**Based off the story I Choose You, written for Monica**
The boys were in New York for their tour for a few days, and Louis and I just got back to his hotel room from taking a walk after dinner. He told me to make myself comfortable on his bed while he went out on the balcony to make a phone call. There wasn’t much on, so I ended up watching a rerun of Friends. It was so nice to be with Louis again, tour took up to much of his time and energy, and I knew it was his job, but it was nice when we got our ‘Monica and Louis’ time. After a whole show finished, Louis was still outside pacing around and talking on the phone. I got up and slid the door open, making him spin around and say, “Hey babe!” really fast with a smile.
“Hey…you’ve been awhile, everything okay?”I asked, getting suspicious. I looked down to his phone, the screen still lit up to show he was talking to Niall.
“Yeah, everything’s fine! Go back inside, I’ll be in soon!” he said overly cheerful. I raised an eyebrow at him and quickly snatched the phone out of his hands.
“Hi Niall!” I said running back inside and closing the door before Louis could get in. I locked it and stuck my tongue out at my desperate looking boyfriend.
“Uh, hey Mon!” Niall said nervously.
“What is going on, why is Louis so jumpy?”
“I don’t know!”
“Yeah you do!”
“Nu uh! Can’t make me tell you!”
“So there is something!”
“Crap…”
“Tell me!?”
“Louis has to!”
“Niaaaaall!”
He hung up.
I sighed, unlocked the door, and gave Louis his phone back.
“Did he tell you anything!?” he exclaimed.
“No, don’t worry! I won’t push it if it’s that important.” I replied. I yawned and crawled into his bed, wanting to get warm. He was unusually quiet as he turned the TV and the lights off and crawled in next to me. After a few minutes he nuzzled his nose into my neck and mumbled, “You love me?”
“Of course I do, you know that.”
“Then will you marry me?”
My eyes shot open, I sat up and turned the lamp on.
“What?” I asked, surprised.
“Will…er…will you marry me?”
The thing was, was that of course I would marry him, but I had been dreaming of the day I would get proposed to, and the thing was…this wasn’t how I pictured it. At least it’s not as romantic as I pictured it. I’m not a diva at all, but because this was an important part of my life, I wanted it to be a little more…thoughtful.
“No.” I said.
His face fell.
“Oh right…yeah, it’s probably too soon…and we have the tour and I mean I-“
I cut him off with a long and slow kiss.
“Louis,” I said after breaking it, “Try again. I just want to remember the moment I got proposed to as special and thoughtful. Not something that is just out of the blue and totally informal, ya know?”
A wave of relief flooded his face, glad I didn’t want to break up with him or that I didn’t want to not marry him.
“I promise, Mon, it’ll be better than you ever dreamed!” He said and kissed me enthusiastically.
