The girl sprints down the hallway, turning corners and hitting into the walls. Her heart pounds against her chest and her bare feet slap the concrete as she sprints into a large open warehouse, She runs towards a corner and hides behind it. Her breathing becomes shallow and slow, she shrinks backwards into the darkness, the cold wall pressed against her back. The black figure runs into the warehouse and scans the area for her, It strides across the room and peers into the darkness, A growl erupts from it's chest as it spots her, It runs towards her and grabs her by the arm, It slams her against the wall, killing her instantly. It bites her arm and rips her flesh away easily, Sirens echo around the marina it drops her lifeless body and runs away.
"Listen Keith, If you're wrong about this.." The Chief sighs as he climbs out of the car, Keith shakes his head "I heard the distress call, Her tracker stopped here" He pointed to a large warehouse by the waters edge. I sigh and look at my phone "Can't believe I'm up at 3am" Keith stares at me, his bags under his eyes have bags. The Chief walks towards the door of the warehouse and kneels down, He smears his finger along the ground and lifts it to his nose "Recent, Smells human.." I nod at him and reach for the handle of the door, It clicks open and Keith walks inside, he pulls out his pistol and looks around. I walk in after him and the Chief falls into step behind us, I cover my nose with my arm "Sweet Jesus, what the fuck is that smell?" I gag softly and shake my head. Keith laughs "Smells like a Ghoul" He suddenly starts running, he drops to his knees beside a body and checks it's pulse. "Is that her?" I walk over slowly and pull out my pistol, He nods and sighs "Yeah...She's gone." The Chief walks around looking for the Ghoul, He scans the room but sighs softly "Yeah and so is the Ghoul" He takes out his notepad and starts writing down his observations.
I kneel next to Keith, his features look distorted, his sandy blonde hair falls across his eyes, I reach over and place my hand on his shoulder "I looked after her..She lost her parents so I would sometimes buy her lunch" Tears ran down his cheeks and he hides his face from me. "I'm sorry Keith" The Chief walks over beside him and places his large hand on his head, We stay there for what seems like forever, I stand up and sigh "Mr Jones, are you taking the body back to the office?" I look at him, for as long as I've known him he's always been so kind to Keith, He strokes his stubble and nods "Yeah..yeah I will" He turns back to Keith and pats his back softly, I turn and walk back towards the entrance and walk outside into the cold dawn. I climb into the car and start it, the engine purrs to life and I drive away from the warehouse, I look in my rear view mirror to see the Chief carrying her body out, I sigh and pull out of the Marina.
