Nearly 2 years ago to the day the D-reaper was defeated, saving the world from total destruction, in the process making Takato, Rika, and Henry becoming incredibly famous and no longer having much free time to do anything not even being able to leave home without paparazzi but that was a while ago nowadays they live basically normal lives.
Henry is still on rough terms with his father after he sent the digimon back to the digital world, but they're doing better than they were right after the incident.
No digimon have been able to bioemerge since the D-reapers defeat and the state of the digital world is unknown as no one has been able to find a way back in any capacity.
Today Takato, Rika, and Henry are all hanging out for the first time in months walking through the park where Takato use to hide Guilmon, when as they make it to a busy street down the road they notice a familiar haze that suddenly explodes open with enough force to topple cars revealing a portal.
