i need
i need to slow down.
my heart is beating too fast and
my soul is coloured too deeply
and it won't, it just won't fade away.
maybe i was wrong. yet again.
maybe i don't need a dye that would
last for i n f i n i t y.
because what am i, if not evanescent?
i'll fade, i'll fade for sure.
all of us do.
and I don't need the colour of
i m m o r t a l i t y
to remind me of that fact
again and again and again,
till it breaks me from within
to know that i'll just
disappear someday.
so i'll take this red
and wipe it away.
away from my
very essence.
but the dying embers
would leave behind a
subtle orange
to remind me of a rebellion
that once raged in my soul.
because what am i, if not e v a n e s c e n t?
