You were watching the way Hinata intensely focused on the ball before him, spiking and jumping and whacking with determination. You study the fierceness in his eyes and the beads of sweat that dripped past his brow, sliding down the curve of his neck before disappearing under the hem of his shirt. It was then when you yanked your gaze upwards and saw him staring. He shot you a confused and slightly worried look but then brightened and waved your way. Hinata tries not to overthink it, but he can't help but remember how fixated you were on him. He invites you to more of his practices and asks you to toss for him, hoping you'll stare just as intensely each time.
Kageyama Tobio:
Kageyama is busy tying his shoes in the school hallway. It was such a simple action, but you let your gaze wander. From the focused pout on his pink lips to the deft, slender fingers that knotted his laces quickly. "Y/N?" you hear him call out your name, and you realize you've been caught red-handed. Kageyama could feel your eyes on him and wanted to call you out to see your flustered reaction. He takes a mental snapshot of your face, hoping he can see it more often.
Tsukishima Kei:
Tsukki was seated across from you in the library, his long, nimble fingers turning the pages of his textbook. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration, and he slightly bobbed his head to the music playing in his headphones. His lips would press into a barely visible thin smile if he answered a practice question right. Without looking up, he'd say "take a picture, it'll last longer." He could feel your gaze on him the entire time and only looked up to see you squirm and blush.
Yamaguchi Tadashi:
You were watching Yamaguchi read a book. But as he turned the pages, his expressions changing as he sped past character dialogue, you became entranced. Your eyes fixated on the freckles splattered across his cheeks. And the tufts of hair that stuck up in random spots. His beautiful amber eyes that were now locked on yours, his lips parted in wonder. "Is there something on my face?" he joked. His skin heated at the feeling of your eyes on him. He secretly hoped you only stare at him this way without giving away your precious attention to others.
Nishinoya Yuu:
You're watching Noya during one of his practices, and he can feel your gaze on him instantly. In fact, he invited you to afterschool practice so that you could watch him. But as he clocks his head in your direction, he's mesmerized by how dazed you look. His eyes grow dark, trying to hide his true feelings as he gives you a cheery smile and a wave. But he spends the rest of practice receiving with all his energy, showing off just for you.
Tanaka Ryuunosuke:
You and Tanaka were simply walking down the road to grab an afterschool snack. It was a cold, winter day, and Tanaka sported a warm, winter coat and a beanie. Your eyes traced over the lines of his face, watching intently as he exhaled a huff of cold air. He turns to you to ask you something but freezes when he catches you looking at him with so much focus. His cheeks are hot enough to melt any snow within a 5 mile radius.
Sugawara Koshi:
The two of you were enjoying ice cream, treating yourselves after an exam period. As you settled down in a booth, your eyes flitted to the gray-haired boy, watching his eyes light up as he took a bite. "This is amazing–" he started before getting flustered over the way you were fixated on him. His eyes couldn't help but dart down to your pink lips, slightly swollen from the cold ice cream. "You shouldn't start what you can't finish," he whispered under his breath.
Asahi Azumane:
Asahi was fed up of his hair falling in his eyes. He yanked a hair tie off his wrist and began scooping strands into a man bun. And that's when he felt your intense gaze on him, staring at the lines of his exposed, neck. He lowered his head until he was eye level with you, and instantly, you snapped out of your daydream. Still tying his hair, Asahi wore a shy smirk. "Guess I should put my hair up more often." He enjoyed watching you go beet red.
Sawamura Daichi:
Daichi was simply standing on the court, giving orders to his team while you sat in the bleachers, watching his afterschool practice. Your eyes traced the beads of sweat that rolled down the side of his cheek, snaking down his tanned neck before disappearing under the soft cotton of his shirt. Immediately, you chided yourself for thinking that way, yanking your gaze up to meet Daichi's. He clocked you instantly, sending you an exasperated sigh followed by a subtle smirk. Meet me after practice he mouthed clearly to you.
AOBA JOHSAI:
Oikawa Tooru:
Oikawa was used to being stared at, but he internally squirmed at the feeling of your eyes on him. He wasn't sure if you were peering in his general direction while spacing out or if you were genuinely looking at him. He quickly snuck a glance at you, heart pounding as he saw your eyes wide and lips parted in awe. "Good looks like this aren't free, you know? That'll be $50." But after you flash him a sweet smile, he self-combusts.
Iwaizumi Hajime:
Iwaizumi is not used to girls checking him out. If anything, they're lining up to ask him more about Oikawa and his ideal type. "He's over there," Iwaizumi mutters when he feels you staring at him. But when you don't move, he looks up, slightly dumfounded at the way you're intently looking at his biceps through his shirt. He awkwardly clears his throat, wondering if he should ask for your number.
Matsukawa Issei:
The second you focus on Mattsun, his attention is on you. "Need something?" he'll ask without looking up. He doesn't need to see your gaze in order to feel it. Reads you and your emotions better than you can, probably. The time he caught you looking at him after a match, he instantly knew what was on your mind and tried to tease you a little by standing close to you.
Hanamaki Takahiro:
Hanamaki is a little oblivious. He misses the way your eyes are burning holes into him. You're watching him furrow his pale brows as he attempts to solve a difficult math problem, and when he looks up at you for help, he catches you. Has to tap his mechanical pencil lightly on your wrist to bring you back to Earth.
Kindaichi Kosuke:
You're walking the same direction to get home, and you can't help but notice how tall Kindaichi is. His presence next to you sends a shiver up your spine and heats your cheeks. You're sneaking subtle glances at him, but he suddenly peers down at you, curious why you keep looking at him sneakily. "Have something on my face?" he'll ask absentmindedly.
Kunimi Akira:
Kunimi is quiet but observant. Has clocked that you're staring at him before you know it yourself. You were studying together in the library, and suddenly, you were mesmerized by the way he twirled his pen between his fingers. You end up looking at his face, drinking in his soft features when he snaps his gaze up to you. Forces himself to keep a straight face but wants to tease you badly.
NEKOMA:
Kuroo Tetsuro:
You were stopping by a bookstore after school to help Kuroo find something he wanted to read. As he scanned the shelves, your eyes drifted to his veiny hands and up his tanned forearms. You know he's secretly proud of his hand and arm muscles, which is why he keeps his sleeves attractively rolled up. Kuroo, however, never thought you'd be one to be mesmerized by veins or muscles. After subtly picking up on your interest, he goes out of his way to compare hand sizes and flex his forearm muscles.
Kozume Kenma:
Kenma invited you to an PC cafe to game together on the weekend. Knowing Kenma was nearly a pro-gamer, you snuck glances at his lithe fingers that moved furiously over the keyboard. For someone who gave off a lazy vibe, you were impressed by how fast he could react while gaming. "What? Why are you staring at me like that?" he'd whisper to you while trying to focus on the game. He spotted you secretly out of his peripheral vision.
Yaku Morisuke:
You'd never noticed how handsome Yaku was until you were seated in front of him at lunch one day in the school cafeteria. His caramel-brown hair looked so fluffy and soft. You wondered if he'd let you touch it one day. Your eyes slid down to his pink lips and the soft curves of his cheeks. "Y/N?" he called out your name, slightly embarrassed at the way you were looking at him so intensely. Secretly, wishes you would stare longer.
Lev Haiba:
With his perfect proportions, you can't help but zone out and stare at Lev's features every once in a while. One of his random features people don't usually credit is his eyebrows. You're obsessed with them, and one day, Lev catches you staring. He furrows them for you, which darkens his gaze, and you melt a little inside. "Do you think I should get them done?" he'll ask teasingly.
FUKURODANI:
Bokuto Koutaro:
Bokuto invited you to a practice match after school, and you're sitting in the bleachers watching him and his team closely. As he jumps to spike the ball over the net, you're captivated. His muscles are flexed, his vision entirely focused on the blockers ahead of him. He looks determined and sweaty and handsome. And that's when you nearly choke on your spit because suddenly, he's staring back at you. He shoots you a playful wink, a little oblivious to how much he's affecting you.
Akaashi Keiji:
You both are at a coffee shop. You're working while Akaashi reads his new book. But as your trying to focus on your notes, you can't help but glance up at Akaashi's dark lashes and pale-pink lips. His fingers are thin and long and- "Y/N?" he yanks you out of your trance. He had been following your gaze for a few seconds and was secretly so flustered by how captivated you were. He'll try to be nonchalant by tucking a strand of hair behind your ears.
INARIZAKI:
Miya Atsumu:
Talks big game but gets so flustered when he catches you staring at him while he's telling you some random weird fact. "Are you even listening?" he'll tease while trying to internally compose himself. You'll repeat it back to him, trying to pull yourself out of your own daze. He'll force himself to look calm and composed but he can't control the red flush creeping up his neck.
Miya Osamu:
He was making onigiri for you and him for a picnic. You watched as he used subtle techniques to roll the rice balls and attach seaweed strips to the outside. His strong hands delicately pressed the filling into each onigiri, and next thing you knew, Osamu was standing right in front of you with a piece of filling in his hand. He noticed you staring at him but thought you were more interested in the food. "Say ahh," he instructed and placed the filling in your mouth.
Kita Shinsuke:
Sooooo observant. But also makes such intense eye contact. The millisecond he catches you, he's meeting your gaze, not breaking away. He'll study your expression and watch you blush and only then catch on to the fact you were staring at him. Blushing at him. He'll reach out a hand to gently pat your head and boop your nose.
Suna Rintaro:
Was scrolling on his phone, and he thinks he can feel your eyes on him but isn't sure. Gets on his phone camera and angles it towards you and sees you staring right at home, captivated and lips slightly parted. He starts recording, watching how mesmerizing you are through his phone screen. He'll rewatch every now and then whenever he needs a pick-me-up. Will also use the video as blackmail if you ever get into petty arguments. "Remember how much you love me?" he'll tease.
SHIRATORIZAWA:
Tendo Satori:
Tendo was simply talking about a movie he'd seen recently. As he described the plot and his favorite characters, you got lost in the expressions he made. He was able to convey so clearly how he felt, and you loved watching him. "But to be honest, the sequel wasn't as good as the first--what are you looking at?" he'd call you out. If you lie that you were zoning out, he'll just play along even though he can sense you're not telling the truth.
Ushijima Wakatoshi:
You were watching Ushijima practice in the school gym, perfecting his form as he spiked ball after ball over the net. He asked you to toss for him, and you did your best, but you were slowly getting entranced by the winged spiker. You're in awe of his muscles, watching them tense and flex. Even the way he wipes the sweat from his brow impresses you. "Y/N?" Ushijima asks when you stare a little too long and hard, realizing you've forgotten to toss to him. Right away, you send the ball his way. Ushijima pretends not to catch on, but when he turns away from you to spike, he's smiling to himself.

A/N: I feel like this is such as nerve-wracking situation because what are you supposed to do when you get caught? How do you just carry on??? Anyways... hope you enjoyed!
Question of the imagine: If you caught one of the Haikyuu characters staring at you, how would you react? Instantly, I thought of Kita. In the headcanon, I could almost feel his piercing gaze, so I wonder what it would be like to feel the intense stare of someone. I would probably still get flustered regardless. But I'd also definitely rely on humor to move past the awkwardness. "Take a picture, it'll last longer!" "Do I have something on my face?" Those classic cheesy lines.
