It was football world cup final and I had to attend the match as our company was one of the sponsors. Well actually, Dad had to attend it but last few days he had been sick and was not ready to visit the doctor.
I was sitting in the VIP section, waiting for the match to end, it was being dragged, and everyone knew Spain had won. Something caught my interest, $hit it couldn't be him,I wish I could deny what my eyes were seeing, he was standing in the midst of the ground defending his team.
The second half had ended, I, my, eyes hadn't stopped following him, hell it hadn't stopped glaring him. He stopped enjoying his victory, and looked all over the crowd, as if he had felt someone's burning gaze. When his eyes spotted me the smile of his face was vanished, replaced by shock, and astonishment.
One of his team mates called him and he went inside. I blew a breath, a breath of temporary relief!
The usual presentation started and Mr. Peterson gave away the medals and trophy to the runner up team.
Now it was the time to distribute the medals to Spain, I asked Mr. Cook to do the honor but he denied saying he had one of his leg cramped.
The announcement started, the crowd cheered.
He was third in line, I was continuously telling myself to keep up the professional demeanor.
Before his turn could come, he made an eye contact with me.
When we shook hands, I felt the same sparks and the same warmth that i felt years ago. I quickly withdrew my hand, not daring to congratulate him like I usually was doing. Silently praying that no one had notice our unusual exchange.
The rest of ceremony went in daze.
After asking for the way to restroom and, after reassuring my P.A that i needed no assistance, I excused myself.
Well, the restroom was an excuse to escape from those surrounding for few moments.
On the way I saw a wall that could hid me from him and all these people. I lean against the wall, closed my eyes and took a long breath. Trying to lose the stress and tension that has been building in myself for years.
This moment of peace did not last for long.
'Look, how the mighty billionaire's daughter is standing, in such a miserable state,' he mocked, arrogantly.
After all these years that is the only thing he could say?
He is the biggest asshole of the world.
I pointed my finger at him and had parted my lips that I heard a click.
Someone was taking a photo of us.
The photographer started running and he bolted towards him.
I turned around asked my PA to meet me at the exit without asking any questions. Thank God George had parked the car quite near the gate.
I waited for Marie, after she came George started the engine and we headed off.
Marie started working on her tablet.

I just sighed in frustration. '' Marie, block this website and contact the owner'', I firmly ordered by P.A. I just sighed. Why did we have to meet? After all these years? And why I had to be stupid to halt for him? He simply left my life as he didn't care about me and I tried to find him, tried everything in my power I could do, to contact him. But being the jerk he always was and is, he never responded me back. I wish dad was not sick. I wish he had told Jack to go as his replacement, and not me. Marie recognized the thoughts that were whirling in my mind as she tried to comfort me, she hugged me tightly.
'George, to Adam's house', I instantly ordered him hence, surprising myself with the decision.
As soon as we reached Adam's house,I got out of the car and asked them to leave.
He was seated on the chair, his back to me his head sunk in the piece of paper he had in his fingers.
His chair did a 180 and he spoke scaring me, a squeak escaped my mouth.
"I was expecting you".
Looking at my toe nails I confessed "I am sorry but I can't do this anymore."
My sentence did not bought a single wave of emotion on his stoic face.
" I am not astonished at all, actually I was waiting, on how much can your patience last. Waiting, how many days you will be here with me but no with me. How the circle of the engagement ring would keep you moving in the same circle. Is good to know you have found a corner. We were never were enclose in a real relationship." he stated in a bitter yet calm voice.
I bend down on my knees in front of him "Well I am sorry for that, sorry for using you as a way out. Hell, I am sorry for putting you in all the misery, I am sorry".
I started weeping silently.
He took hold of my shoulders made me stand, when I looked into his eye the only thing i wanted to was hug him and I did.
I felt contented.
We stood for a minute like this. And I asked him "Can we be friends?" even though it was too early but I did not want to lose him.
He murmured a yes.
I thought there weren't many good hearts in this world, fortunately I was proved right.
When I got out of his embrace I felt tired, tired dealing with people, with the chaos of life I wanted a change to calm myself in a serene environment. And a brilliant idea struck me
'Hey' I said.
'Hmm', Adam replied while collecting his paper.
'Can I have your car keys?,' I asked.
He rubbed his jaw while thinking and I held his hand and asked with the most pitiable face.
He nodded a yes.
I picked his car keys from the coffee table and ran towards the door.
Unlocked the Royal Royce started the engine, and started my journey to the only serene place I could think of.
