Ella was still nervous about the fact that she was going home with Cameron that night. She'd been to his house once before, but that was the end of year grade 6 water balloon fight. Ella was happy that she had both Diana and Ali in her next class. She ran up the stairs to the third level of the ginormous school. She finally reached the top after climbing at least 30 stairs. She still had to get through two hallways to find her Science class. Ella ran through the long first hallway and then the second. She finally got to her class which was at the end of the second hallway. Ella entered the room and Diana and Ali had saved her a spot at a large table. She sat down in between the two girls. They started chatting about school and homework and all that stuff, when the teacher came in. She did not look happy.
"I think I want to change your seats." She announced.
"Ella, Cameron, you two can sit in the back." The teacher pointed to the empty table at the very back of the class. Cameron rolled his eyes. Ell sat on the right and Cameron on the left. Diana and Ali shot her apologetic expressions. Ella nodded it off and looked back at the teacher.
The teacher had given them some work to do and everyone was right on it. Except Ella. She hesitantly looked over at the boy on her left. He was writing his letter to his future self. He turned his head and noticed her staring, as soon as his head made the slightest twitch Ella turned back to her work. After a few minutes she looked back at Cameron, she was said to see him staring at Diana. Diana looked back and smiled. Ella couldn't handle seeing it so she asked the teacher to go to the washroom.
"Can I go to the washroom?" Ella asked sweetly. The teacher nodded and Ella walked out. Cameron stared at her as she left the class, Ella didn't notice but would loved to have known that information. She started tearing up as she walked down the hall to the washroom. By the time she entered the bathroom she was full blown sobbing. The pain cut like knives in her heart. Cameron, Diana and Ali wanted to know what was going on so they all asked to go to the washroom as well. Diana and Ali rushed to the girl's washroom. Cameron stood outside of it so he could eavesdrop on their conversation.
"Ella! What's wrong?" Ali asked, taking her into a hug.
"I'm still in love with Cameron." Ella sniffled. Cameron was shocked when those words came out of her mouth. He ran back to class and sat back in his seat. Cameron slouched in his seat, still terrified of what he just heard.
Ella had stopped crying and was walking back to the class. Her eyes were red and puffy and she had no idea how to hide it. She entered the class with her two friends. Cameron saw how miserable she was and did feel quite bad for her. But just as Ella sat down in her chair the bell rang, meaning it was the end of class. Now it was lunch, recess and then home...with Cameron. Ella went to the cafeteria. She sat at a small table with Diana, Sophie and Ali.
"So, I like Cameron again." Ella whispered to Sophie. She covered her mouth in shock.
"Oh my god!" She said loud enough for everyone to hear. Some heads popped up from different tables, but Ella ignored them. Cameron walked by them and sat next to Diana. Cameron was directly in front of Ella. Ali, who was on Ella's right, kicked her foot excitedly. Ella glared at her and blushed. There was lots of awkward tension between them.
"So what's up." Sophie- who was on the left of Ella- said.
"All my friends are at lacrosse practice, but I didn't make the team." Cameron said. Ella really loved his high pitched, girly voice. Ella nodded awkwardly.
"So you guys are...partners." Sophie said, referring to their project in history class. Ella nodded shyly.
"Ya." Cameron mumbled.
"I'm thinking, when I'm older I want to get a ladybug tattoo." Ali said. Ella was terrified of all insects, including ladybugs. Ali laughed at the expression on Ella's face.
"Ella's scared of all bugs, if you didn't know." Sophie told Cameron. He giggled.
"I guess I have something new to make fun of you for." Cameron sassed.
"Oh ya! You want to see what happens when you do!" Ella sassed back.
"Aww, they're so cute." Sophie admired as Ella and Cameron fought.
Lunch and recess went by in a blur. Ella was nervous when she sat at the rocks to wait for Cameron. He walked out of the school and headed towards her. He waved so Ella decided to wave back. They started walking back to his house quietly. Ella knew that today would be life changing, but she didn't know if it would be in a good or bad way.
