After all the talking and kissing in the afternoon, hunger finally caught up with them. Lan Zhan took Wei Ying to one of the nearest hotels, which was absolutely ravishing. As they entered, the staff greeted them with polite bows.

“They’re so polite!” Wei Ying whispered to Lan Zhan, who simply hummed in response.

They were led to a corner table, already reserved by Lan Zhan. It was quiet, cozy, and offered a nice view of the indoor garden.

A waiter approached them, greeted them courteously, and handed them the QR code for the menu. Wei Ying eagerly scanned it and immediately started picking out all the spiciest dishes available. Lan Zhan, on the other hand, selected something simpler for himself.

“Do you like it here?” Lan Zhan asked, watching as Wei Ying looked around, admiring the décor.

“Hmm, it’s beautifully decorated,” Wei Ying admitted with a small sigh. “Just hoping the food lives up to the place.”

Lan Zhan raised a brow. “Why are you saying it like that? This hotel is one of the most popular in the city.”

“I know,” Wei Ying said, waving his hand dramatically. “I’ve been to places like this many times. I genuinely enjoy the ambiance and how polite everyone is, but when it comes to the food—” he sighed again, “they always mess it up. Don’t you think so?”

Lan Zhan shrugged slightly. “I wouldn’t know. I rarely go out to eat, and most of the time I just skip meals altogether.”

Wei Ying frowned, brows knitting with concern. “That’s not good, Lan Zhan! You shouldn’t skip meals. It’s really bad for your health.”

He crossed his arms with mock sternness, then added with a playful smile, “Don’t worry. I’ll take you to one of my favorite places soon. The food there is actually amazing.”

They were in the middle of their conversation when the food finally arrived. The waiter began serving all the dishes they had ordered. But while placing one of the plates, he accidentally spilled some food on Lan Zhan’s clothes. His face turned pale as fear gripped him.

“I’m so sorry, Sir! I didn’t mean to—” he stammered, bowing repeatedly in apology.

Just then, the manager rushed over to the scene, clearly flustered.

“What happened? What did you do? You stupid, careless fellow—you can’t even serve food properly! I’m terminating you right now!” he shouted harshly, his voice echoing in the restaurant.

Wei Ying didn’t like the way the manager spoke to the poor waiter. He immediately stood up and crossed his arms, stepping in between them.

“Look, Mr. Potato-Looking Manager,” Wei Ying began, making Lan Zhan lift his brow in amusement. “Yes, he dropped some food, but it was a small mistake. He already apologized sincerely. And we forgave him.”

He pointed toward Lan Zhan, who simply nodded in agreement, trying not to laugh at the “Potato-Looking Manager” nickname.

Wei Ying continued, his voice sharper now. “I know he’s your worker, and it’s your job to make sure customers are treated well. But he’s a human being, not some disposable object. How can you insult him like that in front of everyone? That’s cruel—really cruel, Mr. Potato Manager. Right, Lan Zhan?”

“Mn,” Lan Zhan hummed with a nod, watching the situation calmly but clearly entertained by his boyfriend’s sass.

The manager, now sweating, knew exactly who Lan Zhan was—the CEO of one of the richest companies. Fear crept into his face.

“I... I’m sorry, Sir,” the manager stuttered. “I was just trying to do my job… I didn’t mean any harm.” And with that, he quickly excused himself before Wei Ying’s fierce glare could burn a hole through him.

The waiter resumed his service, still nervous, but with a grateful smile. Lan Zhan then excused himself to go clean the stain on his shirt, leaving Wei Ying alone at the table.

Moments later, a young man—probably a year older than Wei Ying—approached and sat down without asking for permission.

“Hey, gorgeous! Remember me?” he said with a cocky grin.

Wei Ying blinked, confused. "Oh, do I know you? Wait… nope, I only remember faces that are worth remembering. And you're not even handsome"

The boy felt embarrassed but still ignore the insult and replied, "Ohh sassy ha, that's why I like you much." he said with sly smile.

Wei Ying now looked a bit irritated. Still, something about the guy felt oddly familiar. His eyes widened in sudden recognition.
"Xue Yang!" he whispered.

Xue Yang smirked, cocky as ever.
"Now you remember me, beautiful?"

Wei Ying rolled his eyes.
"Of course I remember you. But I think you forgot what I did to you last time, huh?"

Xue Yang leaned back in the seat, smug.
"Oh that? I've already let it go. I'm a man with a big heart—I don't hold grudges against pretty little things like you."

"Look, Xue… Yong? Yang? Whatever your name is," Wei Ying snapped sassily, "why don’t you take your oversized ego and leave? Because even if you forgot what I did to you, trust me—if my boyfriend finds you here flirting with me, you won’t ever forget him. So here’s a friendly warning: walk away."

Xue Yang’s expression darkened slightly, jealousy creeping in.
"Boyfriend already? So he’s spoiling you that much, huh? You like rich men now?" He scoffed.
"Why not me, then, Wuxian? I could give you everything you want—just name your price."

Without warning, he grabbed Wei Ying’s hand and began shaking it, making Wei Ying visibly uncomfortable.
"Let go of me, Xue Yang!" Wei Ying said firmly, trying to pull his hand away. He didn’t want to cause a scene, but the urge to kick this jerk across the floor was rising fast.

Xue Yang ignored his discomfort and tightened his grip—completely unaware that Lan Wangji had returned and had just heard everything.

In a flash, Wangji was beside them. His eyes burned with quiet fury. Without a word, he gripped Xue Yang’s wrist, forcefully pulling Wei Ying away.
"Get away," Lan Zhan said, his voice dangerously low. And then—BAM!—he punched Xue Yang hard across the face.

Wei Ying gasped, barely able to react before Lan Zhan raised his hand again.
"Lan Zhan!" he quickly grabbed his arm, stopping the second hit.

Xue Yang winced, his lip split and bleeding. He wiped it, then looked at them with a twisted grin.
"You…!" he hissed, pointing a trembling finger at the couple, eyes full of rage and wounded pride.

"You did wrong," Xue Yang growled, wiping the blood from his lip. "You messed with the wrong person."
He snapped his fingers. "BOYS!"

From nearby corners of the restaurant, five or six tall, intimidating men appeared—clearly bodyguards. Their massive frames and stone-cold expressions made a few onlookers gasp and scatter.
Wei Ying blinked at the group and then gasped dramatically.
"What the—Giant Hulks?" he muttered in awe.

Lan Zhan immediately stepped in front of him, shielding him protectively. His muscles were tense, eyes sharp with silent warning.
But before he could say a word, Wei Ying peeked out from behind him—and dashed straight toward the group.

"Wait—Wei Ying!" Lan Zhan called, startled.

"Hey, Giant Hulk Uncle!" Wei Ying chirped, skidding to a stop beside one of the men and reaching up to poke his bicep. "Wow, you’ve got such huge arms!"
He gave the muscle a quick squeeze, eyes sparkling.
"Lan Zhan, look! He’s like a walking brick wall!"

The bodyguard—startled—stood frozen for a moment, then scratched his head, unsure how to respond.
"Uh… thanks?"

"What do you eat to get this big? Six eggs? Ten? Are you on a chicken-only diet? How many hours do you work out? Is your trainer single?" Wei Ying rattled off, genuinely fascinated, bouncing from one bodyguard to the next.

The once-threatening group now looked hilariously out of place—awkwardly answering his questions like schoolboys in front of their crush.
"Uh, I lift twice a day."
"Mostly protein and cardio, sir."
"No, I’m not single, but my trainer is married."

Meanwhile, Lan Zhan and Xue Yang both stood frozen in complete confusion—one with a twitching eyebrow, the other with his jaw half-open.

"What… is even happening right now?" Xue Yang muttered, watching his personal bodyguards getting fangirled by the very person they were summoned to intimidate.

"You all! I called you for help!" Xue Yang shouted furiously. "What the hell are you doing?! Beat that guy up and bring the other one to me!"

Wei Ying's eyes widened. "Oh no!" He instantly darted back behind Lan Zhan, who caught him protectively in his arms and stepped forward like a human shield.

The guards, realizing their actual task, started approaching.

Lan Zhan’s entire demeanor shifted—focused, alert, deadly calm. Fighting wasn’t a problem. Protecting Wei Ying was his priority.

Wei Ying glanced at the oncoming threat and tightened his stance.
"Lan Zhan, looks like we have to fight now."
He lifted his hands in a mock martial arts stance.

Lan Zhan frowned.
"Wei Ying. Stay behind me. I’ll handle them."

"No way!" Wei Ying said stubbornly. "We face this together!"

From behind the guards, Xue Yang let out a maniacal laugh.
"You really think you can take them on? I’ll show you what happens when someone defies me!"

Wei Ying looked at Lan Zhan and grabbed his hand.
"Alright, Lan Zhan. Ready?"

Lan Zhan gave a sharp nod.
"Ready."

Wei Ying took a deep breath.
"Okay—3… 2… 1…
RUN, LAN ZHAN!"

"What?!" Lan Zhan blinked—but Wei Ying had already taken off, dragging him along.

The bodyguards blinked in confusion before chasing them through the restaurant, into the street, and around corners.

Ducking into a narrow alley, they ran full speed for nearly twenty minutes.
Breathless, they finally stopped.

Lan Zhan, panting, glanced behind. "They’re gone."

Wei Ying, hands on his knees, nodded. "Yeah… they lost us at the alley turn a while ago."

Lan Zhan slowly straightened. "Then why… are we still running?"

Wei Ying looked up at him with flushed cheeks and a mischievous grin.
"It was fun!" he laughed between breaths.

Lan Zhan stared at him in stunned silence, then let out a quiet sigh. How could he ever stay mad at that bunny grin?

"You're unbelievable," he muttered—but gently wiped the sweat off Wei Ying’s forehead with his sleeve.
"Next time… warn me when the plan is to run."

"Noted, Mr. Stoic. Now, let’s go eat something. I'm starving after that cardio session."

Lan Zhan just hummed, letting his bunny lead the way again—this time, hopefully, without bodyguards.

They reached a tiny roadside hotel, where an old lady was busy making noodles at a humble outdoor counter. The place was small and modest—nothing like the fancy one they had visited before. It looked cheap but clean and cozy.

"Aunty Suzi!" Wei Ying called out loudly, making the old lady jump in surprise.

"You brat! A'Xian—do you have to be so loud? I nearly had a heart attack!" she scolded dramatically, clutching her chest.

As she came closer, she noticed another figure standing beside him.

"Oh my, oh my! And who is this handsome man?" she said, eyeing Lan Wangji curiously.

"Hey, old lady! Stay away. This handsome man is my boyfriend," Wei Ying said proudly, latching onto Lan Zhan’s arm.

Aunty Suzi rolled her eyes. "Boyfriend? Yours? Tch!" She turned to Lan Zhan and asked teasingly, "Where on earth did you bump your head to end up with this loudmouth?"

Lan Zhan blinked in surprise, caught off guard by her bluntness but sensing the teasing tone.

"Oye, Aunt Suzi!" Wei Ying pouted. "Stop saying nonsense or I’ll complain to Uncle Ken!" He pointed at her, mock-angry.

"Hmph! Always using that old jerk’s name in our arguments," she huffed sassily. Then added, "Well, aren’t you going to introduce your beautiful aunty to your boyfriend?"

"Beautiful? Who said that?" Wei Ying scoffed but grinned. "Anyway, come here, Lan Zhan." He pulled Lan Zhan forward, who had been quietly watching the two banter with amusement.

"This is the oldy—I mean, Aunty Suzi. She’s Uncle Ken’s wife, you know, my driver. And Aunty Suzi, meet Lan Wangji. My handsome boyfriend."

Lan Zhan gave a polite bow.
"Nice to meet you."

"Ahh, such manners," she said approvingly. "Alright, you two sit down. I’ll make you my famous noodles. But for your pretty boyfriend, I’ll keep it mild. Can’t have that delicate face sweating!"

"Thank you, Aunty!" Wei Ying beamed. "We’re starving!"

They found a small table and sat down. The place was simple—wooden chairs, old posters on the wall, and the smell of fresh broth in the air.

Lan Zhan looked around curiously.
"You come here often?"

Wei Ying nodded. "Yeah. Uncle Ken brought me here once when I was in high school. He had to run an errand and told me to wait in the car. I got curious, wandered off, and found this little spot. Aunty Suzi was really sweet to me. I was starving, and she made me a bowl of noodles."

He looked around nostalgically. "It’s been the same ever since. Only the furniture has changed."

Lan Zhan nodded slowly.
"I’ve never been to a place like this before."

"Of course not," Wei Ying said, resting his chin in his hand. "You grew up in a palace. But now you’re with me, you have to see my world too."

Lan Zhan looked at him, eyes softening.
"I want to."

And Wei Ying, smiling like a sunshine in human form, made Lan Zhan fall for him all over again.

“Noodles are here!” Aunty Suzi announced cheerfully, arriving with a tray. She served both of them and quickly turned to attend other customers.

They started eating. Lan Zhan took his first bite and blinked in surprise.
“This is delicious!” he said, wide-eyed.

“Told you!” Wei Ying grinned proudly.

After finishing their bowls of Suzi's famous noodles, they left—not without a playful argument during their goodbye with Aunty Suzi, who threatened to keep Lan Zhan for herself just to annoy Wei Ying.

Later, they wandered through the bustling streets, hand in hand. Wei Ying led the way, animatedly pointing out old stores and food stalls while sharing stories from his high school days. Lan Zhan listened quietly, sometimes smiling, sometimes laughing, but always looking at Wei Ying with quiet adoration.

Eventually, Lan Zhan booked a cab, and they returned to the hotel where their car was parked. After retrieving it, they drove back to the Jiang residence.

When they arrived, Lan Zhan parked the car and turned to find Wei Ying already watching him.

“Today was amazing, Wei Ying. I’ve never had an experience like this before,” Lan Zhan said sincerely.

Wei Ying’s smile grew soft. “I had fun too. Thank you for taking me out. You made my first real date... unforgettable.”

Lan Zhan took his hand gently. “I’ll make sure everything is unforgettable for you, Wei Ying.”

Butterflies fluttered wildly in Wei Ying’s stomach.
“Thank you, Lan Zhan. For being here… and for making me happy.”

Lan Zhan brushed his knuckles across Wei Ying’s cheek.
“You don’t need to thank me, Bunny. You deserve all the happiness in the world.”

He leaned in, eyes filled with tenderness.
“I love you, Wei Ying. I love you so much.”

Wei Ying’s eyes sparkled. “I love you too, Lan Zhan.”

They leaned closer, lips just about to meet—

“Stop right there and get out, Wuxian!”
Jiang Cheng’s voice snapped through the air like a whip. He stood in front of the car, arms crossed, eyebrows raised in pure brother judgment.

Startled, both Wei Ying and Lan Zhan jerked back. Wei Ying scrambled out of the car, face flushed crimson.

“Bye Lan Zhan!” he squeaked, rushing inside.

Lan Zhan sighed and gave Jiang Cheng a dry look.
“You ruined the moment, you know.”

Jiang Cheng huffed. “You’re not allowed to kiss my brother yet! Not until you’re married.”

Lan Zhan raised a brow, unimpressed.
“And who said we haven’t kissed before?” He started the car. “Bye, future brother-in-law.”

Jiang Cheng stood there, mouth half open, completely stunned.
