Alexandra's POV
I heard the sound of something making contact with skin. I opened my eyes from my laying position and focused on a figure before me. There was a man who wore camo shorts and a black t-shirt. His muscles poked through the shirt. I had to stop staring at the guy realizing that he was sitting not that far away from me and I was just sleeping. He had brown hair and green eyes.
I heard the noise again and saw he was throwing a rock in the air and catching it with his right hand; his eyes glued to mine. I jolted in a sitting position and then stood up rather quickly. The moment I stood up I felt dizzy. I put my arm out to lean against the tree behind me. My vision started to blur. I reached my other arm and rubbed my eyes and then my temples.
"Sorry to frighten you. That wasn't my intention." I heard someone speak. Once I felt I was okay, I stood up straight and looked at the man who had just spoken.
"Yeah, well when you wake up and find someone watching you as you slept... you get a little a creeper vibe and what not." I replied dusting off my clothes which consisted of the same black skinnies and red tank top along with black boots from the day before. I do not have the best wardrobe so I can't just put new clothes on left and right from my magical closet that supplies it all.
"Sorry about that. I was taking perimeter when I saw you sleeping and I'd figured that a pretty woman like you, in the forest at such time shouldn't be left along. Be glad I found you and not some psychopath." The man got up discarding the rock he had in his hand not a second ago. Wouldn't a psychopath deny being a psychopath?
"Thanks for the concern but since you have officially woken me up, which sucked by the way... I suppose I'll be on my way and let's just hope the creep from earlier who decided to scare this woman half to death does not follow." I picked up my backpack and swung it over my shoulder. I started to walk in this man's direction to leave but as I passed him he chose to speak up.
"The name is Grant if you wanted to know and if you think I'm going to let you walk off alone, then you must be crazy. Do you even have a place to stay?" I had stopped beside him looking at him the moment he talked.
"No but I'll be fine. I'll live." I huffed in a breath, "anyways, once again.. thanks for the concern Grant but I don't need your help." I walked away from him.
"I have food," I heard very lowly, "...and a house that is air conditioned. A house that just so happens to have a spare room and a nice shower."
He had a point. I was still hungry and unfortunately I just had the sudden urge to pee. I did however, desperately need a shower. I could probably just take advantage of this opportunity then leave later when he wasn't looking.
The thought just occurred to me that I have met several males in these last few days and I think they all happened to be werewolves. I sniffed the air a tad. Yep, he's a werewolf. They're all werewolves. Just my luck, haha.
Taking a deep breath I said, "Alright."
"I even have a TV an- Wait... you said yes?" Grant said shocked.
"No.." I rolled out, "I said alright."
"Oh, okay then uhh.. I guess you can just follow me. I'd stay close to me though." He looked around then back at me and whispered, "there are wolves in these woods and I wouldn't want anything to happen to my newly found roommate."
"No shit Sherlock." I said lowly but he heard it with his advanced hearing but shrugged it off.
I followed closely behind him to wherever he chose to take me. We walked for a good half hour before we came up to a backyard of a small one story house. It was tan colored and had white shutters on the windows. There was a deck patio with a sliding glass door. we walked a dirt path that looked to have been created due to usage over time. When we reached the door he stopped and looked at me.
"Uhh, this is my house, obviously, and don't mind the mess, my brother can be very sloppy. Along with myself." He mumbled the last part to himself but I heard it. He opened the door and we both walked in. I had my hands on my backpack straps just under my breasts.
We had entered into the kitchen with a small table that occupied four. Ontop of the table was a box of pizza opened up with bitten crusts still displayed in the box. I looked over to my left and saw dishes piled up in and around the sink. Surprisingly, the floor looked in decent shape.
My eyes trailed back to Grants' to find him observing me.
"What?"
"Nothing, just seeing if you'll run or not. I mean it's not that bad but considering your other option of staying somewhere this must be like a 5 star hotel for you!"
"Sure. Can you point me to where the bathroom is? I seriously needed to pee like an hour ago and you blabbering on about your dirty house isn't helping much." I said blankly.
"Oh! Yeah, umm it's just over here. I'll show you and once you're out I'll give you the grand tour of the house." He smiled at me and lead the way down a hallway then motioned with his hand toward an open door. "Here you go."
I walked in and the bathroom was a small one with just a toilet and a sink. There was an oval-shaped mirror on the wall just above the sink like most bathrooms had ( or just the ones I've trespassed upon). I looked at myself in the mirror.
"Oh my god.." I said leaning up against the sink toward the mirror.
"What? Oh god, don't tell me Jared took a shit again and left it sitting there. He does that just to get on my nerves-" I cut him off.
"Just stop talking. It's not that, it's me. I haven't seen my reflection in awhile and just shocked that's all." I saw the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen. She had long wavy brownish hair with hazel eyes. Her skin had a perfect tan glow to it and her lips were plump and pink. I hardly recognized myself. I heard someone clear their throat.
"Oh yeah, right." I said out of my trance closing the door and doing my business. I had to close the lid to the toilet since it was up. I was probably in there for a good five minutes. When I got out Grant was leaning on the wall with a leg prompt up on it, his knee in the air. When he saw me he stood straight up.
"Okay now," he said clasping his hands together, "as you already know this is the half bathroom of the house and the kitchen is there." He said pointing to where we had come in from. He started to move and tell me about the house but I wasn't really listening about the minor details. We stopped in a long hallway that had three doors. Two on the right and one on the left. We approached the first one on my right.
"This is my room. Uh.. you don't need to see the inside." He moved on to the next room on the left. "This is my brother Jared's room. I'll let him keep his privacy. He's currently out so you'll probably meet him later. If you stay, that is."
We reached the last door on the right and he opened the door. Inside the room was a queen sized bed with a blue comforter. Next to the bed was a small night table with a lamp on it. On the opposite side of the bed was a dresser that matched the dark wood of the night stand. Ontop of the dresser was a television. The floor consisted of blue carpet and white walls. It was simple and relaxing. Only one window brightened the room.
"I'm assuming you like it by your silence and the awe expression on your face..." Once he said that, I hadn't known that my mouth was wide open. I looked at him then ran over to the bed jumping on it. It squeaked a little but I didn't pay any mind.
"OH MY LORD! A BED!" I grabbed one of the pillows and shoved it to my face and closed my eyes. I heard Grant laugh and opened my eyes to see him leaning on the door frame with his arms crossed over his chest.
"I'll get you some clean clothes for you so when you get out of your shower so you'll have something to wear. I can offer some boxers and a long shirt... All I got, sorry."
I sat up on the bed with my feet dangling off the side. "That's fine. I didn't even think about that." I scratched the side of neck. "Where is the shower?"
He showed me where the shower was and let me prepare. I turned the faucet on and waited for the water to heat up. I was about to remove my clothes when I heard a knock. I opened the door and Grant was there with a towel, a pair of plaid boxers, and a white t-shirt. I took them, said my thanks, then locked the door behind me.
I took off my clothes and set them aside neatly on the counter. I hopped into the shower letting the hot water touch my skin. It felt amazing. I had to use Grant's body wash as I didn't have my own. After a long shower I finally got out, got dressed and let my hair fall on my back. It was still wet and left my back cold even through the shirt. I grabbed my clothes and walked to my new bedroom. I set them on my bed.
I got bored after awhile just sitting there wondering where Grant was. By this time it was a little dark outside and I was hungry. I walked barefoot to the kitchen. On my way there I heard laughter from two people. As the kitchen came into view, Grant was facing me on the opposite side of the kitchen table. Someone was sitting infront of him, back facing me, who had his elbows on the table. Grant looked at me which caused the guy before him to turn and look at me.
How did I not notice someone else in the house? What's going on with me? Before I met Jesse, I was perfectly fine and had no contact with many and kept to the sidelines and shadows. Now I'm in the open and my defenses are slacking.
Grant stood up and was the first to speak after a minute of silence of them two staring at me. "Jared this is..." He left it trailing since I never told him my name. I kind of forgot to and it never occurred to me. Damn, I am slacking. My mother would have killed me to know my manners are slipping.
"Alex. Well Alexandra but I prefer Alex. It's so much easier to say and.. I'm just going to stop talking." I stopped myself before I babbled on for the next five minutes about my name and why I liked Alex better. I do that when I'm nervous which I have no clue why I'm nervous right now. Oh yeah could be the guy staring me down like a piece of meat. I looked down at myself and saw what I was wearing. I felt exposed and tried to hide myself by folding my arms.
Jared lifted his head in the air then snapped his head to me then to Grant. "What the hell do you think you're doing bringing a human in here!"
"I'm standing right here.." I added but they ignored me like I wasn't even there.
"She was alone in the woods! I wasn't going to leave her there." Grant shouted at Jared.
"Oh yeah, all alone and cold then the creep snuck up on me, scaring me half to death.." I tried to talk but they still continued to ignore me. They argued for the next few minutes back and forth and I had enough.
"Will you two dogs shut up! Stop sniffing each others butt and calm your nuts!" I yelled at both of them. I looked at Grant. "I never said it but thanks for letting me stay here." I then looked at Jared who had his hands fisted by his sides. "If it's so much trouble I'll leave because apparently you wolves don't like 'humans' in your house." I air quoted humans.
Grant was about to protest to me leaving but then stopped. The two brothers looked at each other.
"What did you just say?" Oh crap, me and my big mouth. I mentally slapped myself.
"Uhh.. I said that if it's so much trouble I'll leave because you wussies can't stand someone in their house." I tried to play it off. Unfortunately, it didn't work.
"No, you called us wolves." Jared spat at me.
"You also called us dogs earlier but I'm just saying. I take offense to that." Grant added putting his hand to his heart as if actually hurt.
"Yeah, about that..." I trailed off fiddling with my fingers and looking at the floor. I heard a growl from Jared.
I really need to learn when to shut up.
