Chapter Four – She Was Living In Lalala Land... Well, Used To.

jace-

I snort at the Fate Queen. “What makes you think I agree with that?” I ask her as I cross my arms over my chest, to look intimidating. The Queen gives me a shocked look then a strange one, a look I can’t quite place.

She mutters under her breath. I catch the words, ‘imbecile’ and ‘trying hard’. I give her a questioning look. She shakes her head then gives me a small smile which I know is forced.

“Be good, Jace.” she says simply and she vanishes into thin air. I gawk. I expected her to at least slap me for declining her. Does she accept that I don’t want to be a ‘Fated’? But the worse of all is my ‘partner’ is Andromeda!

I shudder. Every time I think of her and our past relationship, I can’t help but smack myself. What have I seen in her? She’s nothing but a worthless girl. She’s not and wasn’t worth my time.

My phone rings, breaking my internal monologue. I look at the Caller ID and see, ‘Andromeda’. I roll my eyes. The Fate Queen has probably told her everything and she, being the optimistic girl she is, probably thinks I’d come back running to her. What a moron.

I roll my eyes again and answer her call. “Hello?” she says uncertainly. I snort. “What do you want?” I ask coldly. I flinch a little but shake my head. I will end this right now. This craziness.

“Err... Just wanted to say hi. But it seems you don’t want to talk so I’ll hang up.” she says, not hiding the hurt in her voice and ends the call after speaking. I sigh. It’s a good thing she got the hint right away. Smart move. She would have gotten more hurt if she talked more to me.

tanya (mrs. fosth)-

“Andro-!” I stopped short when I saw my baby girl crying, running up the stairs. A few seconds later, a door slams. I sigh. It was Jace probably. I sometimes don’t understand those two. Lately, they have been arguing then my motherly instincts told me they broke up only to be confirmed by Andromeda’s weird actions. This morning, Andromeda was so happy it seemed like she was living in lalala land which gave the impression that they were okay.

I saw her settle down on the living room, humming to herself. Then I faintly heard her say, “Hello?” then silence and I heard her say words swiftly. She probably called Jace and they argued, maybe. It’s the only sensible and logical reason to why she’s crying.

Unless Roe gave her a punch, that even Moseley would be put to shame, again like when she was six and Roe was four. I sigh. Now they’re all grown-up. Andromeda a senior and my not-little-anymore Roe a year behind. I still smile happily every time I think of the time when Roe was accelerated in school. “Hello? Earth to Mom!” I saw a hand waving in front of my face. I shake my head. I’ve been drifting away lately again. Oh, the effects of being a-

“MOM!” Roe calls out more loudly this time. “Oh... I... Roe! Sorry.” I say dazed at first then sheepishly.

“Mom, our lasagna has become a pool of soggy pasta and cheese.” Roe gives me a stern look. I return it with an apologetic one. “Sorry... Drifted to oblivion. You know me.” I say and chuckle.

I look inside the oven and see that soggy would be an understatement. It was a catastrophe! I sigh. “I guess we’ll have to eat Chinese for dinner again.” I say to Roe while I wear my oven gloves and put out the ‘lasagna’.

I hear a groan from behind me followed by a “Not again!”

fate queen-

I shriek frustratingly. “AHHHHH! THAT STUP*D BANSHEE! THAT FILTHY MORON! RUINING MY PLANS!” I scream colourful words as I throw a tantrum on my bed like a child. I let the manners fly out through the window. Childish, I know. Sometimes even people like me need to express their feelings so bad.

Someone knocks on the door. “Not now!” I shout at whoever is knocking. I hear a chuckle.

“You know the knock was just to show politeness.” I hear a familiar and feminine voice say but it was muffled because she was still behind the door. I was about to tell whoever that was to go away when I remembered to whom that voice belongs to. “Mother!” I say, quickly sitting up, straightening my Victorian dress.

The goddess, Aphrodite, chuckles at me when she entered. Yes, my mother is Aphrodite and I am an immortal demigod.

“I’ve heard of your problem.” she says sternly as she sits on the couch on the far corner of my room. “Yes. The Tragics are on the loose again. They have started toying with the Fateds again.” I say.

She sighs. “They really want power, don’t they?” she asks sadly. I nod and say, “But I know they will use it in the wrong way.” We have a moment of silence, both of us thinking about the situation. A moment later, Mother stands and looks at me. “Come on, let us have some tea.” she says to me. Decode, ‘we need to talk about this’.

lord tragic-

I laugh at the devastated state of the poor little ginger who calls herself the ‘Fate Queen’. I laugh more at the thought of her pathetic name. And this time, the hologram wasn’t on dual mode. I made sure Eustace knew the difference between one-sided and dual holograms before he could set it up for me again.

Suddenly, I heard a knock on the red-head’s door and she shouted, “Not now!” earning a chuckle from me and Eustace. I glare at him and he quickly shuts up. I know it’s childish but I removed his ‘privileges’ of fun. Laughing included.

The Greek herself enters and I freeze. What?! The distraction didn’t work? I groan. I was supposed to enjoy more time with the ginger’s frustrated state.

They exchange a few words but I catch only a few phrases like ‘...your problem...’ and ‘...don’t they?...’ I was seething with anger. They ruined my plans again! I smash the table in front of me which was unfortunately the one which had the controls, making the screens go black and the hologram to disappear. I just do not care right now.

I take a little satisfaction with the sound of the buttons smashing into tiny pieces that flew to different directions. I must have punched hard for them to shatter like that. I imagine them to be the ginger’s and Greek’s heads. But the ratio of my satisfaction to my anger was 1:1,000,000,000,000,000 and the zeroes would go on and on. It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out which one was my satisfaction. Unless it was Eustace.

I shake my head. Time to keep in the anger first, I must plan. A foolproof plan this time. I wondered for a while if that shouldn’t include Eustace since it was ‘foolproof’ but I shake my head again. Focus, Tragic!

I decide that I need Eustace and a handful of other minions. I grin evilly. I know the perfect plan. It’s a good thing I know how the red-head thinks and strategizes. Yes, Fate Queen. Just wait, Lord Tragic is coming to wreak havoc.

fate queen-

“You know how ‘Lord Tragic’ thinks.” Mother says, making quotation marks with her fingers in the air upon mentioning his name. The name that truly annoyed me. I nod at her and say, “He thinks his plans are foolproof.” I snort a little and I drink from my cup of tea.

“Yes.” Mother says, amusement flashing in her eyes. “The bimbo tried to send his minions to prevent me from going here.” Mother snorts also. “Those ‘Tragics’ have nothing on me. I’m a goddess.” she says with pride in every word.

I nod and grin at her. Mother has always been happy kicking some unworthy id*ots’ a*ses. “I bet he will manipulate a few of us. Like what he did to Bella and Jace.” I become infuriated at the thought of that. My poor Bella... I shake my head. I will be strong for her. Whilst Jace, I know I can do something for him. Trouble Dust ain’t got nothing on momma!

“You should not send Jace and Andromeda to make peace with them even if he asks for it in a hostage-like situation.” Mother warns me as she sips her tea. I think about it then a light bulb flashes. Yes! That would be perfect! “You know, Mother. Doing that might even help Jace and Andromeda’s Fate.” I say and I wear a big smile.

I just hope that when it happens, my dear Jace and Andromeda won’t be harmed. “Ah... Yes! Their Fate would fit in. The climax will easily be done.” Mother nods at me and grins widely. Ha-ha, Lord Tragic. Who are you fooling now?

Author's Note:

Yay! Another chapter. I must say, I'm proud of myself for updating thrice in just one week. :) Who knows, it might turn into four times.

Sorry for the frequent change of POVs. But the story just doesn't evolve around two or three characters. Plus, they are in different places and I need to strengthen some characters. And about Jace, trust me. It'll get better soon.

As you see, Aphrodite is one fun and butt-kicking goddess here! ;) I'll be looking forward to writing in her POV in the future.

Votemment. (vote/comment 'cause I'm cool like that!) I'd appreciate it if you leave some feedback. ;)

-EDITED CHAPTER-

If you see any more mistakes, I'd be glad to fix it.
