Adele
Two years with the boy and my abilities have grown immensely. We have given each other nicknames since we couldn't keep calling each other 'boy' or 'girl'. He calls me Red Lily because I told him that I always wanted to see one, even though I don't think they exist. I call him South because it just suited him. I had met his brother Mycroft on several occasions and he has said that I have the rare gift of deduction, to never give up on it and to keep practicing. He always showed things that neither me or South could see and never complicated us either, but It was fine with me. Mycroft never seemed like the complimenting type.
Me and South play deductions every week and he always tells me to dig my emotions far down my mind, it's a little harsh but i've never liked people anyway. Joanna and Phil don't mind me leaving once a week but they always say to come back before dinner or I don't get food, I could eat at the cafe but i'd rather avoid a lecture.
I was laying on my bed after coming home from seeing South, I heard Joanna's footsteps walk down the hallway towards my room and opened my door without knocking once again.
"Adele I have new..."
"Come on Joanna, just say it please. No guessing games are needed."
She looks at me angrily but calms down enough to talk without swearing.
"Adele, we are moving"
"WHAT!?! To where?"
"The other side of England, Phil's work is requiring him to move."
I'm standing now, looking angrily at Joanna.
"NO! I enjoy it here!"
She almost turns into a kettle as her face turns red with anger.
"You live with us Adele! I don't CARE what you enjoy! We only took you so that we could get the extra money! Now stop complaining and start packing!"
She storms out of my room as I collapse back onto my bed. I think about South and Mycroft. I could hear Phil telling Joanna that we'll be leaving next Wednesday but I won't see South again until next Friday. I start packing and try to think of a way to tell South what has happened. I don't want him to worry or think that i've abandoned him. I wouldn't want to feel that.
Wednesday comes and I find a chance to sneak away to the cafe. I have written a letter to South and I pass it to the waitress who has learnt our faces. She agrees and says goodbye.
I walk back to see Phil and Joanna waiting for me. I jump into the back seat of our car without a word and look out at the town, hoping to see South, but I didn't and won't. For a long time.
