1989....The soviet army recently pulled out of afghanstan, the union seems to be at its breaking point, most people could care less and would rather leave to west germany or even to the british or yankees but, Meanwhile in a highrise building, Alexei Tarasov, a 19 year old, who recently joined the red army as a Spetsnaz, unlike most soldiers he's never seen any real combat due to his father's connections as head of the KGB and due to his connections he was put in the Spetsnaz after about three weeks.
Alexei was on his bed reading a book. His father was in the room as well. He wanted to talk to him but Alexei was uninterested and wanted to be left alone, Andrey looked at him and said "Alexei you aren't a child anymore you need to stop with this and- can you at least look at me when I'm talking to you?"
Alexei drops the book and it falls on his chest "I don't understand why the hell I have to even be in the army, dad thats all i'm saying." Alexei sits up on his bed making eye contact
His father Andrey looks at him, fixing his glasses "You aren't even supposed to be here, you should be at the base in fact i should have had you join when they were in Afghanistan maybe that would teach you something"
Alexei sat up and replied "Look dad I just don't want to talk right now, alright? And I didn't ask for you to make me a Lieutenant okay?"
Andrey sighed. He wasn't disappointed nor mad, but he just couldn't help feeling he doesn't have that same connection with his son he did all those years ago "I just want you to be okay..this will benefit you my son. I don't want you to struggle once I'm gone, Alexei? Why don't we go somewhere just the two of us, nothing work related"
Alexei got off his bed and stretched his expressions soften " You know that isn't what i meant...But alright where are we going?"
His father looks at him with a softer, more calm expression "we're going to the red square"
Alexei looks confused "What? Why? We don't go all the way to Moscow unless it's for your work"
Andrey grabs his jacket and car keys "is it too much to ask for an old man to want to spend some time with his son?" Alexei sighs Andrey smiles "Come now, we can take some photos on the way there you still have that camera i got you no?"
Alexei opens his desk drawer and takes out a FED-3 "Of course you got it when I joined the army so are we moving or are we just gonna stand?"
Andrey laughs "Yes yes, Come on then ill hold the elevator" they exit their home unit a neighbor who was getting mail waves at Andrey since they used to know each other from parties he'd host in the building
"Ah! Tarasov it's been awhile since we've seen you or Alexei come by" the neighbor says while fixing their suit
Andrey laughs "Well maybe you should learn to find some better music, comrade!" They both laugh but Alexei stays quiet because he has this odd gut feeling that this will not go how it's planned but he can't just say something about it to his dad because when will they have the chance to spend time together , once they leave the building. they get in Andery's car a VAZ-2101 Alexei never understood why they had it but i guess Andery liked to feel normal and not like the head of the KGB but even Alexei knew there were more better cars out there
Andrey turns his head for a moment to look at Alexei "So Alexei once we get to Moscow we can stop by the Kremlin"
Alexei sits up and takes off his hat "Alright then i have enough film to take at least 20 pictures, nice thing is that the streets shouldn't be that packed" after a 2 hour drive the get to the red square and they park at a park just a few minutes from the red square, as Alexei walks with his father he has a sense of nostalgia he's actually spending time with his dad and it isn't work related but he wants to say something about the state of their country the place his father is trying to keep together "You know dad you put a lot of time for the people and the union, but i don't think the union will survive, the end of this country is just a matter of tim-"
Andery cuts him off and quickly adds "The union will hold it has too, Afghanistan was a logistical nightmare to keep up with, the people just need to have more faith like our family before us as well as the brave men and women of the union Tarasovs have always been here especially during the communist revolution and the fight against the Nazis"
Alexei stays quiet the people need faith yes but even he knows that the union will collapse "Dad here look" He quickly snaps a picture of Andery and he blinks having a stunted look on his face
Andrey rubs his eyes and cleans his glasses saying "oh great now i'll have an embarrassing photo don't share it around okay Alexei?"
Alexei laughs "yeah yeah don't worry no one will this photo of the head of the KGB"
Andrey's expression turns serious for a moment "I'm serious my son we have had too many spies from the American CIA and British MI6 just a week ago we had to imprison our security director for giving government documents"
Alexei gets annoyed "Can you ever just enjoy a moment without ruining it?"
Andrey sighs also starting to get annoyed "i just want you to learn my son people are monsters and this world will hurt you...i don't want that"
Alexei's expression softens "I know dad..."
Andrey replies "You say you know but thats all you ever say i need you to show me prove to be that you understand"
Alexei doesn't say anything he knew he was right he didn't understand as much as he wanted to say he did he couldn't It's been a few hours its now 7 pm the streets are crowded just people living their lives some just trying to get by....and without warning it appeared....out of no where it seemed to just spawn out of thin air people stopped what they were doing and looked at this GATE it didn't look like it was made by russians, hell it didn't even look like anything they've ever seen, Alexei and Andrey look at it and get a bad feeling and hear yelling that sounded like a "RAAA" or some sort of warcry as well as a voice in an unknown language seemingly giving a speech but no one can see anything due to the darkness inside the Gate, then they see men in armor and shields as well as swords and spears, bows made of wood their horses in leather and steel they get in a formation almost as a square preparing for a cavalry that never came something flies out it, doesn't look like any jet or helicopter they've ever seen "Dad! What the hell was that!?"
Before Andrey could look at Alexei they hear screaming, roaring, and horses, Alexei looks and sees people being killed by men on horseback with swords and spears, one of them falls off their horse in front of the duo. Andrey puts Alexei behind him and says to the man who fell off the horse and yells "Hey! Get away from us!"
The man is dressed in some sort of armor that looks like it should be in a history book. Suddenly the man gets up and charges at them with a dagger Alexei gets ready to defend himself trying to unholster his IZVEKH-412, a prototype revolver given to him as a gift from his father and POP! The man drops dead and Alexei sees Andrey holding a PSM pistol he shot that man dead "Alexei we have to go now!"
He yanks Alexei's hand and they start to run, Alexei can't believe what he's seeing, there's these dragon-like creatures flying "Holy- dad! What the fu- lady look out!" he yells at a woman giving her a warning to duck and because of his warning she ducked in time before she could get beheaded.
The woman looks at Alexei "T-Thanks you're amazing!"
Alexei quickly yells back "Get to somewhere safe, take as many people with you now!" Alexei runs with Andrey, the duo and other civilians run for their lives screaming and begging, Andrey fires his PSM 3 more times killing 2 more of these "soldiers", Alexei is able to get his own sidearm out of its holster, stops running and aims at a soldier but...he can't fire he pulled the hammer back as if it'd make a difference but he just held his breath and lowered the gun before that same soldier runs off the get in formation, Alexei stands frozen he couldn't shoot him he couldn't kill anyone it wasn't like shooting targets or an animal it was another human being but not even Alexei could kill an animal.
Andrey saw him freeze and pulled him aside "Alexei! We need to move now! And if they come at you, you shoot no matter what!"Alexei just nods still shaken and the duo run with the civilians they are all going to the kremlin where they have been slowly letting people in for safety, at this point the streets are empty and only have the dead and the unknown invaders Andrey pushes pass the dozens of people to get him and Alexei through the guards try to keep them in line but Andrey shows his I.D and Alexei is in uniform and they are let in to a less crowded space, Militsiya special forces have arrived to try and drive away the invaders unfortunately their AK's weren't enough to control the horde of enemies an hour later the streets are empty all thats there is the dead and these unknown invaders meanwhile Militsiya make a desperate last stand before the army will arrive which would take hours their shotguns helped suppress the soldiers some of the invaders would start to yell something in an unknown language whenever they see an officer with a shotgun think of them yelling "Boomstick look out!" or even "Look out, it'll take your head!" once soviet forces arrived they weren't going to let their people, their homes, their country fall to these bastards, Mi-26 helicopters were sent to help the militsiya in providing ammunition as well as soviet soldiers and weapons such as the RPK and RPD no matter how many men and monsters came through that gate they were torn to shreds, those who took cover surrendered out of fear of a horrible death they feared that there would be nothing left of them not even their face and with the orders given to the soviets they took 126 of their men prisoner and killed over a thousand more and after no more people came through the gate they started counting how many civilians died and as they secured the area they found 78 dead 12 of them children.....
