Chapter 3
3rd person
Elena walked through the front door of the Salvatore boarding house. She walked straight into a hall and called for Stefan, "Stefan?" Elena felt goosebumps on her arms.
"Hello?" Elena jumped, gasping. She turned to be face to face with a handsome man. His eyes were crystal blue and his hair jet black.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have barged in, but the door was open so-" she looked back towards the door that was once open but now closed.
"Um..."
"I'm Damon, Stefan's brother." He said looking deep into Elena's eyes.
"He didn't tell me he had a brother?" She said backing away nervously.
"Well he is not the one to brag," Damon said smirking. Elena felt chills and it wasn't because of the house, but because of the uneasy smirk Damon had. "Come, let me show the house." He said leading her straight into a humongous room, that must be the living room. She stared in awe.
"This is your living room!"
"Not really my taste." She smiled, rolling her eyes. "Now I know why my brother is so smitten." Damon said smirking. "I thought he'd never get over Katherine."
Elena looked at him confused and Damon knew his plan was working. He acted innocent and said, "Oh, you guys didn't have the awkward ex's conversation yet, whoops..."
Elena sighed feeling uneasy knowing this was a mistake.
"Hello Stefan!" Damon smirked and Elena whipped her head at the direction of a pissed off Stefan.
"Elena I didn't know you were coming." Stefan said talking to Elena but starring at Damon.
"I know, I should've called I was just-"
"No don't be silly your welcome anytime! Isn't she Stefan?" Damon said raising a eye brow. "You know what? I should break out the family photo albums or some home movies, he wasn't always a looker though." Damon said the last part whispering closely to Elena. Stefan glared at Damon but Elena realized, the whole time Stefan stared at Damon and not her. Not even once.
"Thanks for stopping by Elena." Stefan said, Elena's mouth dropped.
"Yeah I should probably go.... it's was nice to meet you Damon."
"Great meeting you too Elena." Damon said taking her hand and kissing the top. Elena walked out but not before stopping to look at Stefan who was still glaring at Damon, she sighed and shook her head. 'I was an idiot for coming here' she thought.
"Great gal! She has spunk! But you, you look pooped let me guess the hospital?" Damon said laughing.
"Someone had to clean up your mess." Stefan said sighing.
"Well were you successful? You know if you don't feed properly, non of those little tricks will work right?" Then Damon now had a different tone than the one with Elena. This one was scary. But Stefan didn't care.
"How long was Elena here?"
"Scared?"
Nina's POV
"He's in the rebound and has crazy family issues." Elena sighed staring at her plate during dinner.
"Wait till you meet a guy with lying and cheating issues!" I snorted, causing Elena to laugh at me. I shrugged, 'Nothing wrong with snorting!'
All our eyes went to the door as Jeremy comes in obviously drunk. I rolled my eyes not bothering continuing to eat my food. I looked up to see Aunt Jenna throwing her half eaten apple at Jeremy's back. I smiled and looked back down at my food. I could still remember that night.
"Get the hell off me!!" I yelled struggling. He kissed my cheek and neck. I screamed "Help!!"
I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulder looking up at Elena's worried face. "Hey are you ok?" I smiled reassuringly finishing up my food.

Elena's POV
It was really crowded and town's people walked around lighting each other's candles. It really gave me a feeling of warmth and safety. I felt a tap on my shoulder to see Matt smiling, he lit my candle. "Thanks!" I said awkwardly smiling.
He still loves me and I know this from all the looks he gives me. I really did love Matt, but he was just a high school fling. Then everything changed and I moved on, I just hope he will too.
I turn away from him and light another candle without looking to see who it was. Once the candle was lit I looked up and it was Stefan. "Hi" he spoke quietly.
"Hi" I said and walked away without another word.
He grabbed my hand and I turned to face him, "I'm sorry."
"About what?"
He smiled, "About yester-"
"You didn't tell me you had a brother?"
He sighed looking in my eyes but I tried to look away, "It's complicated."
"I know..." I said staring at the sky "He told me about your ex Katherine..." I heard him sigh.
"That's complicated too huh?" He nodded.
"Well Stefan I know how it is, both complicated ex and brother. This was epic and then not." I said and turned to walk away. Tears ran down my pink cheeks and I blew out my candle.
Nina's POV
Elena, Bonnie, Matt and I went to the grill after watching the comet. "Hey Nina." I turned to my left and saw Tyler. Elena glared at him but said nothing.
"What do you want Tyler?"
"I want to talk to you...alone."
"Oh well, she doesn't want to speak to you so bye!" Caroline stepped in front of me. I put my hand on her shoulder and nodded. She gave up and glared at Tyler for a few more seconds and stepped back.
"Let's talk at the bar," I said. I sat on one of the stools and asked for a water.
I could tell he was nervous from his constant fidgeting, "Go ahead Tyler, talk." He turned to me and sat straight.
"Nina, I've known you forever..." I sighed rolled my eyes not wanting to listen to his crap. "Anyway, I know you don't want to listen to me so I'll just say this." I sipped my water and heard him speak softly. "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry." He said covering his face. Tyler never cried and never felt guilty for anything. But than again him and I were best friends before my parents died. "I'm sorry for hurting you, I was drunk and stupid and I fucked up, ok? I know I fucked up our friendship."
I sighed and looked down, tears filling my eyes. "Tyler you...." I couldn't even bring my self to say it. "If Jeremy didn't stop you... you would have-"
"Stop," I looked up to see him staring right at me, "Please stop."
"Tyler I...." I sighed "I do forgive you." he looked shocked.
"What?"
"I forgive you."
"Why? how?"
"Just don't forget, we will never be like we were before." I said hopping off the stool.

I went home after deciding to skip watching the comet and just sit with Aunt Jenna, watching the notebook with popcorn and a big fluffy blanket.
Elena called and said that Vicky was missing and the whole gang went looking for her.
About an hour later, Elena comes home with good news. "Yeah, Stefan found her." I sighed.
"That's good, when you called I was really worried!" I said, sitting on her bed.
"Yeah, sorry. Hey...um...how was the talk with Tyler?" I sighed and put my knees to my chest.
"He said sorry."
"Did you forgive him?"
"I told him I did but I don't know Elena, would you?"
"No." she shook her head.
"Yeah, I thought so too." I say getting up, "I'm gonna see if Jeremy's home yet." She nodded, "Good night Elena."
"Night little sis." I smiled and shut her light.
I walked to Jeremy's room, "Jer?"
"Nope, not Jeremy. It's me, the hypocrite patrol." I looked at her smiling, "What are you doing?" She stood straight closing the desk drawer she was going through. "I've finally reached rock bottom." I giggled. "My mother," I smiled looking at the messy room of my sixteen year old twin brothers. "I'm looking through a sixteen year olds property looking for drugs!" I sighed looking at her Jenna was the strongest out of all of us and she took us in after her sister died. Without her, we wouldn't even be here.
"Jackpot! I see the hiding places never changed."
"You never used to do this, why now?"
"Your asshole of a teacher shamed me good yesterday."
I sighed sitting on a Jeremy's bed, "You got Tannered."
"He showed me I was screwing up." She massaged her temples, "It's not like I didn't know already."
"You're not a screwing up, aunt Jenna." I said furrowing my eyes brows.
"Yes...Yes I am." She stopped, "You know why?" I looked up at her sadly, "Because I'm not her, I can't do it. I'm just going to screw things up more."
"No, no your not, you're just scared." I held her hands in mine, "Everyone's scared Aunt Jenna."
She nodded and got up wiping her tears. "This is why your my favorite!" I smiled hugging her.
I heard a buzz in my pocket

'I snuck out to see Stefan cover for me'
I smiled and shook my head she's crazy.
