There is madness in the air so thick I could cut it with a knife;
I try not to listen to his calls as I run for my life.
‘Where, oh where, could you possibly be?
I look for you here but I still don’t seem to see!
You don’t seem to be here, but I know that you’re there,
why don’t you come out? Is the price too much to bear?’
Panic fills my heart and soul, running from this mystery man,
is he calling for me? What does he want? I didn’t ask, I just ran.
Does he even know that I am here, or just a random guess?
I fear that finding out could be too much to bear, I confess.
With a scraping sound like a dragging foot in something of a crawl,
I wonder if he’s wounded, or if it’s just the sound of echoes in the hall?
He’s starting to cackle now, it’s a mad sort of sound,
it’s entered my head and it’s spinning ‘round and round.
I reach another door and I rush through it straightaway,
the sight that meets my eyes is one that causes my body to sway.
The walls are crimson, dripping blood; the foulest smell is in the air,
the view is more than I can survive, yet I can’t avert my stare.
But I force myself to turn away and exit through another door,
I wished that I could head back the way I came, but what’s in store?
