hannah, let's get going."
She got out her car keys and twirled them around her index finger. We walked on out before Jason had anything else to say.
Once I got home, I finished up my last bit of chemistry and french homework. I had wanted to message Leo, but I had to put some more important priorities first. Once I finished up, I hopped back onto my bed and messaged Leo.

@quinniem - I'm back (:
@ayoitsleo98 - hey (:
@quinniem - how've you been ?
@ayoitsleo - same as always. wby?
@quinniem - oh nothin much. just got back from the diner with hannah. my ex basically forced me to hook up with him for a halloween party lol.
@ayoitsleo - oh really? i'm sorry about that. that must suck ):
@quinniem - don't be sorry. i'm just doing it so he'll leave me alone afterwards.
@ayoitsleo98 - well, I mean, I have a girlfriend, but I don't know if i'm feeling it anymore.
He had a girlfriend. Not that I was interested in this boy. I never really got attached to boys online, but it still made me wonder why Leo was messaging me in the first place. I had no idea how I was supposed to reply.
@quinniem - aw really ?
@ayoitsleo98 - yeah, it's been a crazy long two years.
Oh wow. Two years? That's way longer than I was expecting. I was thinking like 2 months.
@quinniem - that's a crazy long time.
@ayoitsleo98 - well after she cheated on me three months ago, i gave her another chance. but now it's sort of settling in my mind that I don't want that in my life.
I didn't know what to say. I was hoping he wasn't expecting some whole novel of advice. I barely knew Leo so how was I supposed to help him?
@ayoitsleo98 - sorry , you probably didn't want to hear all of that.
@quinniem - no it's okay ! (: just do whatever makes you happy. you're smart.
Hopefully that was somewhat decent advice.
@ayoitsleo98 - thanks quinn. (: and then there's my crazy family lol
@quinniem - what about them ?
Now that we were farther into the conversation, I was more excited to learn about him. What was Leo like outside of the internet?
@ayoitsleo98 - oh, nothing much really. not to go into some deep talk, but my mom died when I was 6, so my dad is remarried to an insane freak. I've never met someone who's more OCD. Her name is Kendra. My brothers, Liam and Nate, are supportive, but we still constantly fight. And then they had a little girl. Her name is Lily and she's five. she clings onto me 24/7.
@quinniem - oh wow, so you have three siblings living with you ?
@ayoitsleo98 - yeah lol. my dad's been trying to get Nate to move out since he's 19. Kendra hates him as much as she hates me. She just wants Liam and Lily.
@quinniem - i'm so sorry Leo. what happened to your mom?
@ayoitsleo98 - car crash. she had a late shift at work and around 11 o'clock. some drunk bastard swerved and hit her car head on.
@quinniem - if you ever need anything, i'm here.
@ayoitsleo98 - don't be sorry (: it's sad, but you've got to move on, right? what about your family?
@quinniem - a mom, a dad and an older sister. that's about it.
Leo and I continued to talk for awhile. I was slowly learning more and more about him, just like he was learning about me. I think the best thing was that Leo wasn't doing this for sympathy. He just simply wanted to talk. After awhile, he told me he had to go to the gym with one of his buddies. I let him go and decided to go eat an early dinner.
Leo's pov:
7:05 PM // Pennsylvania / Eastern Time
Right after I got off the chat with Quinn, I went to the gym with my friend, Justin. It was later in the evening, but I was really needing to catch up with my weekly workouts. Justin and I grabbed our protein bars and water bottles and headed off to the weight room. I took a swig of my water and set it down on the bench. I found a set of weights and lifting. Justin did the same. Justin started asking me about Abbie, which was the last thing I wanted to talk about, especially since I'd finished talking to Quinn. Abbie was my ex and I was pretty sure she was still hooked on the boy she cheated on me with.
"It's been three months, almost four, since that whole situation happened. Why don't you just get over it?" Justin asked.
"It doesn't justify what happened. And not only that, I'm just simply getting bored with it. I think it's time for me to be finding someone new."
"Well you better be sure before you do that. You don't just wanna blow off a good two years like that."
I nodded. I remembered about Justin's halloween party he was throwing. It wasn't too far away and I knew things would probably get really heated there between Abbie and I. Last year at the party, Abbie and I had a whole hour to ourselves in the guest room. I partially regret it, considering the fact that I was completely drunk. I was a sophomore and so was she.
"Just think about it," Justin said as he finished off a set.
"Have you found anyone to hook up with?" I asked.
"Well," Justin stuttered, "I'm lowkey talking to the cheerleader, Veronica. I'm hoping she'll show up to the party."
It wasn't long before I headed off to the treadmills. I was tired and just needed to slow it down. Mentally and physically tired.
Halloween was going to be crazy this year.
Authors note:
I'm grounded. Woohoo. Holla at me.
The typical experiences of a sophomore girl. (:
much love,
