'Could you just email them to me?' Sofie said as she placed four slices of wholemeal bread into the toaster. 'That would be great. Would it also be possible if you could create a new folder called Mistings? Okay, that's awesome. I should be flying out to New York later on this week, most probably on Thursday night...'
'Still on the phone?' Esme asked as she came down to the kitchen for breakfast in a pair of black Chloé cropped jersey leggings and a grey Kain silk blend t-shirt.
Ecie nodded glumly looking into her Greek yogurt.
Esme sat down on a tall wooden stool next to her twin sister and stuck her index finger into the green bowl and tasted the yogurt.
Ecie pushed the bowl towards Esme then rested her head in her arms.
'Well that's finally sorted,' Sofie Thurgood smiled putting the cordless phone down on the worktop. 'Why so glum Ecie?'
'It's Monday,' she grumbled. 'I hate Monday mornings.'
The toast popped up and Sofie took the four slices out and placed them onto a plate then started buttering them and squirting maple syrup onto them before pushing the plate towards Ecie and Esme.
'What do you kids have planned for after school?' Sofie asked licking her sweet maple syrup fingers. 'I was thinking we could check out that new movie.'
'I've got cheer practice,' Ecie replied nibbling at a slice of toast dismally. 'And I've got loads of homework.'
'The school paper,' Esme said chomping on a slice of toast hungrily. 'I don't know what time I'll be coming home.'
'I thought the doctor said not to continue with cheering,' Sofie said turning to Ecie. 'Do you want to handicap yourself?'
'He said that as long as I'm careful,' Ecie replied. 'I saw him and he said I should steer away from the technical stuff and stick to catching people.'
Esme snorted. 'You're too little to catch people.'
Ecie rolled her eyes and handed the rest of her breakfast over to Esme.
Sofie looked down at her BlackBerry Curve 8900 and saw the time. 'If you girls hurry, I can give you a ride to school.'
'Cool beans,' Esme replied brushing the crumbs to the floor and picking up the plate. 'I need to get dressed.'
'Same,' Ecie replied getting up as well.
'Did you surf today?' Esme asked as she pulled a dark salmon By Malene Birger rosette detailed sleeveless top over her pair of black Current/Elliott The Back Lace Up skinny jeans.
'Yeah,' Ecie nodded pulling a cherry-print silk Anna Sui dress over her head. 'It was nice.'
Esme nodded. 'That's cool. Do you think we'll be able to see dad this week?'
'Probably,' replied Ecie putting on a pair of black leather Acne gladiator sandals. 'We can call him later if you want.'
Esme nodded again. 'Coolie,' she slipped into a pair of black Newbark Jacks leather shoes. 'Do you think it's too hot for these?'
Ecie glanced over at Esme's feet. 'Those are cute. Can I borrow them?'
'Sure,' Esme replied looking down at her feet consciously, tucking thick strands of dark brown hair behind her ears. 'These look fine?'
'Yeah,' Ecie nodded. 'We should probably head downstairs before mom has a hernia.'
They went downstairs with their school bags and joined their mother down by her olive Toyota Prius.
'Bye mom. We'll see you later.'
'Have a nice day girls,' Sofie smiled pulling a pair of black Ray Ban sunglasses over her eyes. 'I'll see you later. Love you.'
Esme and Ecie climbed out of the Prius and walked into Malibu Crest High School.
