An explosion ripped through the rear end of the ship, sheets of metal twisted and buckled away from the searing flames. The entire ship lurched off course, her stability reaction systems attempted to regain control but only served to throw them into a spin. A critical hit to the engines. Shield systems activated and damage control teams were dispatched to attempt to curb the growing fires. Hundreds of lives floated in that burning tin can. Escape pods launched. Shuttles undocked. Sectors vented themselves as she sunk in the sky.
"Weapon systems online. "
"Engines are go."
"Shields at 100%."
"Ram charged."
"We are go."
Space twists and bends. Spitting a small tin can from it's empty nothingness. Flares of light leap to and from the small star ship as she trades fire with another.
"Subspace distortion detected!"
"Something inbound!"
Glowing lights and flaring dust trails. Pure energy and twisted space. A Flash of light.
"We have company!"
"Dreadnought class ship detected!"
Every once in a while it turns out that size does matter. Dwarfed by this new ship she fired her strafing thrusters. Slowly flipping the little ship away form her attacker.
"Firing main cannon."
Beams of light and gasses hotter than stars leapt between the ships. Her engine systems were unable to withstand the pressure and heat of many stars, thrust against her shields.
"SHIELDS ARE OFFLINE."
"HULL BREACH IN ENGINE SECTOR!"
"Game over."
"You loose cadet, 150 people were lost because of your failure, try again."
"It's not possible."
"Not with that attitude it isn't."
