Elena's POV:
"Hey, do you have your schedule?" Damon asked as we left the library. Everybody had already arrived so not many people noticed me and Damon. I'm still confused why they were staring at me because of him earlier.
"Um, yeah," I showed him my schedule and he smiled. "What?" I ask smiling. "We have every class together except our electives," he says chuckling.
Neither of us has stopped smiling.
Just then, I noticed Stefan walking over to us holding hands with a blonde girl. Oh yeah, Damon said Stefan had a girlfriend named- "Hi, I'm Caroline," the blonde girl stuck her hand out for me to shake so I did. "Hey, I'm Elena" I told her while shaking her hand.
"Is that your schedule?" Caroline asked pointing to the paper in Damon's hand. "Yeah," I answered.
She seemed nice. I'm sure we'll be great friends. At least I hope.
Damon handed her the paper and she squealed causing us to wince and everyone else to stare at us. "Nothing to see here!" Stefan yelled and Caroline smiled at him and kissed his cheek.
"We have every class together!" she said happily, smiling the biggest smile I've ever seen! I smiled back then looks at Stefan and tried to think of something to say. "So, did you find your keys?" I asked. Damon busted out laughing and soon all of us followed. We laughed until the bell rang and we together walked to our first class. I found out Stefan was in some of my classes too.
We sat down. Caroline in front of me, Damon beside me, and Stefan in front of him. I looked at the teacher and saw that we were in English. I leaned over to Damon, "Is she easy going?" He shrugged, and smirked at me. I felt my heart stop. He was so gorgeous! Caroline tapped my desk and whispered, "You're kinda staring, but don't worry he's staring back," I laughed silently and Caroline handed me a note.
It's better to talk through notes. She doesn't have the best eyesight so her hearing is better. Flip this over for our #s.
I looked at the teacher making sure she wouldn't see then I got my phone out and put their numbers in. I sent out a group text so they'd all have my number.
Elena: are you coming to dinner tonite Caroline
Caroline: yea I think so
Damon: oh great Barbie is coming
Stefan: I forgot about that.
Caroline: hey Elena, Dixon (the boy to your left) is staring @ u
Elena: y
Damon: bc you're pretty
~4 hours later~
I followed Caroline to our lunch table. And sat between her and Damon. "I cannot believe that we texted for 5 hours straight" I said laughing causing Caroline and Damon to laugh as well. Stefan walks over with three other boys that I don't know. They went to their seats and I turned my head to greet them when I notice one is missing.
Suddenly someone comes up behind me and puts their hands on my shoulders. "Who's this pretty lady?" The boys says obviously trying to flirt with me. I turn around to see his face and roll my eyes sighing. "You could've at least been cute." The blonde-haired boy faked a look of hurt, "Ouch," he said causing everyone at the table to laugh.
"This is Elena and I'm pretty sure she's not interested in any of you idiots," Caroline smiles at me, "Right Elena?" I nodded laughing silently.
I looked around the cafeteria to see all the types of people here and notice a dark-skinned girl walking towards our table.
"I want all the guys from Stefan to Jay to move over so I can sit next to Caroline," the girl ordered.
"Really Bon?" Stefan groaned and they all started to move.
"No y'all don't have to move, I will," I stated. "Here," Damon said while moving over a seat so I didn't have to sit by Jay, the boy who came up behind me earlier. I smiled at him and moved over a seat.
"Hey, I'm Bonnie," the girl told me as she sat down. "I'm Elena," I replied politely.
After we all finished our lunch we still had 15 minutes left until 6th hour, so we just kept talking about random stuff.
"Are you coming to the bonfire tomorrow night?" Bonnie asked me. "What bonfire?" I asked confused. "The spring bonfire. We have one every season. It's a school thing so you'll be able to meet more people there," Bonnie told me. "Yeah I'd love to go," I replied happily smiling.
Suddenly I heard yelling and I saw my brother and some other dude fighting. I gasped and jumped up from my seat and ran to the fight. Everyone else followed. I pushed through everyone and got to the front of the crowd as my brother was punched in the face.
Elena's POV:
I pushed through the crowd to get to the fight. I saw Jeremy get punched in the face after one of my brother's best friends, Logan, tried to break up the fight. Elena ran to Jeremy just as Dixon started fighting Logan. I went up to Dixon and slammed him against a wall. "Stop!" I yelled and everyone in the whole room stood there frozen. Everyone except my closest friends. Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie were helping Jeremy and Stefan, Jay, and Michael were helping Logan.
I was going to go make sure everyone was okay when a teacher walked up and told me, Jeremy, Logan, and Dixon to go to the principal's office. I helped Jeremy up and showed him where the office was.
Poor Elena, it's her first day and her brother has already gotten beat up and sent to the principal's office to most likely get suspended.
This is going to be a long day.
Elenas POV:
I walked into my science class with Caroline and Stefan worrying about Jer and Damon. I feel like it's my fault Damon got in trouble. Ugh my life's so complicated!
"Where do I sit?" I asked Miss Sommers, my science teacher. "By....." she trailed off, "Stefan where's your brother?" "Office," was all he said looking as guilty as me. "What did he do this time?" She asked rolling her eyes. "Stopped a fight," he said defensively. "Yeah I heard that before. I guess you won't have a partner for a few days Elena. You sit there," she told me pointing at an empty table beside Caroline and Stefan.
Caroline gave me a sad smile and I returned it. Sitting down I opened my science book but couldn't stop thinking about Jeremy and Damon and how much trouble they're gonna be in.
Damon's POV:
Principal Brooks actually believed me this time because Jeremy stuck up for me and Principal Brooks actually let me go!
He let Jeremy go with just a warning and he expelled Dixon. He let Logan go because he always lets Logan go but I can't believe I got to go back to class after that.
I had to walk Jeremy to his class because he didn't know where it was then I walked into my science class with Miss Sommers. I handed her the excuse and she glares at me.
"How?" She asked shocked. I smirked at her and walked to my seat taking notice that Elena was my new partner. Smiling, I sat down and wrote her a note.
Jeremy saved me from suspension. He got away with a warning.
What happened?!
He'll tell you.
She looked at me with worry in her eyes and I mouthed 'it's okay'. She nodded and turned her head back to the teacher.
After Miss Sommers told us how to do the experiment I asked Elena for a beaker. When she didn't move I looked at her to see her stared of into space. I touched her arm and whispered, "You're missing an incredibly boring experiment." She looked back at me and smiled shyly. "Sorry," she muttered.
Mr. Saltzman walked into the room and kissed Miss Sommers and whispered something in her ear that made her smile. She kissed his cheek and he left.
"Why is Mr. Saltzman in here?" Elena asked. "They're dating," I answered simply. She nodded and we finished our experiment.
Elena's POV:
Dear diary,
After sixth hour I went to go find my brother and ask him what happened and this is what he told me...
~Flashback~
Jeremy's POV:
I had finished eating my lunch and was talking to Dixon, Josh's, my new best friend's, big brother. Dixon told me that at the bonfire he was gonna kiss Elena and ask her out then stand her up and go with Rebekah as a joke. I completely lost it at the thought of my sister getting hurt by this jerk.
"That's my sister!" I yelled at him. Then punched him in the face. He looked back at me with a bloody nose and eyes filled with anger and said, "You shouldn't have done that!"
~End of Flashback~
Elena's POV:
I couldn't believe that he did all of that for me! I hugged him with tears in my eyes but I quickly blinked them away. I looked at him and thanked him. Then I kissed him on his cheek and went to my next hour.
I'm in Damon's car now. He's driving me home. Damon's also helping me with my homework because I have no idea how to do any of it. Wish me luck!
