** Not satisfied with this chapter, but I have many things to do and no time. Chapter's actually meant to be a bit confusing and distorted, but I fail at everything at the moment so I promise to make the next chapter better and less. . .tragic.

Pierre had been brutally tackled to the ground by his meiser, his face scrapping on the floor and cutting open his cheek, but that was not what had his eyes wide in shock. He shot at her; his mind raced and was soon shouting internally, he shot at her!

Pierre had thought that Kid would take Eevee’s side, try to speak some sense into her; for goodness sake, he wanted Kid to try anything but violence to bring her back to sanity! Yet he watched paralyzed as his weapons turn back into the smaller version pistols, Kid’s eyes glaring intensively at where Eevee had been seconds ago.

His chest heaved, pushing Louis off of him before moving to his knees and watched as the smoke cleared. Was she able to survive such a direct hit and come out without a serious injury? Pierre was very pessimistic about that idea, and the thought of her being dead was most prominent in his mind.

“Kid—” Louis had jumped forward, choked Pierre with an arm and placed his other hand over his mouth. In all the confusion, and the young shinigami momentarily distracted, Louis began to pull his weapon back towards the alley.

“Have you a mental affliction,” he hissed at Pierre, “There is no good result for our stay here. Not with your shrew of a little sister’s side and not the shinigami’s side. We need to put a great amount of distance between them and us!”

Pierre understood what Louis was saying, they were fair game to Shibusen and would no sooner get executed the moment they were caught, but he couldn’t leave. He’d used the Will o’ the Wisp to get that damn shinigami here to help her, and he’d used it with Eevee to save them time on tracking her down, but this was not what he had expected the outcome to be.

He was looking from the side of the building, Louis over his shoulder with an annoyed expression on his face. Kid stood up straight and walked ever so slowly towards the direction Eevee had been and where the smoke revealed nothing to be there. Maka maintain her distance, partially because her thoughts were that Kid would help Eevee, and partially because Soul was telling her to stay away from Eevee.

Kid arrived at a semi large crater, dust still flying around and not allowing him to see clearly as he jumped in. In the center, where he was heading to as the other meisters peeked from the edge, was a shadow hunched over, shoulders moving as if getting up or getting ready to attack. Kid stopped in his track, arms tense in case they attacked, but still not aiming at the figure.

A cough.

The sound of some coughing came from the moving form, and it was the sound of a young girl coughing in pain.

“E-Eevee?!”

And they were all wrong when they had said her name. It was her coughing out the dust she had inhaled, but the shadow belonged to Curran who had changed into human form and covered Eevee’s body with his own before Kid’s attack had hit. He was now leaning over his semi-conscious meister in tatters, his mismatching eyes glaring at Kid with pure hatred.

“You won’t lay a finger on my meister,” he hissed in a low voice, lifting Eevee up to her feet as he stood.  One arm was wrapped around her waist, the other wrapped around her shoulders, making it seem as he were hugging Eevee as she leaned on him.

“So, is that all you learned in the academy?” Kid lifted his pistols, Curran’s eyes growing darker. “Put it to good practice . . . let her go.”

“I am putting the academy’s teachings to good use.” Curran answered, now fully standing with a dazed Eevee on his side. Her eyes, Kid noticed, were blank. “A Meister’s duty is to feed us, the weapon, ninety nine evil souls and one witch's soul.”

His holds on Eevee tighten around her waist, letting her drop lowly were her neck fell back as Curran leaned closer. Kid took a step forward as Curran’s finger slipped into Eeve’s shirt, his eyes never moving away from the furious Shinigami.

“Kid,” Maka called out knowing Kid was listening though he didn’t turn to look at her. “Take her away from him and she’ll be fine! We think she will . . .”

At that moment, Curran’s lips stretched across his face and turned into a twisted smile; his finger pulling Eevee’s shirt lower and revealing a pink scar moving across Eevee’s chest. He lowered his head until his bangs touch Eevee’s skin, momentarily causing her to let out a sound of discomfort and forcing Pierre from his hiding place.

Louis ran after him, ready to take him into his hand as he changed into weapon form. A foolish idea of his weapon, Louis thought to himself, to sun in between Death the Kid and Curran in such a manner. That was it for them, dead by whatever means as they had no outlet to this anymore. His aunt, the damn woman, as he had picked that up from Curran, would not give a damn about what happened to them after Medusa took them in.

Three methods; choose your death, and Pierre had chosen for both of them. Not that it mattered to Louis, he would die a gentlemen . . . saving at least her life.

“Will o’ the wisp!” Balls of flame shot up from around Curran and Eevee, the heat stirring up the sleeping meister and making her eyes flutter. Curran had but a moment to turn his glaring eyes at Louis before blades collided.

“The little miss did say to separate you two,” Louis grinned, “and they seemed more concerned about her life. Yours . . . not so much.”

“You’re still an idiot, Louis.” Curran began to deteriorate, his arm, which he had used to block, turned into the head of a scythe as well as the rest of his body. “I still have my meister. A far better meister than you’ll ever be.”

Eevee was standing before Louis, both hands holding Curran in his double scythe form, and the same twisted grin as Curran on her face. Her brown eyes were glazed over as she looked into Louis’s violet eyes, for a second seeming to recognize who she was seeing, but it was nothing of the sort.

‘Louis,’ Pierre’s voice shouted at his meister, ‘Run for it!’

The blond meister managed to jump out of Eevee’s way as she slashed at him, landing feet away from Kid who only regarded him for a second before turning his eyes towards Eevee. Her scythe had been stopped once again by Maka, but her strange, quick movements had Eevee twisting her body to get out of the block; her body charging the person Curran wanted out of the picture the most, Kid.

“Your baby sister is trying to win against death.” Louis pointed out with a nervous grin, “Can’t we just let them dispatch each other?” Kid was glaring at him, to which he quickly added, “It was in jest! All we have to do is loosen his hold on her, correct?”

Kid’s glare was fierce, “Just stay out of my way. We’ll deal with you soon enough.”

He was the perfect match for Eevee, Kid was, and was able to stop her by force using only one of his pistols to hold one head of the scythe. With the other pistol he aimed at her stomach, shooting without a second to spare and forcing Eevee a few feet back where Louis had Pierre at her throat. Maka was not far off, and she had position Soul behind Eevee so she couldn’t escape from that angle.

Much to their surprise, Eevee had completely stopped caring for the injuries caused to her body and had no trouble pushing against their weapons, forcing herself out of the lock though causing scrapes on her upper body. Curran was of great help, momentarily changing part of his body human to stop an attack before Eevee swung him again.

Their method of attack, the two meisters would let Kid take the lead in attack Eevee head on. He was not only able to keep up with her speed, but he was to take one step forward and guess her moves before she made them. Kid was holding back and had Eevee cornered every chance he got, but Curran would always find a way to pull Eevee away with him and out of his reach.

Eevee was always a short-range type of meister like Maka and Louis, but kept a long distance from them and Kid. Instead of attacking swiftly and pulling back, Eevee made sure to be either too far for Kid’s shot to reach her or behind something. It was her style of fighting, which left to believe Curran was the one to be helping her move.

He wanted Eevee as far away from them, beyond their reach and out of sight to do what he had been about to do before he was interrupted by Kid. If they gave him any rest from their attacks, Eevee’s partial soul that was left in her would be swallowed by him. In theory, Kid thought, that part would lead him to the rest of the soul.

That wouldn’t happen, not while they were there to prevent it.

“Well,” Louis was standing to Kid’s right side as Maka stood to his left, “It seems it’s time for me to make my leave and—”

He cursed, Pierre momentarily changing to his human form to slap him before turning back. Maka was also glaring at the blonde, unsure as to why Eevee would even consider being around him if this is how he would help in the situation. Kid said nothing, keeping his eyes on Eevee who was leaning against the wall opposite of them, looking relaxed but very much lethal.

“We need to pry Curran off her hands by force,” he told the two meisters.

“The only way is to take her hands with the weapon,” Louis spoke before Maka had a chance, earning a glare. “Excuse me for bursting your little bubble of morality about human maiming, but one; she’s a witch and two, Curran will not see it coming. Think of it as ‘The Lady, or The Tiger’, pigtails—part of her will be gone with whatever you choose to do.”

“We’re not—”

“If you won’t do it,” Kid interrupted Maka, his mind already working an angle for that kind of attack, “He’ll do. Aim at the wrist, and, Maka . . . make sure to take hold of Eevee.”

She gasped, glaring at Kid, “You’re not really. . .”

“Progress—happens in the blink of an eye.”

With that Louis charged forward, using his Will o’ the Wisp attack to surround Eevee in a ring of fire, smoke rising thick and black not allowing her eyes to trace Kid’s form as he surged forward. Shots could be heard bouncing from metal, which meant the blind spot hadn’t worked, but that was not what they had aimed for from the start.

Maka jumped into the plans, taking what would be Louis part and making sure he knew she had. The crossed passed for a second, Louis fully understand what she was up to and putting no fight against it. He quickly drew back and changed to keeping Eevee caged against their attacks, appearing behind her and placing his rapier against her throat.

Kid was in front occupying her full attention that Louis had no trouble getting behind her, and Maka was fast in her action to attack Eevee before the brunette got a chance to move out of her way. But Maka altered the plans, changed them to where no blood would be shed, and had slipped Soul in between Eevee’s arms and pulled on Curran.

Pierre turned his upper body human, wrapping his arms around Eevee’s shoulders tightly and pulling her back as Louis pulled him. Maka pulled forward with Soul as Kid, with a bit of pain crossing his face, shoved Eevee backwards with a pistol before shooting at her hands.

Eevee let go of her weapon when her body was thrust back against Louis and he held her in place with his weapon at her throat. She moved, Louis moving with her as to not slice her open by her franticly growing movements. Every time she seemed to settle down, Eevee surged forward and backward, taking the rapier in her hands and staining her body in blood as she tried to pull it away from her throat.

Maka and Kid had instinctively looked towards the struggling Eevee, paying no attention to Curran until he blocked their view of Eevee. Half of his arms transform into a sharp edge, pulling Eevee up by the arm as he slashed through both Pierre and Louis. Eevee’s blood and their own could no longer be distinguishable and the other two meisters didn’t have time to as they both jumped forward.

Maka blocked Curran’s blade with her own, bringing him down hard on the floor and forcing him to let go of Eevee. She left Kid to do the rest, whatever it was that he had planned, and quickly took hold of Eevee and pulling her out of her weapons reach. Her hands were bleeding and her body was stained in the blood of her brother and Louis, also, her eyes showed that her mind was distorted and would need rest.

“Eevee,” Maka whispered as Soul returned to human form and knelt beside her, “What did he do to your soul?”

“Is it enough to stop the madness from spreading,” Soul asked, watching how Eevee would show no sign of being physically hurt. Maka didn’t answer him. “We need to get her to the infirmary, Maka.”

“But Curran. . .” she couldn’t utter a word as she lifted her head. The sight of Curran kneeling in front of Kid was strange. In the short amount of time they had been checking Eevee, Kid had managed to beat the raved weapon into submission, keeping on his knees with his pistols aimed at his head. “What is he doing?”

Curran had been trying to get to Eevee, all that was on his thought had been his meister, and he had given no care of what Kid did to him. Without her, he thought, he would never fight, and that had made it easier for Kid to force him down to his knees. But Curran refused to stay put, to let anyone else but him have possession of Eevee; she belong to him and he to her, and that was how it was going to stay.

And he wanted that soul even if it was only a small portion of it.

“Soul, what is he doing!”

A cough came from beside them, “His job, you idiot.”

Pierre had forced himself to move towards them, kneeling down beside Eevee as the other two watched Curran jump and moved in their direction. His eyes were on Eevee and nothing else, leaving his back to Kid who did not think twice in shooting him. It wasn’t until Curran hit the floor that Eevee reacted and shot up, only to have Pierre hold her to his chest and pushing her down to the ground.

“We’re on the execution list, and you knew that,” Pierre held Eevee down as the other two remained in shock. How he managed to move even though wounded was solely due to the fact that he did not want Eevee watching Curran’s fate. “He is death . . . and there are only two of us left . . . to execute . . .”

Kid was walking towards them now; Pierre only corrected himself as he watched him: “One and a half . . .” passing out on top of Eevee.
