Quackity’s theory turns out to be that Sapnap and Karl are the culprits. Wilbur personally finds that insane, he knows those two; they work to get the agency’s information back from the mafia. There’s no way either of them would betray everyone...
Quackity always has crazy theories though so Wilbur doesn't even know why he’s surprised.
“See... you probably shouldn't be saying that,” he tells Quackity. “Who knows if the commander could be listening. She might kill them over a suspicion."
“If the commander was listening to us she would have killed us already,” Quackity replies.
Wilbur hesitates a bit too long.
“Yeah, probably...” he murmurs. He doesn’t tell the other man what he knows about the hidden mics, the commander told him not to; he’s going to obey.
“But doesn’t it make sense?” Quackity goes back to talking about the two spies he suspects.
“A bit,” Wilbur admits. “But in that case it could be any of the spies.”
“Good point,” the other assassin thinks for a bit. “Hmm... I’m sure the commander will find the people responsible. She seems to be alright at that... most of the time." he scowls slightly. Wilbur assumes it’s because the commander is blaming him for things.
“Hey, uh...” Wilbur hesitates. He doesn’t say what he was going to tell him though. “Nevermind, I forgot.”
Are you a part of the mafia Quackity? Please tell me you’re not and let it be true. He thinks.
“Would you like to do anything affectionate?” he finally asks instead.
"Could I sit in your lap?" Quackity asks with a slight grin.
"Um... well," Wilbur's eyes flit down to his crotch. "You see... uh..."
The shorter male understands the situation in an instant.
"Nevermind, don't worry about it," he replies.
“I’m sorryyy,” Wilbur groans. “I just can’t control it, don’t want anything to uh... happen.”
“I must look good then,” Quackity says teasingly.
“Stop that,” Wilbur stammers hurriedly when the other man gives him a seductive smile.
The other assassin sighs softly and moves closer to Wilbur so that he can lean against him. “I don’t mind if I feel anything you knowww.”
“I know, but last time you sat in my lap...” Wilbur hesitates and heat rushes to his cheeks. “Stuff happened.”
“You got excited yeah,” Quackity shrugs. “But that’s normal, it happens.”
“I don’t think I’m ever going to live that moment down,” Wilbur slumps back against the pillows.
“It’s a bodily function dear,” Quackity says softly, making sure that his partner doesn’t genuinely feel shame or anything similar.
“Yeah, you’re right, and I woulda enjoyed it if not for the fact that we aren’t supposed to be at that level,” Wilbur sighs.
“Eh, I didn’t mind it,” Quackity shrugs. “It was fun.”
“Really?” Wilbur asks.
“Yeah,” the other assassin confirms.
Wilbur can feel his worried gaze and guilt rises up inside him. He isn’t the same anymore, not very confident like he used to be. He’s tired and it shows, it shows bad. Quackity can definitely tell that he hasn’t been the same since the commander ordered him to kill.
“Hey, you can sit on my lap,” he says.
Quackity smiles softly and climbs onto him. Wilbur gently holds him close, trying to fight off thinking about what happened last time.
Please, don’t you dare do that again.
No no no don’t you dare.
Oh he’s so attractive...
“Wilbur,” Quackity whispers, leaning in to him even more. “What are you thinking about?”
“How you’re really attractive,” the taller male replies, his cheeks flush again with embarrassment as Quackity laughs softly.
Wilbur slowly slips his hands up the other man’s tanktop, running them up his sides gently.
Quackity shivers a bit at the touch and his cheeks start to flush as Wilbur holds his waist.
“Alright I see what you’re doing,” he says finally.
“Testing your reactions?” Wilbur asks, looking up at him. “Your skin is a bit cold...” he observes.
“Your hands are warm, it’s nice,” Quackity murmurs.
Wilbur keeps holding him since he definitely likes it. He forgets about trying to not have the lap situation happen again and finally is able to relax a bit.
His thoughts are still racing, but they are more in the background now. He’s mostly thinking about the attacks on other assassins and Quackity’s connection to the mafia.
“Wilbur?” the other man finally asks.
“Yeah?”
“What do you want to do when we get out of here?” Quackity mumbles.
“Mmm... don’t really know, just be with you I guess,” Wilbur replies. “What do you want to do?”
“Well, my first idea was to try to transfer our agency funds into new bank accounts before the commander can get to taking them away.” Quackity starts. “But if that doesn’t work it’s ok, we can be on the streets for a bit; I’ve done that before so I’m pretty good at finding food and shelter.”
“Oh... oh wow, you have plans?” Wilbur asks. He hadn’t thought about it that much yet.
“Yeah...” Quackity ruffles his feathers in embarrassment. “Um... then once we find jobs and save, we can get an apartment together.”
“That sounds amazing,” Wilbur smiles. The smile then drops right off his face. “But I never did high school.”
“Uh... well...” Quackity thinks for a bit. “I dropped out so it’s fine, don’t worry about it.”
“But how are we gonna get good jobs?” Wilbur asks. “How are we gonna afford anything?”
“Ummm... cheap shitty apartment I guess?” Quackity shrugs. “We will figure it out, right?” suddenly he looks unsure.
“Yeah, I’m confident in your skills,” the taller assassin tells him. He is actually quite confident in his partner and is relying on him for this whole thing because he knows nothing about being on his own in the world.
“Yay,” Quackity shifts in his lap to lean into him and Wilbur feels heat rush to his face... and somewhere else.
“Quackityyy, we’re getting to the uh... the limit,” he admits.
Quackity leans away to look at him in worry. “The limit?” then he seems to realize. “Oh, hang on.”
He slides off of Wilbur’s lap.
Wilbur breathes a sigh of relief. “Made it out alive,” he jokes.
“You idiot,” Quackity smiles affectionately. “I could have gotten off earlier.”
“I was doing good until you shifted,” Wilbur replies.
Quackity laughs softly and is about to probably tease him when suddenly the intercom in the hall comes on.
“This is your commander, I have to make an important announcement about things going on in our agency.”
Wilbur sees his partner immediately get a look of distaste as he hears her voice.
They can hear the voice in the room faintly so neither makes a move to open the door.
“During these past few weeks many missions that include assassinating mafia members have been intercepted. The mafia seems to know whenever our assassins are coming. Many are injured currently. Due to this becoming alarming, we have pulled back from missions for the time being; this will last for a few weeks. There is most likely a traitor or multiple traitors here at the agency. If you see anything suspicious, come to me immediately, I will meet with you about it. As of now we have had no casualties. I only ask that everyone is on the lookout. We will do our best as the leaders of this agency to find out information and make plans, but you all are the eyes and ears of this place. The future of the agency is in your hands.”
The commander finishes talking and the intercom turns off.
Wilbur slowly looks over at Quackity, feeling nervous about all of this. Everything was fine at the agency before he showed up... everything was good in fact.
Maybe they should just stop fighting the mafia, it’s a battle that they can’t win... especially with Quackity’s agency being on the mafia’s side.
“Um... well, a few more weeks together, then we are out of here,” Quackity murmurs. “I honestly didn’t expect to have to wait this long, perhaps we should have left on the last mission.”
He shivers as he recalls the attack made on him. “I wish they didn’t attack me, maybe none of this would have happened to the other assassins.”
“But you were just the first that they attacked,” Wilbur tells him. “It would have happened to the agency anyways...”
Unless you’re a traitor. He finishes in his head.
He’s getting paranoid again, especially with all the talk about betraying the agency.
Quackity isn’t going to do anything bad though... he hopes.
There’s so many things the other assassin could do when they try to escape the agency together: one of them could be taking Wilbur right to the mafia to get information about the agency out of him.
“Quackity...” he murmurs. “I’m nervous.”
“Me too,” his partner whispers back. “Do you want to hold me?”
“Yes please,” Wilbur replies.
Quackity eases himself down on the bed beside him. Wilbur flushes a bit as he realizes that he wants to be held from behind
He gently gets an arm around his partner, pulling him close.
The two stay there for a long while before Quackity starts to get restless because it’s still mid-day.
“Would you like to go back to the weight room?” Wilbur finally asks.
“Sure,” Quackity murmurs. “I want to stare out the window at the city.”
“And then can we get food?” Wilbur continues.
“Mhm,” Quackity agrees.
“And watch the sunset?” Wilbur asks.
“Of course,” Quackity smiles.
Quackity POV
Wilbur happily eats his dinner by Quackity’s side. It’s not much, it kinda looks like the mac and cheese that they would serve sometimes for school lunch back in the day. Wilbur seems to like it though so Quackity doesn’t tell him it’s probably super cheap food which is really annoying because this is a rich, powerful agency.
“You like it?” Quackity asks. He hasn’t eaten much on his own plate, only the fruits.
“Yeah,” Wilbur replies, then sees that the other man isn't eating.
“Do you want my fruit?” he offers.
“Yes please,” Quackity accepts, he’s really hungry.
Wilbur hands over the fruit and the shorter assassin eats it all really fast. Then he goes back to picking at the mac and cheese, trying to convince himself to eat it
“Uh... should we go back and get you more fruit?” Wilbur asks.
“It’s alright, you wanted to watch the sunset,” Quackity stares out the window. The sun is slowly sinking lower and lower, it’s about to be really pretty outside.
“But...” Wilbur looks hesitant.
“We’d miss part of the sunset if we went now. I’m fine, don’t worry about me,” Quackity nudges him gently.
“I guess,” Wilbur goes back to eating. He finishes his portion of the mac and cheese and sets his plate down.
“You could have mine if you want,” Quackity says. “I don't want it to go to waste.”
“Ok,” Wilbur takes his plate. “Thank you.”
He’s done with that portion in about 5 minutes.
Quackity leans into him even more as the sun starts to fully set.
“It's pretty...” Wilbur murmurs.
The sunset's colors are reflecting in the other man's eyes as Quackity looks up at him. He wonders how long it's been since Wilbur last had the chance to enjoy seeing a sunset.
The other man offers a hand to him and Quackity takes it.
Wilbur smiles softly and squeezes his hand gently in response.
“Let’s have a good last two weeks,” Quackity murmurs.
“Yeah...” Wilbur replies. “It’s going to be ok, right?”
“It’ll be ok,” the other assassin promises.
Wilbur nods slowly. He looks a little uncertain, but that’s alright. It’s not easy to believe that they are going to make it out, Quackity also knows that this is going to be much harder for Wilbur with the added tension from the commander... and this place being a home to him.
But they are going to make it, Quackity will lead him through the process and both of them are going to be free... unless they get caught and terminated of course.
