On a sunny day in the middle of July, an unknown object rocketed out of the sky and into the Atlantic Ocean, 10km from the nearest cruise liner. The object sank deep into the murky ocean, about halfway down, a hatch-like door opened and a humanoid creature with a few shark-like features all over its body. The humanoid was female, who seemed like she was looking for something after she had fully exited her craft which seemed to be some sort of spacecraft.
After about an hour or so of swimming, she came upon a vessel that she wasn't familiar with. After a moment of thought, she decided to take a closer look at it. Upon emerging from the water, she noticed how the vessel towered over her, as such, she started climbing the side of the hull of the vessel. After climbing for a short while, she heard a very loud bang, which startled her a bit. Having never heard a sound this loud before, she almost lost what little grip on the vessel she had. By the time she reached the top of the vessel, she saw a horde of specimens she had never even seen before. She wanted to call out to them, but she was hesitant due to the sound she had heard earlier and as such, didn't know if the specimens were friendly, or hostile.
After what felt like an eternity, the horde finally split up when suddenly, one of the shorter specimens spotted her and pointed her out to the rest of its friends. The horde slowly came closer to her, when one of them suddenly pulled her over the metal bars she was grasped to and she was forced onto her back, scared for her life, she quickly tried to escape back over the metal bars and into the ocean, but seeing as she was surrounded, she had little time to think and had to act quickly in order to survive.
Realizing escape wasn't an option, she tried the diplomatic approach, however, when she tried speak, all the strange creatures seemed to hear is a sound somewhere betta squeak and a roar. Seeing verbal communication was out of the question, she slowly reached into her satchel and pulled out a water proof notebook and pen and tried her best to mimic the writing on the side of the ship.
In handwriting that looks like a five year old learning to write for the first time, she asks "what are you?" She then offers the notebook to the crowd, hoping someone will take it and respond. A moment of silence passes before a thin, middle-aged man takes the notebook and writes back "we could ask you the same thing" before handing it back. The shark-human reads, or at least attempts to read, the response. Having little understanding of the language on this unfamiliar planet, it takes her a few minutes to understand the response, then replies "My name is Selacha, I am a Zondim from planet Aethel-Vara, my ship crash landed in your sea a fair distance from here. What planet am I on?"
She turned the notebook back to the crowd and waited for a response again.
