tears filled her eyes
in the morning mist
she was left alone

patterning the table
circles of brown liquid
staining the window sill
hair trailing down her back
an oversized sweater
tucked over her knees
reaching to her stripy socks
staring out the window
where green was everywhere
vines and leaves
bushes and trees
filling up the garden
with every inch of land taken
she sits deep in thought
a mug of coffee in her hand
mascara stained her pale cheeks
a black and white contrast
a fresh flood of tears
made their way to the front of her eyes
her droopy eyelids
that were heavy with sleep
so much sleep
she hadn't slept
so many words
she didn't get to say
so many things
she didn't get to do
with him.
maybe the reason
he left no room in the garden
for anything else to grow
was because
he left no room in himself
to have any feelings.
