She cowers in the night
alone and trembling with fright.
She curls herself into a snug little ball
wanting to be invisable to all.
She hears the slamming of the door
then his heavy footsteps on the floor.
He is calling out, yelling her name
as she continues to hide, knowing it's in vain.
When he finds her he grabs her and lets out a roar
as he tosses her down then returns for more.
As he attacks her he laughs, part of the game
he owns her like cattle, a girl with no name.
For years he continues, sure he has won
as the defeat in her eyes shows her will is done.
She retreats to the corners of her mind
He may own her body, but she he will not find.
