Ana-Leah's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ana-Leah get down here right now!" My mother shouted from downstairs.
"I said I'm coming mom!" I shouted back, annoyance evident in my voice. I took one last glance at my soon-to-be old room then I grabbed the last of my boxes and headed downstairs.
This was the day, the day I would be moving to a new state. Let me let you in on the whole story. My mother is a successful buisness woman, and just got a job offer in New York. She says it was an offer she simply couldn't refuse. But I knew this wasn't the only reason it was so easy for her to pick up and leave. She met a guy named Joshua, and from what I've heard he doesn't sound like a bad guy, and all that matters is that he cares about my mom, so I'm really trying to be happy for her. It was so hard for us to move on after my fathers death so seeing her this happy with a new man is new for the both of us.
Although I love my school and friends in this town, I have to admit that it would be nice to go somewhere new. This town holds painful memories for me, and this is an excuse for me to finally escape this place. I'd already said goodbye to my best friends Lauren and Jasmine when they helped me finish packing the last of my things yesterday. I was definitely going to miss them, and my other friends from school. I wasn't that nerdy girl, but i wasn't all that popular either. I guess you could say i was just a girl who got along with everyone. I'm just thankful my mom waited until school finished for us to move.
"Im ready." I told my mom as soon as i reached the bottom of the staircase.
"Honey, just get your things and put it in the car, we need to get on the road. If we leave now we can still make it in time." She absentmindedly told me while glancing at her watch.
"Make it in time for what?" I asked her. I don't remember her telling me we had to do anything except settle into the new house today. While I was waiting for her to answer I observed her, she looked amazing. She was wearing white high-waist shorts, a black tank top, and black sandals. My mom had natural beauty, I was lucky to inherit my looks from her. I got my light green eyes from my dad though. I've been told I'm just as beautiful as her, however, I never acted as if I was better than anyone because of my looks. I was snapped out of my thoughts as she answered my question.
"Oh I almost forgot to tell you. After we get settled in at the new house, we'll be stopping by Joshua's for dinner." She said casually.
"Great." I said irritated.
This was one of the moments my mother gets on my nerves, no matter how hard I try to be happy for her and Joshua it annoys me that her plans lately have all revolved around him and quite frankly it was pissing me off. My thoughts quickly drifted to daddy. Does she even think about daddy anymore, has she forgotten already? The man she claimed to love so much has already slipped her mind, Im starting to think twice about this Joshua man now. However, I just walked forward.
I slipped my boxes in the trunk and made my way to the passenger seat. I took out my iPhone and head phones and scrolled down the music list until i found my favorite song. Just as i was about to go into my music zone my mother interrupted me.
"Okay so it's 2:37 now and we should be in New York by around 4:30 or so. That leaves us enough time to freshen up and get to Joshua's in time to have dinner. I'm excited that you can finally get to know him." I rolled my eyes at the mention of his name.
"Whatever you say mom." I muttered and looked out the window.
"Ana-Leah please just give this a chance, just please do this for me. He makes me happy-" She started to say before I cut her off.
"Are you going to start driving or what?" I asked her more rudely than intended.
She sighed shaking her head but proceeded to turn on the car and took off. I tapped on Forget You by Cee Lo Green and blasted it. I let the music calm my nerves and began to feel my eyelids drift.
"What a great way to spend the first day of summer" was the last thing I thought before sleep claimed me.
