Every morning I wake up sweaty and shaking from the dreams I had about my father, then I throw up from the sickness the bastard who shot him gives me. I thought last night would be different though. For the most part I didn't dream of my dad, and it wasn't until I had woken up and went back to sleep that the nightmares had came back. Ive got use to them though.

I definitely wasn't ready to start school today, and honestly I just wanted to go back to sleep and never wake up. Nevertheless I got ready anyways. I wasn't one for makeup but I'm making an exception for today. I just put on a little mascara and lip gloss. My Dad always told me that mascara made my blue eyes shine like the ocean, of course I knew he was obligated to say that since he was my dad.

Before going down stares I looked over myself once more in the mirror. I wasn't wearing anything fancy; my outfit consisted of only a white v neck t shirt and black skinny jeans. It was simple and plane and that's exactly what I liked about it. The less attention I draw to myself today the better.

I grabbed my leather jacket and my sun glasses and walked down stares to meet my aunt who was sitting in the same chair as yesterday reading the daily newspaper. She looked so professional in her business outfit and her glasses bridged on her nose.

"Good morning Lucy." I said sitting across from her. I was trying to make this feel like home since I'll be here for at least the next six months. She looked up and smiled, "Amber there's really no reason to be so dressy on your first day," she teased.

"I'm not one for looking nice...ever" She laughed "I would have never guessed." I checked the time on my phone and realized that it was still only seven so I still had time to kill. I could tell Lucy was just about ready to take off for work.

"Hey, Lucy do you happen to know where a coffee shops is around here. I can't start off my day without coffee." She chuckled and said she would text me the directions. After she left I grabbed my backpack and got ready to leave. I still couldn't get over the fact that Lucy had bought me a new motorcycle. I knew that once I got a job I would repay her.

I started my bike up and heard the familiar roar of the engine and took off in the direction of the coffee shop. For some reason being on a motorcycle gave me a thrill. It made me feel alive again. I mean, I wasn't crazy on it but something about how the wind felt gave me a feeling of comfort.

Luckily the coffee shop was right next to the school because I hadn't realized how long it would take to order and finish it. Pulling into the school parking lot gave me Goosebumps. The scene in front of me was exactly how I had pictured it in my head. There were people sitting on rails of the entrance and football players throwing the ball in the grassy area besides the school.

It didn't take long for me to find the parking lot for the motorcycles. I quickly pulled in and getting my phone out to see how much time I had until first period. I have no idea what my classes are so I'll of course have to wonder around and find the office to get them.

One of the nicest looking Harleys I have ever seen pulled into the spot right next to mine, and a teenage looking boy got of it. He looked my way and starred at me for a couple seconds. He had dark brown shaggy looking a hair and eyes that looked as if he could tell a story with them.

"Finally someone else who rides a bike around here, and to my luck she's hot," he gave a smirk and leaned against his bike. I knew He was flirting but I tried to surpass the compliment. I went to walk away when he grabbed my arm lightly to get my attention.

He smiled at me and placed his hand out in front of him, "I'm Damian, I take it your new here because I surly would of hooked up with you by now if you weren't." He was the arrogant type, and he was already starting to annoy me. "I don't think so dude," I shot back shortly. He gave me a questioning look. He probably wasn't the type to get rejected often.

"I see you like to play hard to get. That's okay I like a little game every now and then." For some reason his comment got under my skin, and made me angrier then what it should have. I Pried his hand from around my arm and took a step back. "Dude back off, unless you want your dick cut off," He didn't look fazed and he continued starring down at me.

"Your gay?" his question took me by surprise and he quickly rephrased what he had just said. "Not to be a jerk or anything, I just seen the sticker on the side of your bike. I mean it's cool if you are. My brother's gay." Why was I still standing here? "No offense, but I don't think that's any of your business, but if you must know then yes, I'm gay."

I turned to walk away but again he stopped me by running in front and blocking the walkway. "I think we got off to a bad start, I'm Damian what's your name?" He extended his hand for the second time. I shook it lightly, "Amber." He smiled and moved to walk beside me.

"I can show you to the office if you'd like?" I liked him a lot better when he wasn't being so conceited. I just nodded and we started walking up the stairs to the entrance of the school. Once we got inside Damian had multiple people come up to him and greet him. I noticed that almost everyone was starring at us. I lowered my head and continued following him.

Damian walked off once we got to the office the bell had already rang three minutes ago but he showed no interest in getting to class. He promised he would find me at lunch and left me on my own. I pushed the door open and walked over to the lady sitting at the desk.

She didn't need to look up to notice me. "Hi, you must be the new student. Vanessa already has your schedule she will show around." I couldn't see her face because she kept focus on the papers in front of her but she must have been older because her hair was almost all grey.

Someone lightly tapped on my shoulder and I turned to face a back haired blue eyed girl. "Hi, I'm Vanessa." She stretched her hand out and I took it shacking it firmly. "I have your schedule already printed out so I'll show you to your first class. I nodded in response and she turned around walking out the door and into the locker filled hallway.

Vanessa walked a little ahead of me pointing to some of the things on the way like the cafeteria and showing me to my locker. Once we got to my first period class she handed me a piece of paper holding my classes and said her quick goodbyes.

I took a deep breath walking into the classroom. Everyone's eyes were on me, the teacher turned to me and sighed. "You must be Amber, here take this," he slid a piece of paper to me. "We just started a project On Friday so you're not too far behind." He scanned over his computer screen, I waited their awkwardly besides his desk.

"Mia please raise your hand. You'll be working with Amber from this point on." I looked around seeing the girl who I now know as Mia raising her hand with a bright smile. I walked over setting my things down and taking my seat next to her.

She adjusted her seat so she was facing me. She looked so familiar but couldn't pin point why. I took notice to how beautiful she looked. Her eyes had a twinkle to them and her smile was genuine and pure. She had olive skin that looked flawless.

She probably thought I was some freak with a starring problem because she cut my daydream short by waving her hand in front of my face. "You alright?" I snapped out of my trance and tried to redeem myself. "Yea, uh it was just a long night." She chuckled and began writing down something on a piece of paper.

"Were behind on the project, so you should text me so we can meet up." She handed over a ripped piece of paper. "Yea, definitely," the conversation was cut short by the bell signaling that first period was over.

I gathered my things and looked up noticing that Mia was nowhere in sight and I was just about the last person in the class. For some reason I felt as if my day took a turn for the better and I could actually get use to this school. I flashed a quick smile at my teacher and began walking to my second class.

I never understood how someone could hate reading. It was a ticket to another world; it gave you an experience of living someone else's life. Reading was the only thing that had the power to make me feel better. The feeling I get after reading an amazing book and finishing it was unexplainable.

I was interrupted from my book when someone shouted my name. I looked up to see Damian walking over with two bags of chips and a toothy grin. "Hey," he said flatly taking a seat next to me on the grass hill. He handed me a bag of chips and I gladly accepted since I was starving.

We sat in comfortable silence before I started to notice him get frustrated. He was staring at something, or should I say someone. I followed his glare over to a dirty blonde haired boy leaning next to a brunette. I stared at Damian wondering if he's the type who likes to talk about his problems.

"You alright?," I asked trying to be as comforting as possible, I didn't want to make him more upset. He glanced at me but then continued staring at the boy and girl standing across the field. "Yea I'm cool." He hesitated then pointed at the guy. "The guy with the girl, he's my best friend. His name's Carson."

I wasn't sure where he was going with this so I motioned him to continue. "He has a girlfriend, and that girl standing with him isn't her. I mean it's really none of my business but he treats her like dirt. It's not like I like her or anything but I think of her as a sister. It's been going on for awhile and I'm not exactly sure how to bring it up to her, or if I even should." He spoke slowly. I felt bad for him he's stuck in the middle of a complicated situation.

I tried to think about what I would do if I was in his shoes, but I think I would be acting the exact same. So I then went to what I would want if I was the girl whose boyfriend is cheating on her. I would want to know even if it would hurt like hell.

"You should talk to her about it. Your close with this girl and don't want to hurt her so tell her the truth. And as for your friend, you would probably be helping him too. Odds are if he's cheating then he's unhappy with his relationship." I hope he takes my advice in consideration.

Damian nodded and shortly after the bell rang signaling for us to go to fifth period. Luckily I had sixth off so this would be my last. Damian walked off into the other direction and I started my way to class praying it would go by fast.

I was so relived to finally be home. My aunt wasn't here so I figured she wouldn't be home till late. I sat down on the couch going over everything that had happened today in my head. It's nice knowing that I wasn't completely alone and that Damian was somewhat a friend to me.

My thoughts kept wondering back to Mia and how sweet her voice had sounded, that's when I remembered her giving me her number. I grabbed my phone from my backpack along with the tiny folded up piece of paper and thought about exactly what I should text.

I don't understand why this simple act made me so anxious, I really shouldn't be this nervous about a text. I wasn't sure on how I should start the message or if I even should message her. I mean she was right, we were behind on the project and the sooner we can meet up the better, but was it too soon? Should I give it another day?

After awhile of starring at the blank screen I gave up and put my phone away. I decided that I would wait and talk to her tomorrow and maybe she will bring up us meeting up. I got changed into shorts and a tank top and laid down. After awhile I dozed off and the regular dreams of my dad faded back.
