This chapter I must say that it was hard. You know why? Because I was all the time thinking how I am going to say goodbye to you, my friends.
For today, I have this thought running deep in my vein-
"If you kill that weak person touch within you, you may lose sympathy for weak people or you may be too sensitive to weak. Either ways it's all about your past and present." -Pink__blush.
"No Doctor! You have to save him. Contact someone who can donate blood. He... You... No please. Do something. Please..." I cried harder.
"Mrs. Passeiro. Don't worry. I'll try my level Best." he said pursing his lips.
As soon as I completed the paper work I searched for phone in my jeans pocket.
Oh no! I dropped it at the office.
"Excuse me! I want to make a call." I asked the receptionist.
She looked up at me with wide eyes. Her expression told me that I don't exactly look like normal.
"Sure Sure! Are you okay, M'am?" she asked with a worried look.
"Yes, thankyou." I said giving her a small smile.
I punched Robert's cell number as I don't know Mr. Harris's number.
"Robert, I..."
"M'am are you okay? Where are you? Did you find Sir? Why did you leave in this condition?" he asked and for the first time I felt his voice worried for me unlike his usual bodyguard tone.
"Robert, you need to come at Menlo hospital. I found Lucas he is being operated and I am fine. Come fast." I said.
"Yes, M'am we already on our way there. Don't worry... Wait M'am... Sir wants to talk to you?" he said as I heard the engine start and someone handling the phone.
"Daphne, are you okay?" that was Mr. Harris.
"Yes. I am fine. He... Lucas need... blood. I don't know where to go. W-what shall I do?" I asked taking a sob.
"I will be there within few minutes. You cannot afford to lose hope. I am not losing hope. When I have taken this step to rekindle my relation with my son I am sure God will be by my side."
"Yes..." I whispered as I hung up.
I looked up and I saw the receptionist staring me.
"Sorry M'am but I don't think that you are okay. Water?" she asked as she held up a bottle of water to me.
I took it and took a sip. That was when I realised that I was thirsty.
"Thanks."
"Anytime." she smiled sweetly.
On my way back to Lucas's operation theatre I saw four bodyguard marching behind a old man who was talking to a Doctor who was quite aged as well.
"Mr. Harris." I whispered as he saw me.
Immediately his face reminded me of Lucas and the tears flow unknowingly.
"Daphne..." he said with a worried look on his face.
I hugged him and cried with my head on his chest.
"Shh... Don't worry. Dr. Cole, my friend has promised me that he can look at the situation." he said pulling me away.
He looked at the doctor and smiled.
"He is the top surgeon in Australia. He was here for a while and we are lucky for that." Mr. Harris said.
Dr. Cole smiled at me and said, "Don't worry child, he is going to be fine. I just talked to Dr. Swan. He ia senior here and now he is handling the case. So don't worry." he patted my shoulder.
I don't know why and how but his words brought me strength which was missing.
"Daphne, look at yourself. What have you done to yourself? Now I won't let you stay here in this condition, you have to go to the palace. Robert is waiting for you. Dan will take you there." Mr. Harris said looking back at one of the suited bodyguard.
"No I won't leave till Lucas is awake." I said stubbornly.
"Look even I know the pain. This is happening when I am ready to apologize my son. When I was about to rekindle my relation with my son." he said.
"If he is your son then he is someone's life. Someone's everything." I said him looking away.
"Daphne, you... "
"No I will not go. I will go back home with my husband along with me or else I am not entering that place."
Hr shook his head and Dr. Cole put a hand on Mr. Harris's shoulder nodding as if saying that let her be here.
"Daphne, we will head for the operation theatre. Go freshen up till then." Dr. Cole said as he smiled.
I saw Dr. Cole entering a office with Mr. Harris.
As I was going to get a seat to sit, I saw my face on one of the notice board's glass.
I saw my pink-circled face and the dullness was like a dead girl. My face was tear-strained and my eyes were so swollen. That pair of Brown eye who glowed with her husband were blinded by tears and sadness.
I touched my face in astonishment as I looked so pale and almost like a wanderer.
My skin was sticky.
I know Mamma is so bad that she did mot eat anything to feed you. I am sorry-
I thought as I touched my stomach.
"Sweetheart, there's nothing to worry." that was Mr. Harris's voice and I heard the joy along with it.
I turned around to see his happy eyes.
My eyebrows were furrowed.
"Dr. Swan said that he will be fine within three hours. He has removed the bullet from his shoulder."
My heart said nothing.
Happy. Joy. Excitement.
My feelings were above that.
I hugged him.
"Please take me to him." I whispered as I cried.
"Doctor said that his shoulder is still in delicate condition and the toxic chemical was quite spreaded in his blood but since we have found a blood bank to donate him blood, he is good. We can't meet him right now." he said grinning at me.
"Can I see him from distance? Please?" I asked.
He chuckled.
"My son is a lucky guy. Come, I am sure that Dr. Swan will permit that." he said.
I wiped my tears and was on my way to the operation theatre when the Police came in view.
They were marching near us.
"Mrs. Passeiro?" one of the policeman asked.
"Y-yes?" I said.
"Please sit. We need to talk." he said motioning toward the waiting room.
He adjusted his belt on his bulgy stomach as he sat beside me and Mr. Harris.
"Mrs. Passeiro, your husband was shot. We were informed that you reported him to the hospital. Did you witness the situation?" he asked as he took the notepad from another policeman.
If you say yes, then remember that you will have to tell him about Seth.
But they will let him start a new life as he is mentally unstable.
Mr. Harris put a hand on my shoulder and whispered.
"Say him the truth."
I nodded.
"Yes. I know who shot him but we don't want to report against him." I said.
"Are you sure?" the policeman asked seeming uninterested.
"Yes. Now if you are done then I would like to go see my husband." I said.
"Sure. You are free." he said getting up.
"Daphne, you let the shooter go like that?" Mr. Harris asked as we were on our way to see Lucas.
"Because he did not do it intentionally." I said as I looked up the old man.
He pursed his lips.
"You can see him from this little glass window." he said pointing at one operation theatre.
I rushed to the window to see Lucas sleeping peacefully with tubes near his vein.
His right shoulder was wrapped in a white cast.
The nurse put injection in his right elbow vein.
I chuckled for what seemed to be after a long while. I remembered that what would have happened if he was awake. He would have never let the injection prick him. Yes, he is scared of syringes.
"Mrs. Passeiro, you want to see him closer?" a voice boomed behind me.
I was startled and turned around to see a young doctor grinning at me.
"Sorry I did not introduce myself. I am Dr. Swan." he offered his hand.
Oh so he is the guy who saved my husband!
Instead of taking his hand I hugged him.
"Thank you." I whispered as I didn't know what to say "Thank you"
He chuckled.
"That's my job."
