Every year, for my entire life I've been normal. Until my 13th birthday. That's when I was brought to the camp. I lived in a orphanage my entire life. I had no last name. When I was dropped off at the orphanage, I had a piece of paper in my blanket that said Jenna. My name. Mrs. Vanders said that she had to take me in. My big hazel eyes, and brown hair. She couldn't resist. On my 13th birthday very thing changed. I was walking threw the streets, back from the library, in the middle of the afternoon, when this large black figure picked me up, and ran with me, in its slobbery mouth. Ir had to be a dog. It ran with me for two minutes. Then it put me down. I was turned towards a forest. I could hear voices like I was in the city, but the forest was empty. Some one patted me on the shoulder.
"Sorry about the transportation, but Mrs. O' Leary had to get out of the arena. I turned towards the voice. It was a tall boy, dark hair, sea green eyes. "I'm Percy Jackson. Welcome to camp half-blood."
Percy took the rest of the day to show me around. He showed me the cabin square, the mess hall, the big house, lake, Pegasus stables, battle arena, camp store, the border, and the camp "stadium" (as I called it, because its actual name is something I cant pronounce). He introduced me to the campers, Chiron, a centaur and and activities director, and Mr. D. (Dionysus). I met his girlfriend, Annabeth. She was a nice girl. And this camp, was huge. It was getting late, and Percy said it was time for the camp fire. I sat with Percy and Annabeth. At the end, Chiron brought me up, in front of everyone may I add, and just held me there. Percy watched anxiously, along with everyone else. Then thunder cracked. All the fires went out. It was pitch black. Then two seconds later, Orbs, or all different colors surrounded me. They all had different symbols in the center of them. Every symbol of the Greek gods except Zeus...
"A child of all the gods..." Chiron said. I looked around, and everyone was bowing at me. All the gods...
I slept in the big house. Chiron said im a threat and I may be killed in the night if I'm not safe. They had mrs. O' Leary, the hellhound, guard my room.
I walked out an pet her on my way out. Chiron had left me some camp clothes on the dresser. I ran out to breakfast. I ha a feeling you couldn't eat any time you want like I could at the orphanage. Everyone was shuffling in their tables when I arrived. A boy named Matt was next to Chiron.
"Well we have a boy, do we have a girl." I had no idea what was going on, so I volunteered.
"I'll do it." I said. Everyone gasped. Chiron even had a nervous look. I walked up next to Matt. He has neon blue eyes, and dark hair. Annabeth had seen me starring at him and explained that technically I could go out with him because I was not a child of Zeus, and he was. Chiron came up to me.
"You are volunteering for the hunger games?" My eyes widened. I had read the book. I didn't want to go. But their was no backing out now. People were already applauding. My blood went cold. My head started to pound. I felt like passing out. I cant do this. I don't know how to fight! The only survival skills I have are knowing when not to buy sushi from a hobo! But I had to. After breakfast, Annabeth came right up to me.
"Jenna are you crazy!!??" she scolded me. I nodded my head. "Tomorrow, they are going to take you. They are going to take u to die." I could help it. I started sobbing. She hugged me. "But your tough. You are one of the strongest demigods around." She handed me a necklace, with an owl on it. "Its a gift from Athena. Celestial bronze. Press the stomach, and it turns into any weapon you choose." Then she handed me a belt thing, with a slit on the side. "If you want it as a dagger, heres my old pouch." She looked at me. "You need to survive."
The next day was terrible. Annabeth wouldn't let go of me. She help onto my hand until we got to the camp border. Then Matt and I started our solo death match, against each other. We were flew by a helicopter to the penum Capitol. When we got there, everything was so clean. So white. Huge monuments, and we got there in an hour. Matt said it must have been some sort of magic. We stepped out of the helicopter, and we were surrounded by applauds. I couldnt hear anything, but the happy shrieking. Some big dudes with purple hair lead Matt and I to a large, what seemed to be apartment building.
"This is where your staying. Top floor." Said one of the big men. Then they pushed us into an elevator. Matt pressed the button to the top floor, and we waited silently. I glanced over at him a couple times but that's it. Then I heard the ding and the doors opened.
