"Wake up Jasmine, time for breakfast!" Yelled Jasmine's mother, Victoria. A chocolate woman of class. That's what she called herself anyway. "Hurry up your food is getting cold!" "I'm up, I'm up!" Yelled Jasmine from her room upstairs. Jasmine gets up and walks into the bathroom. Her phone rings. It's a text message from her boyfriend, Jamal. He said he missed her and that he had something special for her. As she read this, a smile grew upon her face. "What could this mean?" She thought to herself. "Is he going to ask me to marry him?" Jasmine got excited.
She thought that her lifelong dream of Jamal asking her to marry him was going to come true since they have been dating for five years. She loved Jamal; and he loved her too. "Damn it Jasmine, if you don't get your ass down here!" Yelled Victoria. As Jasmine ran down the steps her mother said, "I don't know what's wrong with you kids nowadays, taking so fucking long to do one little thing." "Sorry mom." Said Jasmine. "But guess what? I think Jamal's going to ask me to marry him.!" Victoria looked at her with rage.
"Girl you must be so damn stupid if you think that fool's going to marry you." She said this serious faced. "That man is no good and i don't like his thuggish ways. If you were smart you would leave his ass and get yourself a real man." Jasmine rolled her eyes.
"Whatever mom. Have you ever took the time to think that maybe i like guys like Jamal, huh? It doesn't even matter because me and Jamal are going to be together no matter what you think or say." "You know what, I don't have time for this shit. Go get dressed your going to be late for school." Victoria said mad but calm. Jasmine didn't say another word and went upstairs.
As she was getting ready, her phone rang again. It was another text message from Jamal. He said he couldn't wait to see her. He couldn't wait to show her what he had for her. Jasmine's smile grew wide. She was so happy, and now that Jamal might ask her to marry him just made her even happier. She finished getting dressed and sat down on her bed. Before she could even think her mom calls out. "Jasmine, let's go, you're late!" Jasmine got right back up, grabbed her bag, and ran down the steps and out the front door.
