"Bombs?" I asked.
Clove gave me an evil grin. "Of course, Elmer. Of course we want bombs. If you do a good job making bombs, we'll save you until the end. Does that sound good, sweetie?"
"Ummm, I guess I could try..." I said.
The Careers had already dug up the bombs from under the things we stood on at the start of the games. I got to work on the bombs. I dug some little holes and put the bombs underground.
"So, what are we going to do with these bombs?" I asked.
"Obviously," said Cato waking closer to me, "we'll set them up around our food and supplies so that no one can steal it. If they try to steal it, they'll get blown up."
Katniss!! I thought in my head. And Rue. What if they try to steal the food? Will they die? Can I do this? But, if I try to run away, will they kill me? Probably.
That night we slept and I heard a noise in the bush, it was Katniss and Rue! I got up quietly and carefully stepped around the Careers that were lying on the ground.
I whispered, "hey guys where did you go?"
Katniss grabbed my shirt and pulled me into a bush near by.
"You idiot!" She screamed, "You can't be talking to us and being an allie of the careers! Get back in there and get back to sleep. But please, don't kill us or let them kill us." Katniss and Rue stood up and walked away.
As I left the bush to go back to camp, I see Cato looking in my direction.
"Hey, 3! Get over here!" I walked towards him, very afraid.
"What's the problem Cato?" I tried to sound as innocent as possible.
"What was happening over there?"
"Ummm, well, I heard a noise in the bush so I went to investigate and there were some people. So I tried to throw rocks at them, but they ran away screaming at me. And then I came here." I hope he'll believe that slight lie that I told.
"Whatever!" Cato growled at me and he walked away.
The next day we were all eating, when we saw some smoke.
