Looking upon the very place I swore to never return to.....has quite the impact on me. I stand here at the big brick walls of Liones. The guards talking to my sister and checking the letter the King sent us to come and aid the four knights of the prophecy. One person being the reason I left here for good.
Meliodas, you bastard, what are you thinking?!?!? Having me come here again on account of your son none the less!' I mentally scream as sweat beads my temple. My siblings looked at me weirdly when I told them to travel with a cloak over our heads. They thought it was weird but agreed.
"You may pass," says one of the guards. Still eyeing us suspiciously before turning away to talk to the other guards about us. I rolled my eyes as most people do this whether or not we wear cloaks in the middle of the summer.
Upon the gates opening, we are met with the bustling inside of the city. Liones has changed very much since the last time I was here. Back then it was just merely a small city being rebuilt and not many people. Now it was covered with busy people and stalls selling all types of things. Horses and wagons being drawn. My younger sister was almost trampled by one passing by. We all looked around in astonishment with the place. Meliodas really did do major improvements with this kingdom of his.
"Big brother, can we stop for food? I am really hungry and I think Tetsa is very hungry as well, especially with her feeding for three." Amara said, the youngest of the Blaze Family. She did have a point, with Tetsa being pregnant and having walked all this way with two babies inside her. Tetsu was by her side the entire time making sure she doing alright. Sure the Hybrid body can withstand a lot more than the average human body when pregnant but it wasn't invincible. Stopping in my tracks, even I was hungry as well but I had to get to the castle as soon as possible to talk this over with Meliodas.
"Yes, you guys can wander around the kingdom, I am going to head for the castle. I need to get there to speak with Meliodas. You guys go on ahead and rest. Do whatever you need to do. I shouldn't be long and no matter what, keep those cloaks on. It's for your own safety." I said to them with a stern look. Even with the cloak over my head, I could still feel the fear they had with my tone of voice.
They all nodded and started to walk towards the long path that had many food vendors. I looked towards Astrid and she gave a short nod before following after them. I was now tasked to head straight to the castle and get this settle. Hopefully then maybe we can leave here and never set foot in here once again. I can already feel the bond growing without having to be near him.
Taking many twists and turns to get to the castle was hard to do but I managed to do it with weird looks people sent my way. Only a street away I was from the castle without any trouble.
"Hey, you there. What's your name and what are you doing here in Liones? You think I didn't notice the strong sense of power when you stepped into here, ain't that right?" I heard a young but stern voice say. I could sense the unease in the air and tension starting to claw its way up my throat. I never liked how uneasy I got over a little bit of suspense but that was when my powers were at their strongest. I could turn around and see who it is but I can already guess just by the power they release.
"Why if it isn't Lancelot, son of Ban, the pleasure is all mine." I said in a very calming voice. I turned quickly and bowed to him. Making sure my cloak hid my face well. I could see his shoes from where I was and realized he was closer than I had predicted.
'Had he been following me this entire time?' I wondered before hearing him speak.
"You didn't answer my question. What are you doing here? Someone with this great of power can only ever be a threat to this kingdom. Especially of the times right now with the Four knights of the Apocalypse being united. I also find it weird how I can't read your mind no matter how hard I try. It's like you have something blocking me from getting in." He said as he took a step closer to me. I quickly got off of my one knee that was planted in the ground.
"I would suggest for you to not step a foot closer, Sir Lancelot. It would not be wise of you to do. As for your concern of my doing here, I am simply passing by." I told him calmly, hoping to maybe pass by this guy quietly with no trouble since I was so close to the castle already. I hadn't even noticed that Lancelot was tailing me this entire time. It makes sense though, just like his father, always so knowing.
"I want you to answer me on why you are here. then maybe I will let you pass." he said to me calmly. He was playing smart now. I really didn't want to do this but I need to get going.
"It has been nice seeing you Sir Lancelot, but with all a due, farewell." I said before I used my power to vanish. I hate doing that as it leaves many people confused and I also feel like it's rude but I really don't want to talk right now with any of the four knights of the prophecy. I transported to where I could sense Meliodas' powers. With my luck, I saw the bastard directly in front of me with a huge stupid smile on his face. My hood didn't cover my face anymore due to the wind that also aided me in landing safely. I grabbed him by the collar completely irritated by his nature. I heard gasps from behind me but paid no mind. I only had eyes to kill Meliodas because of his stupid note.
"Meliodas! You bastard! Demanding me to come all this way for that! You know I can't abide by your shitty request! I could seriously kill you right-"
"Kishu"
One word and that turned my anger to nothing. It vanished in front of my eyes. The red ball that had been growing for a while turned to dust with just one word. The voice that made me so genuinely happy and feel like everything was alright. How much I didn't realize I yearned for that voice. To hear him call me by the nickname he gave me. I couldn't turn around. Not like this, I can't stand in the same room as him. I shouldn't! it isn't acceptable for someone like me to be able to.
Meliodas just kept looking in my eyes but now with his mouth in a line, eyes still locked on me. I quickly let him go and he dropped to his feet. I quickly pulled the hood over my head. Realizing that now I heard other people in the room whispering about me and who I was.
"Meliodas, meet me near the night tales where the wind blows and the grass is low." Saying the code phrase we used when I needed to talk to him back in the Holy Wars. I don't know how I remembered it but I did and I know he did when I saw him nod at me. I briskly walked to the door but was stopped when I saw someone I knew so well blocked it.
Tristan had his head down while blocking the door with his arms. I got a good look at him, memorizing the ways he had changed since I had last been here. Back then he was only a mere little boy. He now was practically taller than me and had muscles peaking from his clothes that he wore. Obviously having the build his father had but elegance of his mother.
"You can't do this!" He yelled, breaking me out of my trance from staring at his body. I pulled my cloak over my eyes hoping to hide my blush creeping on my face. I heard hushed whispering behind me and Meliodas' stare.
"Do what, Prince Tristan?" I said evenly and calm, banishing the inappropriate thoughts in my head at the moment.
"You can't just come back here and act like nothing happened! I have so many questions. First one as to why you abandoned me when I needed you the most! How could you? You promised! Yet you still left me when I told you how I felt. You left me, Kishu. H-How could y-you?" He asked me as I saw tears falling onto the floor. I so badly wanted to forget about the everything and tell him everything that happened. That I had no choice but to leave for the betterment of him. However, my mouth wouldn't move to say that but only retort the coldness that came from my heart after everything that happened.
"You will have learned then Prince Tristan that promises are meant to be broken. I never abandoned you, if you never specifically asked for me. Now I am terribly sorry but I have to go." I said to him before I snapped my fingers to transport myself to the quarters that Meliodas prepared for my family and I. How did I know where it was? Well, I can also read minds too.
I locked the door behind me before sliding down to the floor. I pulled my knees to my chest wishing that my dad was still alive to give me some advice to help. I so badly want Tristan but I can't. He looked so amazing back there, all the years of training without me. He obviously didn't need my help so why did Meliodas message me to help? Tristan is better off without me.
"He is, isn't he?" I asked myself, trying to make myself believe it. Even though I could feel the walls breaking everything that I have convinced myself over the years.
For the first time in a long time, I questioned if this is what I actually wanted or just what my instincts told me to do.
