"Zyraan!" I cry out, my voice cracking. "I need You to stay... with me, I need you!"
But he doesn't hear me. He keeps walking away, his back growing smaller with every step.
"Zyraannn! Please!" I scream, praying he'll turn around, that he'll come running back. A river of unshed tears blurs my vision. My voice breaks into a whisper. "Please... don't go..."
But he does.
He's gone.
And the pain is so sharp it tears me out of sleep, dragging me back to the horrible certainty-it was only a dream.
"Don't panic. Don't think. Don't cry." The words repeat in my head like a mantra as I push myself upright, the sheets still warm beneath my palms. My cheeks are damp, my lashes heavy with tears. I sit there for a moment, chest tight, letting the ache settle. My eyes flicker around the room-half-hoping, half-dreading-to find him standing in the corner. But of course, there's nothing. Just shadows and silence.
