I woke up hearing the voice of Bea waking me up.
"Ria, Ria? Wake up, it's time for dinner. Jake's mom prepared our dinner." Bea says as she shook me up.
"Uh. Yeah." I sat and rubbed my eyes.
"Let's go." She says after we finished fixing ourselves.
We went downstairs and into the dining table. Everyone was there, including Mitch and her group. Chris noticed us first.
"Bea! Ria! You're here, come sit down." Chris offered. An empty seat was beside him. I was about to go to his direction when someone had called my name. I turned my head to where the voice came from and saw Ryle his hand motioned to the empty seat beside him separating him and Mitch. I honestly didn't want to sit their in between the two of them. I'm sure Mitch would be devastated but I wondered why Mitch hadn't sat at that empty seat beside Ryke. I was about to continue walking to the chair beside Chris when Ryle called me again.
"Ria! Here! Sit beside me." Ryle offers with a smile. This time I had no choice but to do so. He clearly said to sit beside him. I nodded and headed the other way to the chair beside him. Once we were all settled. We began to eat. The food was really delicious and Jake's mom was really kind. She accommodated us really well and told us to be comfortable in their vacation house. I was about to get a piece of fried chicken when Mitch suddenly took it and grinned. I thought no one had seen it but I was wrong.
"Here, you can have mine." Ryle says as he puts the piece of chicken into my plate.
"Ry--. Op, Op, Ops. No buts or Ryle's". He cuts me off with a smile. I felt Mitch send me dagger stares. It was uncomfortable but I had no choice but to endure it.
We had finished eating dinner and everyone was excited for the bonfire. I was curious about this bonfire thing because I haven't experienced it yet unlike Julie and Bea. They already experienced it because they were friends with Ryle while Mitch was also included during the bonfire events because of Lou's cousin Lexi. I was the only one who was new to this.
We went out and the boys prepared the bonfire. I sat beside Julie and Bea. I asked on what were we going to do.
"Well, we play the truth or dare game and no one's exempted. Each one of us should get a turn." Julie explains.
"Then.. We tell stories, usually experiences." Bea adds. I nod taking in all the information.
"So.. Ria! You should be wise on what you choose!" Bea says as she raised her finger. I smiled and nodded.
We talked and laughed about Bea and Julie's experiences during the bonfire when I wasn't still with them. They told me the embarrassing dares that they had to do because they wouldn't pick truth. They had advised me to pick truth instead of dare because they were sure that Mitch would pick the worst dare for me since she well.. she doesn't like. Then they told me about Mitch and her embarrassing dares, Dares that Bea and Julie made her do. We laughed so hard because of it.
"What's funny? Share some of your" jokes with me. Ryle says as he sat beside me.
"You're too selfish, you only want all the fun to yourselves." Ryle jokes.
"Nope! We're not going to tell you!" Bea says jokingly. Before Ryle could say anything, our attention were all called by Chris and Lou who stood infront of the big burning bonfire. Everyone was seated and the truth or dare began.
First one up was Lou who had picked dare. The boys dared him to dance a chicken dance. At first, he was hesitant but was forced to do it. Next was Bea, she had picked truth and the girls asked her on who she liked among the boys that we were with. She blushed madly.
"Uh.. It's.. Um.. Jake." She finally says while looking down. I looked at Jake to see how he would react and saw a small smile form from his lips. Chris and Lou kept teasing Jake while Ryle who was beside me, just laughed at them. Then it came to a point where Ryle was the one supposed to pick. Ryle had picked truth.
"I don't want to do anything stupid." Ryle whispered to me, I nodded in response.
"So.. Ryle, what really happened between you and her?" Mitch asks. When she did everyone's eyes focused on her. Bea and Julie looked at each other while the boys looked shocked then looked at Ryle.
"Mitch." Lou says.
"What? I didn't know that there was a rule about this game." Mitch says confidently. I looked at Ryle to see how he reacted but he just kept still. No smile, no frown.
"But.." Jake tried to say something but was cut off by a voice.
"Jake, it's alright." Ryle says.
"It's well.. She told me that she had to leave. She said that there was no chance for us and..." Ryle was silent for a moment.
"She.. didn't feel the same way I felt about her and.. That.. We're over." Ryle finishes off with a forced smile. Everyone was silent. I was too. Everything all clicked. This her, she was Ryle's ex girlfriend. The rumours were true after all. Ryle did love someone truly. This her whom Bea and Julie weren't allowed to talk about. I knew now why. It was because of Ryle. They were afraid that he'd get hurt.
The awkward silent was shattered by Chris clearing his throat.
"So guys! Ok! Let's um.. move on. Let's start the story telling." Julie shared with us a story about her most embarrassing moment and we all had a good laugh about it. Next up was me and I didn't know what to tell.
"So what's your story about Ria?" Jake asks.
"Honestly, I really don't know." I replied shyly.
"It's okay, we'll just suggest." Jake says.
"So.. Anyone?" Jake asks.
"Me!" Bea volunteers.
"The first time that you met your first love. Tell us about that." She says happily. I was silent for a while. How could I tell that story when my first love is sitting right beside me and his eyes are focused on me. In fact everyone's attention was on me now.
"We're waiting." I hear Mitch say.
"If you don't want to Ria, you don't have to." Ryle says with a smile.
"No.. It's okay." I tell him with a slight smile. I know that Ryle wouldn't remember. It was impossible for him to remember someone like me at that time. I began to tell the story about our first meeting when he bumped into me and I dropped my books until the part where he left. And ever since then, I remembered him. I finished off my story.
"Oh! How sweet!" Julie says while smiling happily. I just smiled. I looked at Ryle and found out that he was already looking at me. We stared at each other for a moment until someone spoke up. It was someone's turn to tell another story. The time flew so fast and by then it was already 10pm. We decided to end the night and go to bed.
I couldn't sleep. I had tried closing my eyes but I still couldn't. Maybe I shouldn't have slept a while ago. Now, I can't seem to make myself fall asleep. I decided to go out and just walk along the beach. Since Jake's family owned a part of the beach, they said that it was okay to look around or just relax because no one was going to bother you.
I went out and walked along the beach. I sat on the sand and felt the wind brushing through my hair. It was indeed relaxing but I had to admit it was cold. I wish I had brought my sweater with me. I was cold. I wrapped my arms around my shoulders. That's when I felt someone scoot over beside me. I turned my head and saw Ryle. He smiled and wrapped his jacket around me.
"You're cold." He says with a smile.
"Thanks." I say while I try so hard not to blush. It was silent. Not awkward silent but relaxing silent.
"Ria, can I ask you a question?" He asks while facing me.
"Yeah, what is it?" I ask.
"If you were to choose between the one you love the most or your dreams, which would you choose?" He asks his face was serious but there was no hint of emotion in it.
"I... Uhm... Well... I gues... "I struggled to find the words. Why was his question so hard to answer. I really didn't know what to say. I haven't been in that situation and I don't know.
"Ria?" Ryle asks.
"Uh.. Ryle... I... Well... I guess.. It would be...."
