FIGHT OR FLIGHT (my newest chapter...)***
-CASSIDY'S POV-
It all happened so fast. But i love him. We walk hand in hand back to his house but when we reach the driveway he releases my hand. Uh-oh
"Uh, Cass, I love you. I really do..." He starts
"But?" Damn.
"But, maybe we should wait until after rehab to tell my mom? And yours too" He says blsuhing
"Fine." I say pushing him out of the way with a huff and i push through the door. I can't believe this. I kiss him because I love him and now he wants to keep it a secret?
-JOSH'S POV-
I chase after Cassidy. That was a dick move. But my mom can't know... Not yet. Cassidy knows my house better than her own. She navigates to my room. And sits down on the edge of my bed, I come in and don't say anything. I sit down next to her, I don't touch her, I don't say anything. For a long time.
"Fight or flight, that's what you used to say Cassidy." I say
"You always wanted to choose flight." She whispers with a straight face. Her eyes are fixed on the red stains on the carpet.
"I realize that now, but that may not be the right option. Not for this"
"Josh..."
"No, wait."
"What?"
"I wrote something, it still needs lyrics but I want you to hear it."
"Fine" she sighs sitting down, I pick up my electric guitar. And strum. Before I know it I just say.
"I don't patronize. I realize, I'm losing and this is my real life" and I keep strumming but she gets up and walks to the door.
-CASSIDY'S POV-
I feel the tears welling up in my eyes, I won't cry, not infront of josh. Not again. I run downstairs.
"Mom" I cry, more panicked then I wanted.
"Honey what's wrong?" My mom asks standing up.
"I... Don't feel well, I need to go home"
"I'll drive-"
"No I'll just walk"
"With josh. You don't look well Cass, I'll have him walk or drive you" Corlynn says
"No really-" I start
"JOSH!" Mrs Ramsay calls as josh slips down the banister and lands with a hard thud on the ground in the foyer. He comes running in.
"Sup?" He asks panting.
"I want you to walk Cassidy home" she says, my heart races. He looks hurt that I made up the excuse to leave. But he shrugs and walks to the door.
"You coming?" He asks with his hand on the door.
"Yeah" I whisper hoarsely
-JOSH'S POV-
I walk out of the house not even waiting for her. By the time she's out of the house I'm already walking off the driveway.
"JOSH WAIT!" She cries running toward me.
"What?" I ask, annoyed. But I don't stop walking. I just look at the ground.
"What was that?" She sounds hurt
"I don't know Cassidy! You tell me? You fake being sick to get away from me? What the hell?" I'm surprised at the strength and anger that my words spit. She cowers a little bit. Stops to regroup.
"I'm sorry! I love you and I shouldn't have to hide it because... Well actually I don't even know. JOSH I DONT HAVE A DAMN REASON WHY THE HELL WE'RE NOT TELLING ANYBODY!"
"Me neither." I whisper and we walk the rest of the trip in silence.
