sometime in 2022
like any usual day i sat at my desk waiting for the bell for the next class to ring, 7th grade was fun and all. but i didn't talk to anyone really. next class was physical health, god i dreaded that. no one plays with me, taking my bottle of water i followed everyone else in suit as our teacher ushered us to the hallway. a lanky brunette boy stood beside me talking to his friends and laughing.
if i were to remember correctly, his name was han jisung. i doubt he remembers mine, but that was non of my least concerns. sitting down at a bench i watched everyone play, until i felt a presence beside me. "hello, haewon was it" he smiled, i nodded awkwardly. "i'm jisung" he greeted with a happy tone to which i only mumbled a small 'i know'.
before i knew this boy was talking about random things, i could only listen and reply with relatable sentences. maybe he wasn't that bad, i had made myself a new friend. he offered to add me on discord to talk more, i happily agreed. it's not like i had many to talk to online except my best-friends, tsuki and arin.
little did i know this blossoming friendship would become something way more. jisung seemed the type of person that'd be fun to be around and i was definitely enjoying it. it felt nice to have someone new to learn about.
[time skip]
i was now in 9th grade, jisung was still my friend. we weren't as close but we still talked. it was lunch, i was having a hard time understanding my computer science lesson so i stood up from my desk and walked over to jisung's. "need help?" he asked, turning his attention from his friends to me. i nodded taking a seat.
his friends ooo'ed at us, but we didn't care and he helped me understand binary, denery and hexadecimals. "ahah! i got it now" i smiled, the previous confusion disappearing. the teacher supervising the class seemed equally as interested in our interactions. he continued to let me copy down some notes.
jisung was always a great help when it came to studies, i really enjoyed it. he'd always send notes and explanations if i ever needed, usually was there to explain maths whenever i felt like pulling hair. but all the signs and clear evidence had me falling for him. only to be rejected.
february 26th ; dinner party
i had been waiting for this day my whole life, yesterday i had graduated and today was my time to enjoy the party. dressed a purple dress i went to my best-friend in-soo's house like we had agreed. as my mom dropped me off, there was one singular thought.
'what if someone asks me out today' it was just a gut feeling and i really thought nothing much of it. my mom pulled up at the apartment complex, as i fished out my phone from the purse and called in-soo. "what haewon" her voice rang through, "come open the door" i spoke calmly. she hummed on the other end before hanging up.
few minutes pass she opens the door, as usual in her hoodie and jeans. oddly enough she had heels on too, i raised an eyebrow getting out of my mom's car. "what's the heels about" i ask as we walk to the elevator, she sassily did some dramatic hand gestures and tapped her feet. "had them on already so why not" i nodded, i too was wearing heels, not something i wore much.
reaching to her apartment level we walked down the hall and entered. i crouched as i struggled to take my heels off, "let me help" she crouched infront me and helped me. "hana is already here, her zip apparently broke while trying to put it on" in-soo chuckled, "it broke? last time i checked group yuna said she was struggling" i added laughing.
once the heels were off i followed in-soo to her bedroom. hana sat on the bed playing with her phone, "oh hey" she smiled and i nodded back before crashing onto the bed too. we three fixated on our phones for hours until nabi showed up. we all talked about random things.
in-soo's mom did hana and in-soo's make up, by the time she was finished it was way past the ending time of the party. finding a taxi was equally as annoying but we managed to make it to school — by then there was only 10 minutes left.
we sat down at one table, next to me sat ayeon. "you missed a lot" she told smiling, i smiled back "i know... blame those bitches". she laughed. at a time there was an award show going on. students were giving teacher's awards and it was hilarious.
after the show and two local singers performing, we were allowed us run around and eat. after eating we took selfies before arin wanted to go find tayoming. following her we found the table he sat at along with changbin, in-soo and jisung — who looked extremely handsome.
i sat down, "in-soo make this man stop" tayoming complained, glaring at changbin. "right in front of your girlfriend" i shook my head in mockery. "you can have her" he nodded of dismissively, "gladly" i grinned, before turning to jisung. "you look good" i smiled, he smiled back "you too" i knew i was blushing, i've liked him for a while now.
there was a silence between us, i turned to in-soo who was eyeing me in a weird way. i took out my phone and opened the notes app typing out 'i wanna take a selfie with jisung, but im too shy to ask" i showed it to hana who smirked and then to insoo — they both gave me the judgiest look.
after a little chat, the teachers called us for a group picture. i wandered around, i didn't really have any friends in my class. the girls class was first. i smiled watching them when jisung approached me. "hey." he smiled. "hi..." i mumbled shyly. "so.. how is life, still with the other guy?" he asks. "we broke up." i shrug.
he gasps, blinks rapidly, then quickly composes himself. "what, why?" i looked around, fiddling with my phone strap. "he lost feelings." i say quietly. "oh..." he frowns slighty. "you wanna take a selfie?" i gesture to my phone.
"yeah sure." he grins, "wait though, when?" he turns, tilting his head, i open my camera app. "october?" i say not completely sure. irrelevant people, why remember. it was their lose, isn't it ironic. i had realised my feelings for jisung after so long.
we take a selfie, the lighting wasn't the best. but it kept me smiling. "thanks..." i look down, before he could reply his friends dragged him away. i laughed, my friends approached. "woah..." hana grins, i roll my eyes.
the night stretched on, the party only began. students scatter the school field. in-soo had fled somewhere with changbin. me, hana, arin, nabi and two of their classmates decided to go the school rooftop, we walked by jisung and his friends taking pictures.
we all got on the elevator, it was all calm, maybe too calm. the doors opened, infront of us stood a bunch of guys. there was a silence, then we all began screaming. then stopped abruptly. lord behold stood, the school captain, my distant cousin and a bunch of useless men.
we laughed about it and went towards to the rooftop only for it to be locked. so instead we went back down, still laughing about the jumpscare. the parents were already there so we decided it was time to go home.
arin waited with her mom till my dad came. i waved and got into my dads car. the ride home was quiet, just the radio. "how was it?" he asked, "it was fun, we got to run around." i replied. i gotten a cupcake with my name on it, so i ate it.
after returning to home, i changed, took a shower and decided to get on my bed. still not feeling sleepy, i decided to text my friends. well, tsuki it is. she was the only one online. she wasn't able to make it to the party as she was feeling unwell. i sent jisung the picture we took together and the rest of the pictures with the girls to the groupchat.

i was shaking from the adrenaline and happiness, i never expected this and especially not tonight. but i'm glad. we kept talking about random things. he had realized his feelings for me after his friends had bugged him.
he realized he had taken a while to confess, and he almost lost his chance at it too. but now he's glad he did so. he just wanted to work on himself before confessing.
i had confessed to jisung an year ago, but he rejected me back then. by the pickup line i used he meant that day. i had used a random pickup line that tayoming had told me about. well it was really i asked for one.
'are you a keyboard? cuz you are my type.' it makes me cringe to this day, but hey atleast i got him now. i couldn't be happier. i had never had a man confess to me before, this was a first.
march 26th ; bonus! (date ;])
yesterday was my birthday, we both were up in a call the day before discussing something. the time had passed he didn't realize it was my birthday. until he did, it was cute. so he had prepared a small gift for me.
we couldn't see each other yesterday, so we decided to meet up today. ironically, it was also our one-month anniversary. we decided on a simple walk. we met up a small cafe'.
i decided on something simple, a black maxi skirt and ontop a baby blue tshirt, i braided my hair into pigtails. did some light makeup too. i looked outside the cafe' as i waited. it wasn't long before he slid into the booth, and sat across me.
as if on automation, i smiled. "hey." he greeted simply with a smile. "hi." we both sat in a comforting silence for a bit. "did you order?" he asks, i shook my head. we ended up ordering a cup of ice cream each and a boba, he insisted that he didn't want anything to drink.
after the ice cream we left the cafe' to stroll around. i sipped my boba, we were very awkward. "want some?" i gestured the boba to him, he nodded and took a sip. he hummed, "good right?" i asked softly. instead of an answer he pecked my lips.
"oh!" i gasped as he pulled away, i couldn't help but giggle a little. "you sneaky." i teased, "am i now?" he asks teasing back. i nod, we hold hands. swinging it between us as we continued walking. "what did you do with your friends yesterday?" he asks.
"we had dinner, nabi brought her homemade cake. then we facetimed the rest. since only nabi, hana and aina came." i ramble about what i remember, taking a sip of my drink occasionally. he hummed and laughed along.
we decided to go to the park nearby. "its been a while since i came here." i sigh taking in the greenery around. "eugh grass." he grumbles, then adds. "i have never been here." i gave him a judgy look, "you are too cooped up at home." i scoff, dragging him to another area.
"it's good to socialize, this is a tree." i point at a tree, jokingly acting like he never seen one. he plays along. "so this is what you humans do?" he raises an eyebrow. "photos printed?" i ask, "bogos binted?" he tilts his head. "what." i say, "zorp?" we both laugh.
"you talk like you go out." he says, after catching his breath from laughing. "unlike you i actually leave my house." i state, he just shakes his head. we sat down at a bench and reminisced about school days.
afterwards we decided to go to a nearby convenient store and buy a few snacks. "do you like mangos?" he asks, "yeah why?" i raise an eyebrow. "im not a fan of it really, i don't mind juice though." he says, "random... but alright." i laugh.
"do you think im nonchalant?" he asks, this guy really had his random questions. "no, you yap a lot actually." he laughs at my response. "good, i don't think so myself, there was this one kid in my class who tried so hard to be nonchalant" i let out a chuckle.
the sun was setting by the time we made it to my doorstep, he didn't let go of my hand yet. "i had a great time." i smile, "me too." he whispers. "oh heres the gift, he hands me an envelope, my name written in pencil.
i raised my eyebrow, he just smiled. gave me a quick kiss. "good night." he said softly before leaving and waving. i go inside and slide my shoes off. i quickly fled upstairs to read whatever was inside.
he really put his own art into it, cute doodles. one was a little figure with a shirt that said "i love my gf" and next to it written was "your number 1 supporter." i couldn't help but giggle at how cute it was. then was a letter about how much he loved me and how happy he was to be with me.
that wasn't all, him being the nerd. he of-course being just that had to add a math question, it solved to 'I <3 U' this guy was the cheesiest man i've ever loved. sometimes or maybe every time handmade gifts hit deeper.
you just know they took the time and effort to make it, i wouldn't change someone who enjoys that. 'cuz i myself would do the same. so, i decided to write a letter about how much i loved him and give it to him on our next date.
