Once Kaylin woke up, she heard laughter from the living room downstairs. She curiously stepped out of her room and saw her parents talking to a girl about the same age as she was. She looked closer, and recognised the familiar face. That girl was Kaylin's best friend when she was in primary school. Her name was Lenny, and she hadn't changed much, apart from the unusually long hair she kept and her glasses were gone.
Lenny had been playmates with Kaylin for almost 13 years, until Lenny joined a popular group and totally threw Kaylin away from her life, despite the 13 year long friendship.
As Kaylin slowly walked down the stairs in her house, Lenny heard footsteps and looked back. Kaylin saw her face as they stared at each other, awkward to see each other again after so long. Kaylin's parents obviously don't remember Lenny as she rarely came to Kaylin's house to play. Kaylin asked her parents to give her some time with Lenny, and asked harshly, "Why are you here? After breaking our 13 year friendship, you still dare to see me?" "It's not like that Kaylin, I just moved here not long ago, so my parents wanted me to make friends with the neighbours here. That's why I came." Kaylin was shocked at what she heard. "So that means, you want to be neighbours with my family?" "Yes." Lenny turned to walk away before Kaylin grabbed her arm. "So, you are going to walk away without mending our broken friendship?" "It's not like that Kaylin, I just felt...I felt that I had given up my only good friend to 5 others who were only using me. I could never see you straight in the face again. I'm sorry Kaylin, for causing all the pain you had to go through. I wish I could have been there when you were facing tough times. I...I...--" After her last explanation, she tugged her arm away from Kaylin and ran off in tears. Kaylin could only stare at her old friend's back as she turned away. Part of her wanted to make up with Lenny, while the other part was making her stay stuck to the grass in her own garden. Lenny 's unexpected visit had dealt a heavy blow on her, tearing her thoughts up to a million pieces. Realising that Lenny could be friends with her again, she just didn't know how to face her after all these years.
