The tour was finally over. Two days ago had been the last show, and now Vic and I were driving home. I was a little bit tentative to be honest. Where did we go from here? Did we continue our relationship from where it had been left? Did we have a do-over? I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel, the scenery a blur beside me.

'What are you thinking about?' Vic asked from beside me. I turned to look at him, trying not to fixate on him too much. I could kill us both.

'Its just...' I looked back at the road. 'Us.'

'What do you mean?' He asked, his voice sounding confused. I pulled into the next lane, bypassing a slower car.

'I mean, where do we go from here?' I swerved into the previous lane. 'Do we pick up where we left? Is this a do-over, where we go back to the start?' He pondered this for a minute.

'I... I'm not sure, Kellin. I guess, ultimately, it's up to you. I left you. You can make the rules.' I nodded at this.

'Okay.' We continued on for a few minutes in silence, the atmosphere comfortable. I though about what he had just said.

Where do we go? I could take it back to any point in the relationship. The decision weighed on my shoulders, and I was scared. It could make or break us.

'Vic, I don't know. I'm not sure where I want to take this.' I said. I needed to face him, so I pulled over. I turned to him, and I clasped his hands. 'I can't just decide. It doesn't just affect me, it affects you too.'

'Honey, is now really the time though?' He said, brushing my hair back away from my forehead. I nodded, again.

'Sorry. I guess its just been bothering me a little bit.' I smiled at him, and he returned.

'How about we talk about it over dinner tonight?' He asked.

'That sounds good.' I replied. He leaned over and gave me a kiss. 'Now back to SD?'

I laughed. 'Yeah, let's go.'

I maneuvered my way through the familiar San Diego streets, dropping Vic off at his house.

'I'll pick you up at seven. See you tonight.' He said, getting out if the car and giving me a light kiss.

'See you, Vic.' I replied, pulling away from the curb. I pulled into my own driveway a few minutes later, and I got out, my nerves tingling with excitement. I couldn't believe it. I was going on a date with Vic. I never thought I would be able to utter those words again. I checked the time and it was just past three thirty.

My legs ached from being stuck in a sitting position, so I decided to quickly change into a more comfortable get-up and go for a run. I set out, feeling good. I made three blocks and I was gasping for air. It had been awhile since I had done this. I strengthened my resolve though and carried on for another five minutes of continuous jogging. Pleased with my effort, I promptly turned around and started walking home. Once my breathing was in control again, I set off at another brisk jog. It had taken me almost half an hour to complete two kilometers. I jumped in the shower and came out again after scrubbing my sweaty body and shampooing and conditioning my hair. I stood in my room, a towel around my waist, looking at my clothes. I had no clue how to dress for my date. I sighed and quickly texted Vic. His reply was almost immediate.

Just casual. See you in two and a bit hours.

I smiled and grabbed a pair of jeans and a button down shirt. Casual, but classy. I smiled and styled my hair, drying and straightening it before running gel through it to make it stay in place. I sighed, realizing I had gotten ready too early.

I walked out to the kitchen, where I had left my laptop and opened it, turning it on. As I waited for it to boot up, I made myself a coffee. I got out my résumé again and resumed my search for a job.

A knock sounded at my door about five minutes after I finished my drink. My job hunting hadn't turned up anything even remotely interesting. Oh well. At least I had a date to make up for my lack of income at the moment.
